I'm part way through an insanity run, and for some reason the game seems to remember me as sacrificing Ashley and saving Kaiden in ME1, when in fact it was the other way around. This is a new game+ with the same Shepard as I went through ME2 the first time with (who was imported from ME1), who definitely had Ashley show up on Horizon. I'm not sure why the new game+ suddenly decided to switch who survived, but I'd like to correct it before ME3, since it will affect which squadmate I get. Is there any way to poke my save file to get the right person alive again?

Isn't which squad-mate survives one of the questions miranda and Jacob ask you at the very beginning is it possible that you answered Kaiden on your second play-through?

If so starting again from your 1st play-through or playing a third time should fix it

After checking on this, I don't get asked it as a question. They ask whether Anderson or Udina was the councillor, but I just get flat out told that Ashley died without an opportunity to deny it.
