Ladies,
A couple questions that have been on my mind.

1. How many of you felt that Lady Hawke's body and clothes was lacking in comparison to the NPC's in the game? I am a very feminine gal, and I felt ugly! :/
Anyone wish for some better hair styles?
I mean this is a RPG!

2. How many of you enjoyed the "Home" aspect?

3.  How many of you felt that for a time span of 10 years that the romance  interactions in the game were way too few? My Hawke was LONELY!

Thanks for your answers. Just wondering how you all felt, as our dollars count too!! Image IPB

Hmmm...well...
1. During my first playthrough I had elected the Warrior class, so I often wondered how Hawke hefted her two-handed sword around - she seemed a bit thin, though I suppose she just boasted an athletic physique? I didn't mind that she was less endowed than some of her companions (or family for that matter). She had enough going on without having to distract all of Thedas. As for clothes, well, I thought they were practical. I'm a big fan of the practical fashion. No Wonder Woman in high heels for me. (Could be my own bias of not being able to survive more than 2 hours in heels, but I digress...).

2. I liked having a base of operations, and the random comments regarding different areas of the house were very amusing, particularly around the bookshelf. But damn if I didn't get tired of having to drop by the house so much to see who or what might be waiting for me there.

3. Both playthroughs had my Hawke romancing Isabela...though I had batted some eyelashes at Merrill briefly. I would have liked a few more dialogue options/cut scenes (one more flirty romp in the estate would have been nice), but all in all, I think the romance was well-paced in that it didn't overwhelm and didn't distract from the other aspects of the plot. It made for a nice undercurrent to the characters.

I prefer my video game characters to be heavily armed and armored. 'Feminine' isn't really appropriate in a game where demons and worse are trying to eat your face. If I want to feel pretty I'll go do something else; moreover having Hawke sporting a pair of ****** even bigger than the ones she already has would look ridiculous. In short, I don't really give an eff how 'girly' she is as long as she looks like she could reasonably cleave an abomination in twain with a full-force blow, and has full plate armor.

I was too exasperated by the fetch quests, bugs, linearity etc to really appreciate the 'Home' aspect of it. Maybe if I could rearrange it and put furniture in it? Put pikes outside with the heads of my enemies as a warning to all who might trifle with me? Etc

More romance than this is overdoing it. I was fine with the amount of romance. If they could do a little less romance next time and use the money saved to make the game better I would be more than okay with it.

I didn't like her default look at all: freakishly pale, gaunt, and pointy.

And her voice was awful, in my opinion.

I was fine with the way she looked, although I'd have preferred a few more muscles for warriorHawke. The clothes were fine as well, you don't fight wavemobs/demons/raiders/slavers in pretty dresses. Now that I would really have hated. I also hate the skimpy armor look. It's downright silly, imo.

I never paid attention to the house, not much anyways. Some nice interaction with static objects were given, and they were funny for the most part.

I agree on the romances, at least the one Hawke had. She waits 3 years for dude to come to his senses while staying chaste? Right. Gotcha.

1. How many of you felt that Lady Hawke's body and clothes was lacking
in comparison to the NPC's in the game?

YES, I agree! I mean, I wouldn't want massive boobs like Isabela's but is there no middle ground? I wished they made a variety of chest sizes if anything I mean all the chest sizes are the exact same xD
I wish they would give us nice flowy long hair as well ><
I felt as if some of the armor, especially the Warrior, was wayyy too big for female Hawke. Maybe this was normal for the warrior, but it looked wayy oversized imo
and was it just me who thought femHawke walked and sat like a man in cutscenes? they used the same actions/stances as m!Hawke. I'm sorry but the way I sat with my dressing gown thingy on, everything would have been on display lol

2. How many of you enjoyed the "Home" aspect?

It was nice, but I preferred the camp in Origins by a mile. Mostly cause the companions were all there ready for me to interrogate xD

3.
How many of you felt that for a time span of 10 years that the romance
interactions in the game were way too few? My Hawke was LONELY!

Agree completely! Fingers crossed we see the old interaction back again in DA3.

Now don't get me wrong, I think Bioware does a GREAT job catering towards the female gamers as well as the male gamers, much more so than other companies, but what they should do is create more, IMO, nicer hairstyles, and make it so we actually walk like females in cutscenes. And more than anything, give us gals more satisfying romances like getting Fenris and Anders topless in the bedroom scenes would be nice. Just small things. Because we're girls, appearance + romance matters a lot to us ;)

1. How many of you felt that Lady Hawke's body and clothes was lacking in comparison to the NPC's in the game?

I felt her body fit the character just fine, what I thought was a little bit odd was Hawke's mom having GGG's as pert and perky as a 20 year old's.  It didn't offend, just looked out of place.  I liked that Hawke's armor was armor and not a chainmail bikini and I thought she looked pretty bad ass carrying around a some of those hefty 2h swords.  There could have been more armors in the game, especially in Act 1 and even more so in the 'mage robe' department.  But I love the Champion armor and Ser Isaac's armor and they look quite nice on Lady Hawke.

