Some consipracy theorists claim the Coke fiasco was intentional, if it was, it was incredibly dumb and I doubt BioWare intended to make a game that would be so poorly recieved.

Not only one of the stupidest threads currently going it's also one of the stupidest comparisons for pretty much every reason everyone else spent 9 pages listing
You sir need to unplugg your computer & throw it out the nearest window as you have completely failed in every way possible
And you sir need to calm down. Battering the OP for making a stupid comparison by making a stupid post like this is irony that I'm wiling to bet was unintentional.

Elhanan I am glad that you are enjoying the New Coke, some parts of it has been very enjoyable to me as well but when taken as the whole package, I have to say I am disappointed. And yes you are correct in that Coca-Cola saw an increase in sales and brand loyalty was at an all time high. So it did end up as a win for that company. I certainly feel that there is room in the gaming world for New Coke type of games but that classic formulas with built in fan base should not be messed with too much.
Mad nice to see such a polite and well spoken young man your father should be very proud of you. Having actually lived through the change and resurgence of classic Coke it was amazing how such a thing could cause so much controversy.
Ieolus not sure what corn syrup might be analogous to perhaps the talent trees and cross talent combos, I thought they were pretty sweet.

Yes but in the end the people wanted their old coke back, so in a way the people won as well, that being said the same does not hold true for bioware who are experiencing a loss in sales why origins was picking up speed
Yes the people won; they got their old coke back... except they replaced sugar with corn syrup. What analogy can we come up with now?
DA3 will revert to Origins engine, combat, etc... except for Flemeth. She will keep her new hottness (GMILF, oh yes).
Good one. Analogy is this
Corn Refiners of America (giant lobby group that helps Corporate Owned Factory Farms get laws passed in their favor) are the ones responsible for the vile HFCS being in every product ever made in american, including Blu Ray discs!
So this giant, evil lobby group that works on behalf of corporate interests, and by proxy, greedy Suit wearing MBAs?
Electronic Arts
Just like the Corn Lobby wants you to believe that MAN MADE high fructose corn syrup is "the same as cane sugar" (100% lie) EA wants us to believe that LOL Underwear Sex and GUNS LOL and Respawning COD gameplay = RPG...

Pepsi had pepsi crystal, which was a comparable failed product
To Haexpane: Pepsi is very popular in Quebec.

While playing the game and reading the forums I was reminded of this industry blunder that occurred 25 years ago. Coca-Cola sales had been dropping for the previous 15years, so in an effort to revitalize the industry and capture market share back from it's competitors Coke decide to change it's formula. A bold move except that it backfired because it put off it's core customers who wanted nothing but the original Coke so a few months later the original recipie was reintroduced as Coca-Cola classic. The attached link is the company spin on what happened but I lived through it and remember it well, the uproar was overwhelming, very similiar to what is happening here. I guess the best message would be "don't mess with a good thing".

Interesting analogy. I'm too young to remember the "New Coke" thing(before my time) so i can't comment comment but people's reaction to it sounds very familier to DA2.
I'm a Pepsi guy, btw.

So can DA2 be akin to Pepsi Crystal then? :innocent:

...So going from 60,000 sales in week 1 to 6,000 in week 3 is considered going up?Dubya75 wrote...
Yeah, except it's really not the same at all! Dragon Age is heading in the right direction whether you like it or not. Sales are not down, in fact their up compared to the first two weeks of Origins sales.
You don't even need solid numbers to say that sales are not going baddly, the ME2 add in wouldn't have been added in so soon either if sales weren't down, I wouldn't have to go into a store and see DA2 prices slashed in half, only to ask the guy behind the register and he'll tell me 'Sales haven't been well since week 1, we've just been going down and down ever since'.

Well to make it simple, pepsi is more popular than coke in Quebec.
This article explains a bit more on it
