If you get tired of your pc's comments you can always take control of one of the other party members. Of course then you'll have to listen to their comments instead.

i somewhat agree. i like violent voice set including that line, but those acknowledgments are a bit annoying. when your character repeats it every minute it gets old. I wish there were check box to make them less frequent.

Some of you folks saying 'You picked Violent, so live with it!'.....[snip]

I'm sorry, but what?  If you want your character to sound saccharinely sweet then yes choosing violent wouldn't work but then you wouldn't choose that one, you'd choose one of the more appropriate voices, so I don't get why you mention this part.

Sorry, FlintlockJazz! That stream of thought bit from me came from a prior comment about my character treating me as I have my character treat everyone else, and since I picked the 'Violent' voice it must mean I'm mean, brutal, etc., or have my character treat others that way, which is completely wrong.

<sigh> I've tried to explain, repeatedly, that during the only testing of the Violent voice possible during character creation, it did NOT seem that the Violent voice meant I'd be wanting to strangle my character because of one long and excessively overused vocalization. Just like the names for the other voice sets don't (for the most part) seem to make a lot of sense to me, they're just one-word summations pulled out of thin air. (Mystical? How is that voice set 'mystical'?) It seemed like the Violent voice set was going to have the exuberant/gleefully combative vocalizations similar sets for NWN had. For the most part, it does, and that's what I love. It's just the overuse of this ONE vocalization that makes me aggravated.

Nothing to be done about it anyway until people make voice pack mods. It's just a bit cathartic to vocalize (erm, textualize?) my aggravation at the ladderspam.

Mr. Pot?  There is a Mr. Kettle on the line, and he would like me to tell you that you are, in fact, black.

Dear Mr. Kettle, My kind but violent ser, I'm at your service! Wink. Nod. Smile.

I happen to be evil challenged. I end up hating my own character so much I just almost can't find a way. On the other hand, having everyone bow all the time and thow love at me gets old too, actually. Every once in a while it's fun to intimidate.

Folks have a point, I concede, that the comments are too many, too often. Still, I was not talking about people's individual, outside the game character. I was talking about the in-game characters they make. I suppose it's fun playing the evil dude. I just find it very hard. Even though HK47 makes me laugh. And the fighter's guild guys always say "go hurt something!"

I sincerely apologize to Mr. Kettle and others here if I went far too overboard with the timmies comments. I was, say, basking in the fog of war after a few hours of killing darkspawn and had forgotten myself. Please forgive.

Firstly, Thank you Shazzie for being the only reader thus far to completely understand my intention of this post. It is weird that NONE of the sample quotes when you pick the character are actually used in the game... least not in my experience.

You picked violent. What do you expect?

Like I said earlier, I expect my character to sound cool. The voices shouldn't be attitude determining, they should simply enhace the overall feeling of your character.

...for me, this is one of the things that instantly endeared the game to me, I absolutely love it!

I love the fact that my character talks as well. In fact I despise games where the main character doesn't say anything! In fact, I WISH the main character voiced the dialogue options you choose as well. My point in starting this thread was to emphasize the fact that your character griping at you while you play (and regurgitating the same line over and over to boot) is incredibly irritating, and a HUGE blunder on Bioware's part.

Are you kidding me? I'm playing the most angelic character you could possibly imagine! I don't think I've been mean to a single NPC in the game. I ALWAYS play as a genuine hero in RPGs and go out of my way NOT to be mean to anyone! This doesn't change anything, although it really would be awesome if it did! And just because I'm playing a saccharinely sweet character (to borrow Shazzie's words), doesn't mean I want him to sound like a panzy!

In a game with such sublime voice acting and amazing immersion, this is an incredibly irritating immersion injuring indiscretion!

I'm going to look into the Toolset this weekend and see if I can't remedy the problem with some new voiceovers. At least Shazzie and I can enjoy the respite from a weakly designed voice system.

Thinking of that, Any suggestions for replacement lines for the Violent Voice?

Oh, and just as a heads up, I'm a fairly decent voice actor... got a runner up mention on the original Make Something Unreal competition for my Unreal voice pack and I was the only lone voice actor to contribute.

I am greatly amused by my Rogue elf when she says "Are you daft?" When ever I try to lock pick a chest above her ability level.