Anyone wish for some better hair styles?

I didn't mind so much the ones that are in the game.  I usually end up with the default Hawke hairstyle or the very short cut that Cassandra sports.  I suppose my Hawkes take after me in that I get completely fed up with my hair usually and just chop it off.

2. How many of you enjoyed the "Home" aspect?

I thought it was a neat thing.  I enjoyed the different interactive areas and what Hawke had to say - usually about another character.  I liked that different characters would show up unexpectedly.  But I would have liked the Hawke Estate to play just a little bit bigger of a part.  It would have been neat had it started out just Hawke and mom and the companions slowly start filling the house or that it became a gathering place.   Having not just a single companion show up, but maybe Varric, Isabela, Fenris and Donnic / Aveline show up for a card game.  Or Hawke looks out the window and sees Merill frolicing in the garden while no one's watching.  That kind of thing.

3.  How many of you felt that for a time span of 10 years that the romance  interactions in the game were way too few?

Without giving spoilers, I think it depends on the romance and your version of  Hawke.  Certainly, I would have loved more since I'm a romance junkie both in games and in real life but, I felt that the romances fit with the story and the time frame.  Alot of people seem to forget that in the fictional world of Thedas, things don't happen overnight.  Given the nature of certain characters, their actions are completely understandable.  And, given the nature of certain characters, it makes the end that much more romantic.

i was quite happy with my female Hawke, She was more curvacious than the females in Origins at any rate. even the way she walks is so much better.

What were the other 2 questions?  :)

LOL ok, the home was ok but nothing special.

I really don't know where the 10 years went...nothing had changed in the town at all.

1. I felt a little disgruntled when not playing as a mage and having Bethany follow me around in this totally cute/sexy mage outfit while I walk around in a full regalia of armour, but other then that I was okay with the outfits. If Hawke's a warrior, it makes sense that she'd wear heavy armour. If she's a rogue, it makes sense that she'd wear light armour. If she's a mage, it would make sense that she'd wears robes... actually, I didn't really like the mage robes. Not a good idea to wear them when you're an apostate prancing around Kirkwall and trying to hide your magic from the Templars.

As for the hair styles, I wish there were more, yes. A lot of the new ones I didn't like that much. I like giving my female characters long hair so I wish there were more bun and ponytail hairstyles. I would've loved to have a braid style as well. But oh well. Just gonna have to use my imagination.

2. I loved the 'home' aspect! I especially liked how you could click on certain objects in the house and Hawke would comment.

3. The thing with the romances is that you pretty much miss out on the 'falling in love' part. You get to see Hawke and her love interest when they start showing an attraction to each other and then you go straight to the two of them being in love after three years pass. I kinda wished I could've experienced those three years because I wanted to see the relationship blossom. Despite that however, I was satisfied with the romances. Of course there is nothing wrong with adding more dialogue... the more romance dialogue the better I say. ^_^ *hopeless romantic*

Why do women always stereotype themselves by talking about clothing in game? You could have made a very nice joke about it, but not being serious. She's a freaking warrior, warriors wear plate. Plate is ugly.
As for the looks, I (but I'm male) think she looked fine. Kind of a gothic look, pale, tall and dark so fine with me. But then there is always something to complain about, even when she would have had long hair, blond hair or ig muscular shoulders.

In short: women.........

I just don't like how meek and soft her voice sounds.

As much as I dislike the Mass Infection of Dragon Age, I wouldn't have minded Jennifer Hale as FemHawke. Even if she couldn't pull off the English accent.

1) I wanted my toon to be MORE muscular (she was hefting a heavy 2-handed sword for chrissakes) - not less. Noodle arms, wasp waists, and stick legs can't hold up a weapon, much less plate armor.  Would also have liked the option to make her chest smaller since athletic/lean women generally have smaller breasts.

As for clothes- I couldn't care less

Hair selections were fine, and were realistic for what someone that was constantly engaging in fights would wear.  Long and flowing (unless secured back in a way that the hair didn't fall in your eyes) - would get you dead and dead.  - They weren't however, rendered well - that needed some work.

2) I couldn't care less about what the "home" looked like - I only stopped there to screw and open my mail.

3) I found there to be all sorts of romance options.  I would have welcomed more dialogue options - I really liked the way it was done in DAO.

1. Her body was too small to me. It would be fine for a mage but I was playing a warrior. Though, I was glad they didn't update her chest size like all the other NPCs (which was odd especially for MamaHawke who had the body of a 20 year old). Also, I really hate the way she runs. It looks ridiculous.
Don't care about the clothing options.
More curly options for the hair would be nice.

