The gears of Official PlayStation Magazine's rumour machine have been turning and according to the mag a third game in BioWare's fantasy role-playing series Dragon Age is currently in production, complete with an all-new multiplayer mode.

Seeems like a lie.

But then, Multiplayer can hardly be worse than DA2 already is.

Multiplayer in a story based game is tedious. Baldurs Gate had multiplayer , but these are not the sort of games you can drop in, play a map for a few hours and then drop out.

However multiplayer does not always refer to the story. Given Biowares recent penchant for ripping off the Japanese.

Heh, I know it's off-topic, but thanks for that link; I genuinely wanted to see if The Last Story was worth keeping an eye on, and now I know it's a definite buy for me. =)

For the campaign: I'd rather they not spend time on multiplayer...and work on polishing the core game (heck, I think they should fix up DA2 first before even working on DA3)

If the multiplayer is for outside the campaign, like options to have/host player made scenarios/campaigns, then I'm ok with it.

AWESOME. DA3 will be in MLG no doubt.
Multiplayer would be legit.

DAO sold well with fans who like tactical combat, good RPG elements and a good single-player story. BWs response: Donkey Age 2 was made for hack,n,slash fans pissing off a huge part of the fans who made DAO a hit. DA2 is nowhere near been as succesful a hit as hoped.
Now if BWs response to this is to add multiplayer they will have turned the game into the exact opposite of what made the first a hit.

I will only say this once. Dragon Age as a multi-player is about as interesting as Mario Bros teaching algebra. Wait . . . that actually sounds cooler than a multi-player. . . sigh. Please just don't do it. I play BioWare's epicness to lose myself in a great story and amazing new world. If i wanted to kill a few darkspawn with LadysMan69 and Likmynuzzles03, I'd waste my money on WoW. Nuff said.

I think that from a story with choices standpoint 2 person multiplayer is possible. Create 2 characters with a strong bond (Mentor/Apprentice, Siblings, Partners, Significant Others) and give one to one player during conversations and one to the other. each develops thier character thier way and can interact with party characters independently, maybe even pusue the same LI. I think this could provide a unique yet exceptionaly Bioware style Multiplayer for not just a Dragon Age Game but any RPG game. Combat I think Can be reletively easy to work, lots of companies make 2 player Co-Op.

For Single player in the same game give the player control of both Characters in conversation, or just one and have a default for the other but I prefer the previous idea.

Such a game would probably be conversation wheel heavy. not neccisaraly a bad thing.

Since multiplayer is by its very nature going to be more shallow than singleplayer, I think to make all of the lore of the Dragon Age universe (encompassing two BOOKS, two games, an expansion and a plethora of extra DLC) and then simply throw it all away would just be utterly pointless. Why come up with this engrossing world (Thedas) and then just ruin the franchise by adding a multiplayer proponent which will just be entering combat where whoever mashes the awesome button enough times wins?

Sounds like what Dungeon Siege 3 is doing with it's Co-Op.

Not a bad thing. if BioWare is going to make MP in dragon age game, it will most likely be similar to dungeon siege 3( Ok, they often share ideas with obsidian ). I hope they are going to upgrade the toolkit for new engine, so that the modders can create their own co-op Campaigns so they do not need to sacrifice the OC's story. if they do so, this could be the biggest gift bioware can offer to the community

If it's done well I have nothing against it.

But after DA2 I'm weary of changes and ambitions by Bioware...

 Excellent news !
at last some coop in the horizons ala neverwinter nights or baldur gates.
I know a lot of people are crazy about singleplayer only and it's sad, there are many other people that will enjoy the coop version of this game.

You can sill play alone if that's your thing.
