Could we have a Toggle Mini-Map option?

Not a  bug, but a suggestion - or even a request. Hopefully, a good number of people agree.

Could a 'toggle mini-map' option be implemented in a future update? Many gamers like them, even more aren't bothered by them. But there's also those who loathe their very presence.

The less we see of an interface, the more immersive the game. And mini-maps in such games are entirely pointless, serving only to ruin your sense of association with the actual gameworld, or tell the lazier/dimmer gamers where a certain quest giver is.

We should only be using the gameworld to navigate in real-time - not a map permanently overlaid onto our screen, like a fly in the ointment of our Kirkwall vistas.

Surely a toggle option isn't too much to ask for?

Yes, I hate the mini-map. Every game that has a mini-map needs the option to disable it.
Instead of looking at the game world I find myself constantley glancing up at the mini map.
I am playing Red Dead Redemption with the mini map off for the same reason and same for when I played Assassins Creed 2.

Btw I already made this suggestion and not a single person agreed with it. Hopefully more people will agree because visible HUD stuff on screen, espically mini-maps, bug me and I really want the option to disable it.

As I said before, a toggle would be nice. Anything which can be used to customise your gaming experience to suit you is a good thing in my book. I would prefer them to stick to more important things, however.

Didn't see any previous mentions of it, but any other topics kinda get lost amongst the whining about lost gamerscore... ;-)

goku - you're absolutely right about Red Dead. Without the HUD, it's a completely different (and I'd argue superior) experience. I've rarely ever played a game where a mini-map has served a valid purpose.

Lyndsey - sure, it's by no means as important as Thumbs Up or the shield stacking exploit, but the lack of an intrusive mini-map for those who'd want it gone could be a great future update. I'm skeptical it'll ever get implemented, but you don't get if you don't ask.

Woo for toggle-minimap implementation! The minimap in Origins was fairly small and tucked away in the top right corner of your screen but in 2 the new minimap that fades at the edges is huge! Also, yeah, same reasons as stated above, less GPS = more immersion.
