With ME3 on the end of year horizon and everything we've read about it I wanted to dredge up some thoughts I had in regards to the three ME titles and their three very variant presentations.
Its pretty much an agreed upon fact that ME1 lacked effective shooter/gameplay dynamics in comparison to ME2 and ME2 of course lacked the RPG elements that ME1 had and improved the FPS combat immensely.
From all indications, lessons learned and all that ME3 appears to be leaning towards attempting to reconcile these two very variant styles of game dynamic into one codified package in the final(TBD) arm of the IP.
So what I'm wondering really is if there is any thought, once ME3 is done to assign any resources to porting the finalized dynamics of ME3 into ME2 and ME1 as well to give the entire trilogy of titles, in regards to the new user coming into the trilogy a bit late a single homogenous experience where they can pretty much easily adapt from ME1 to ME3 without too much confusion.
I'm not saying this is really a critical consideration, but overall I feel that a distinct decision to use the ME3 middle ground and then apply it backwards across all three titles, regardless of the time and expense that may cost could be very helpful for the IP and its overall lasting duration as one of the greatest science fiction epics ever told in any format.
Effectively not something I'd expect you all to do for ME3's release, but perhaps for a 3 Disc Game of the Decade release, months after ME3, which I'd more than happily buy then play my way through again and again enjoying the convergence of three titles worth of dynamics experimentation finally built into all three games in a consistent manner.
Bringing in the combat of ME2 to ME1, the RPG dynamics of ME1 to ME2, and being able to re-experience the whole story under one convergent set of play dynamics, would be a nice refreshing method of giving the entire series replayability for those of us that have played them all from release day on, and for those that will come after us and pick up this series of games like they're the Tolkien novels of our century, which is something I truly do equate the Mass Effect series to, it is literally on that level of generational classic that I feel even 10 - 20 years from now, the Mass Effect Trilogy will be a story that will still hold weight with new generations of players, regardless of the technology itself perhaps becoming antiquated by that time.
So was just wondering if there would ever be a consideration to harmonize the dynamics so they eventually cross apply to all three titles. If not, its not a game breaker, but if there is eventually a harmonization....I feel like it could be a pretty interesting way of increasing the replay value of the titles post ME3, and offer up a reason to rebuy all three titles again, even if we have individual copies of each day of release disc for the games, I'd still turn around and spend 120 dollars on a 3 Disc ME Epic Collection which rebuilt all three games under the same dynamics.