2. It was just a place I went to to get rid of injuries. I liked having a party base better. I remember thinking it funny that Anders would stop by Hawke's house only to talk to the dog.

3. NPC interactions in general were lacking. Would have liked more casual conversations instead of conversations that were quest related and being their therapist.

Exactly what I was thinking...

That said, it's a shame someone can't express their interest in something without apparently "stereotyping" an entire gender. By Tripedius's logic, all men should get off this forum now.

They're enforcing the stereotype that guys waste far too much time on their games. Image IPB

As for the topic, could the OP open up the conversation for men as well? This forum as well as the comments made for Origins pretty much show that men certainly are interested in such subjects.

1. I don't mind it. 'Course I don't act very feminine anyways, so there you go.

2. I'd enjoy the home aspect more if there were more reason (and time) to be there.

3.  The interactions were very limited overall anyways. A lot was cut out, (*cough*Fenris shirtless*cough*) and I'm sure this included a lot of dialogue. I'd love to have had more interaction with all the companions, DA:O style, as when you could just talk in camp for a while and learn about the individual characters and their backgrounds.

Well your comparison fails, there are women ánd men on these forums. However I have yet to find a man who could care less about clothing, hair and how your home looks. There are lots of things to talk about but only women can count hair, clothing and interior decorating among them. Seriously would it have been better if she had a closet full of clothing just like barbies? Or pink armor?

1. I liked the armour though more choice is always good. Yes, would definitely love longer hair or at least more ponytail / braid options for both genders.

2. The home aspect was ok. I mainly used it for potions and curing injuries. Hawke's home seemed like a wasted resource to me. If more companions visited or you could actually interact with a love interest who moved in, it would have been better (ie talk, kiss or bed). Home basically became the place I went so I didn't have to use an injury kit. It would have been nice to put trophies on walls / options to personalize with items from quests.

3. I thought romance interactions were far too few for a 10 (7?) year span. A handful of flagged conversations seemed so limited. I prefer more rather than less in this area. That goes for friendships too, not just romance.

Spare me - men **** all the time about toon personalization/options.   And when there ARE options to personalize a home - they **** about that also.  I remeber the whining and moaning when they added custom housing to EQ2.

My "comparison" was highlighting the absurdity of condemning someone for their interests based on "perceived" stereotypes. The fact that you missed this? Telling. The fact that you attacked it? Hypocritical.

However I have yet to find a man who could care less about clothing, hair and how your home looks.

And I've seen plenty of conversations to do with hats, clothes, the female body, even make-up, initiated by men.

1.  The body and clothing did not bother me.  The HAIR!  Awful.  The quality of the hair in the game doesn not match the quality of the faces.  Just awful.

2. I liked the home.  It was comforting to go there, and I liked it when a companion showed up.

3.  I would have liked one "normal" romance option.  Someone who wasn't deeply disturbed.

1. I think that FemHawke' body is well design, she is slender, toned and has the right ammount of curves for me. I think it is also right for the game, she isn't so thin that she looks like she could be snapped in half by the abominations and various other ememies she fights, yet she isn't too muscular that she looks masculine or that she is a female body builder or on steroids. She has a typical athletic, mesomorphic body shape which I love and can compare to myself quite easily.
I think that the armor design for her was well done, it is practical and still manages to compliment her body shape quite nicely.
However I think that there could have been more "Out of Combat" clothing such as the "Noble Clothing" which we get in Origins. I know that we get "Finery" but It would be nice to have the option to wear something other than your armor and "Finery".
I do appreciate that Bioware has introduced alot of new hairstyle into the game, which I adore, however I do think that they could add some long hair styles into the game. What I mean by long hairstyles is hair that passes the middle of your back atleast, I know this may cause problems with clipping and what not but it would still be nice if Bioware could implement them into the game somehow.

2. I quite enjoyed the "Home" aspect part of the game. It was somewhere where your companions could come and visit you (or your dog) and the interaction between the objects were quite amusing. It was a nice touch to the game. However I don't think that Bioware developed the concept to its full potential, it could have been so much more than it was. But maybe they can build on this concept in the future and implement some new features in a patch, dlc or Dragon Age 3.

3. I was quite satisfied with the romances overall and how they played out. On the other hand I think that it would have been nice if your Love Interest came to visit you at the Hawke Estate or Gamlens House. It would have been nice if there were random little conversations over the years maybe relating to what you have been doing in Kirkwall or something that was on there mind. Also maybe the option to ask them to go to bed with you or kiss to kiss them, something along the lines of Origins just to make it a little more realistic. I know that it is implied in some party banter in some relationships for example the Isabela and Sebastian Dialogue. But other than that, after the romance scene in Act 2 it kind of seems like, to me, that you're having a chaste relationship.
