I'm talking about just an option that means nothing more than 1. a toolset and 2. the multiplayer hooks so people can play a module together. I really don't see what the whole uproar about such an option is about.
Keep in mind that DA2 didn't even have time to update the toolset. Imagine what they would have had to pull from the single player campaign to have time to add it, then add multiplayer options on top of that.
I don't want half a game just to add multiplayer options. My only objection.

An extensive toolset, player hosted servers and custom content would be nice. Very nice. It would be made of win, actually.
Basically, NWN for DA.
But it's wishful thinking at best.
I'm still doubting that there will be multiplayer. If there is, I'm afraid it won't turn out so well.
They could charge you for each new house, or element.

You missed my point, being that adding that option doesn't take anything away from your SP experience and people not interested in MP can simply ignore it, contrary to a MMO or whatever where they'd actually spend a lot more resources.
It's like saying "I'm totally against having a cigarette lighter added to my car, if they do that I'm not buying it!".

If it is going to be only a "side dish" then lets them do it
If it is going to influence Single Player Story in any negative way then no please Bioware dont do it

And while I've stated that I won't pre-order DA3, nor ME3 based upon DA2 - I certainly won't get TOR or any MMO based DA game, or any other heavy MP game at all.
But I understand people that do play MP games, and as such I don't hate MP, I just hope that they don't spend any time on it.

Agreed. And as for comparisons to NWN, I played that years ago, tried a whole bunch of persistent worlds and always found them a huge disappointment. If that's what is meant by "multiplayer" then I agree it is unnecessary but, hopefully, not something that would damage the main campaign.
But I don't believe anyone would refer to that as "multiplayer". I think they are considering having the main campaign playable in co-op...and I won't be alone in giving up on this franchise when they do.

Am I the only one who sees the potential in multiplayer vs combat?.
Yes.
So are you telling me that you would like some half assed dlc campaigns, instead of balance updates and new maps and arenas for multiplayer, or are you agreeing with me <_<
Not much development time would be cut, if any at all. They could just take a Blizzard approach and release the game when it's done, with both single player role playing and some multiplayer arena based rts-esque hybrid and could sell waaaaay more copies than DAO and DA2 combined

The issue there is this. How do you pause to give orders to non player companions? The mostly likely way is to get rid of the giving orders bit so you can run the game in real time. You cant be constantly pausing in an MP game.

The 1 player game was mostly H&S, but then the MP modes were RTS. This was also an EA game, so perhaps they have that in mind? Darkspawn, Dalish etc etc in team battles. either way the game will be dead online within the first couple of weeks.

I don't see the pull they'd get for having PvP in it, so I doubt they'd go that route.

Seems like they aren't going to stop on the high point but go all Westwood on this franchise.

On an even more depressing note. After ME3 Bioware is thinking about a MMO in the Mass Effect universe, or a game with single and multiplayer.

Maybe EA's line of thought is "We can't fail every time".

Well, Mass Effect MMO seems pretty inevitable at this point.
Good thing or a bad thing? Don't know, but I slightly lean towards the latter.

I agree, I think the only thing that could happen to stop a Mass Effect MMO is SWTOR to fail miserably.Warheadz wrote...

Dragon Age 3 will NOT be multiplayer. Heck I can't think of one BioWare game that is multiplayer. Where did this e-****** rumor come from? OP? Well then OP is a ***.

Multiplayer in DA3. Freaking sweet. Most awesome news I've ever heard.
F*ck no.
And a Mass Effect MMO.....
I think I just don't even care anymore...

They must have some ideas such as Templars vs. Mages team match, deathmatch or whatever. Seeing bioware's DA2 and overall lack of expirience in multiplayer games, they will most likely just scramble together some junk and call it multiplayer to justify 59 dollar price tag a little better.
I'd rather they focus on polishing their games instead of bringing the topic of multiplayer though. It's not the feature that I would like to see for dragon age but hey, its just my opinion.

Baldur's Gate?
Neverwinter Nights?
Besides the fact that most people probably didn't even notice it, I've not heard anyone saying that the multiplayer component ruined Baldur's Gate, or has it? <_<

Well, no. But DA2 wasn't exactly a polished and amazing game.
And knowing that DA3 is in the works, with multiplayer included...
I mean...just kill the damn franchise already.
