I just got my Sentinel to level 30 and finished up the SM and everything on him today playing on hardcore, but now I don't know which class I want to play next to set up for ME3 import. I am torn between the "Agent" Infiltrator Tony has a guide for, the "Reaver" Infiltrator build, a Revenant totting suppressive fire/commando soldier ala Average Gatsby and with thoughts of an engineer/vanguard hopping around in my head also...

Any suggestions? I do plan on playing on hardcore as I find Insanity to be far too annoying to play on, possible but frustrating. :pinched:

Adept.

I know it was not on your list, but it is my favorite class by a long shot. Nothing is more fun than lifting people and throwing them into orbit. Sentinels only have 1/2 the throw into orbit package.

Engineer would be my second choice, closely followed by vanguard.

Adept or Up close shottie Infiltrator.

Depending on how you played your Sentinel, either it will be a repeat for one or the other in style of play. Infiltrators with shotguns are incredibly powerful and useful, allowing combat at all ranges with an in your face dodge and blast play. Adepts are usually more laid back and throw people around, but can be played aggressively once you understand how each power should be used.

This is the problem. Before you play anythng else, you SHOULD be playing on Insanity.

I may just try this next run on Insanity, I had been thinking about it but I hadn't convinced myself yet. As far as how I played my Sentinel I played mid to close range assault. I took AR training to give my self more options on long range battles that are unavoidable and used the Tempest as my shotgun.

Engineer or soldier.

My only qualm with playing as an Adept is I play on 360 and I feel like I would be hindering myself not being able to use all of my powers at will. Yes I know I can pause the game to set them up, but I don't enjoy having to pause the game on a regular basis. I finally got a system down for my sentinel where I kind of knew which powers I would be using where so I hotkeyed those two at the beginning of a mission, is that something I would be able to do as an Adept?

Singularity to Y, Warp to RB then throw/pull to LB depending on my squad?

This is exactly how I map my Adept powers on 360, generally covers most engagements in the game although you could also try taking a Pull squadmate or a Warp squadmate and mapping those powers to the d-pad and this could free up room to use another power yourself.

Just curious what do the buttons do on a 360 controller. 3 hotkeys seems excessively small IMO.

A for run, cover? The analog stick thingy for movement(jog pushing it all the way forward) A trigger to shoot, another trigger for Aim) 2 buttons for squad control I guess, So I can see that leaving only 3 buttons left, but a simple dpad control to switch between hotkey setups would solve a lot of issues. Heck that would give you 12 vs the Pcs 8.

I know you only have thoughts of vanguard, but honestly, vanguard on the higher difficulties is the most fun i've had in a while in a game. Gets your adrenaline going when you charge knowing if you don't do exactly what you need to in that charge (killing one or two people) you're basically screwed =p, or later on just waiting till you have enough time to charge someone far away.

Depends how you played it and how much more you intend to play ME2. I would suggest ultimately playing all the classes, they are all fun, interesting and different. Adepts are cool but if you were using your sentinel to generate powerful warp explosions then I would suggest a contrast in Soldier, Vangurad or Infiltrator. If you were more using a it as a shooting tank then Adept or engineer.

Well I played my Sentinel as kind of a mix between the two to be honest. I used my powers regularly for something other than tech armour, but I choose assault armour and used my SMG as my "shotgun" and used the Mattock as my longer ranger weapon in conjunction with warp/overload/throw when the situation called for a less aggressive in your face tactic.

But, thanks to the help of a RNG via google I have chosen my next class that I will play on Insanity with (hopefully...) Vangaurd!

Ehhh... I lied, I am going to veto the RNG and go with the soldier for my first attempt at Insanity.

Rev Soldier
Mattock Sentinel
Mantis Engineer
Clay Vanguard

That's what I'm importing into ME3. If I get around to finishing my Sniper Adept on ME1 probably a Viper Adept too.

It's a good choice. Your first time on insanity is the easily the hardest, and the Soldier is probably the easiest to do it with. Insanity isn't all that much different from hardcore though.

I have not, I tried to play it... But it was just so different from ME2 I didn't enjoy it. Maybe I should try it again it just seems like a clunky third person shooter compared to ME2. I am sure the story is great and I would like to play it, but I only put enough time into it to play the very first mission. Does it improve greatly from there?

It does get better. However the game starts out quite slowly even after Eden Prime. I don't really like the gameplay that much compared to Mass Effect 2 either, but it's not that bad and the story is definitely worth it.

I would recommend playing with all of the classes atleast once if you have the time and interest for it. Otherwise I recommend the Vanguard. Charging is just so much fun and it never gets old.

I actually unveto'd the RNG and decided to go with the vanguard. But like I said earlier, Insanity is just too frustrating for me especially on a class with a learning curve like a vanguard so I knocked it down to hardcore. I will save my soldier for Insanity and see how it goes with him.

Not really, it is quite clunky and quite badly imbalanced. One big difference is you gain powers that let you run around out in the open quite easily from about one third of the way through the game.
