I love Alistair's line, "At your service." The way he says it is sexy. =D

I wonder how much dexterity my character will need before he can climb over a 1 foot pile of rubble, anyhow...

The other thing, 2. your "karma" in the game (so to speak). If you're playing a "good guy" even the sarcastic (I picked...something like sarcastic-can't remember the exact word)...even he now just says "direct me" or "here". As for your allies, the ones who really like you, they're saying "your wish?" or "friend" or "I can do that for you "
So it's all in how you treat folks. Funny, while your rep with each ally is one thing, it seems there's a "cumulative" thing going on where the overall interchanges are affected by an ongoing set of decisions past plus comments.
If you don't like people being rude to you (including yoru character, who you built), try being nicer.
It never ceases to amaze me how people expect folks to love and respect them when all they do is act self-important, grandiose and insufferably rude. Timmies are not loved by anyone, except other timmies who don't know better. This game is about action/consequence. Don't like the consequence, change the action. I've never heard my character say OP's reference line.

So the developers of this game made one of the characters say something annoying because of my personal failings? I'll have to ask my gf if she sent them a list.
*chuckle* Not your Personal failings. The way your person is controlling your character...and how the world around the character perceives it. Nice catch.
But yeah, your gf probably did upload a list.

If anything Bioware, make it less frequent.

Its a great line. You picked that voiceset....
I don't see how people can say this. Yes it is a good line but thats not what people are complaining about. No one knew it would be said every 5 seconds. If i'd known it was going to make me want to claw my ears out in hindsight obviously i wouldn't have chosen it and evidently i will not be choosing it in future.

But I do think there should be a way to turn the pc's comments off entirely. I'm always in favor of giving the player options. If they can't patch in such a toggle then maybe they'll consider it for the sequel.

Sure, I picked Violent. I sat here for a while clicking each of the voice sets over and over to hear as many different vocalizations as I could, before I made my decision. The voice is important to me, even if it's only random snippets played off now and then. The ladder speech never appeared, despite clicking on 'Violent' over and over and hearing every possible vocalization it would play at the time... and the ones it did play were just cheery violence said with the voice that was absolutely the most appealing to me. (One of my absolute favourite NWN voices had such phrases as 'Blood makes the grass grow!', and I was really hoping for something like that here.)
I read that the character creation voice samples do not include what the characters will actually say during the game, and that the voice samples aren't heard outside of creation.

It's possible to be violent without being psychopathic, or being mean and cruel and all those things. My character has most often been played as saccharinely sweet, she just likes combat, and a lot of her in-game vocalizations could be more classified as 'exuberant' than 'murder death kill'.
There's also the fact that, despite the game seeming to offer you a way to test the voice sets before you choose one, the examples it gives are INCREDIBLY limited and for the most part are not used in the game at all... and the longer, possibly (incredibly insanely irritatingly) annoying ones never play.
If the game only played that comment 1 out of 30 or so commands given, or after several commands given in a row, I'd probably crack a grin. But having the character say it so often that she interrupts herself in the middle of saying it to say it again, and then interrupts THAT interruption to say it AGAIN... err, methinks it's playing a bit too often. Thus the incredible annoyance at putting up with this for over 80 hours.

My dwarf noble is violent, the voice suits her but that line in particular does get on my nerves. It's not that I mind my character talking smack to me but it was mildly amusing the first time and it gets grating from a pure auditory perspective. She could be saying "Could you come over here so that I can serve you cake and proceed with the gratuitous fellatio?" and it'd have the same exact effect, it's just annoying to hear something with that many syllables in a raised tone of voice being repeated that frequently.
Minor complaint but I did feel the same way as the OP so I figured I'd pitch in hehe.

Some of you folks saying 'You picked Violent, so live with it!' are being rather narrow-minded, do you know that?

I'm sorry, but what? If you want your character to sound saccharinely sweet then yes choosing violent wouldn't work but then you wouldn't choose that one, you'd choose one of the more appropriate voices, so I don't get why you mention this part.

It depends on 2 things, really. 1. is the voice type you chose. If you chose violent, well, you chose. Your char is only treating you the way you have him treat everyone else. Feels good, don't it?

I had the same violent voice choice. It, along with the fact that my first human noble looked far too sensitive given the games story, made me remake, this time with the experienced voice. And a beard.
