I still think the LI's will be full squadmates, and the non-LI's will be a mix of cameos, semi-squaddies, and one-mission squaddies.

This is kinda what I'm hoping. Now, I know some people are going to be key to the overall story. The VS definately is as in ME 2 it was very clear they were doing something major for the alliance that they couldn't tell shepard about. Liara i think we saw why she is centeral from her DLC for ME 2. I'm interested to see why they have Garrus be a full squadmate other than he has pretty much been like Shepards right hand man through the whole series up to this point, he's the only squadmate I can see going with shepard to the very end simply because he believes in him/her and or is a LI for the ladies. I have a lot of ME 2 play throughs, I've got one with every male LI option includeing staying with the ME 1 LI. It would be nice that they stay with my squad this time around instead of having them sidelined and basically make it so you may as well have stuck with your first ME 1 LI since they are the only ones there at the end. FYI, Jack i think is still one of my favorite LI besides Tali, I want them on my ship damn it!

No what I'm saying is the "ME2 people can't be squadmates because they can't impact the plot" is a completely retarded argument. Unless the game is specifically about Shepard's interaction with the squad (ME2) NONE of the squadmates in Mass Effect have impacted really anything beyond following Shepard around and shooting crap. Mordin and Liara are the only people who impacted the story while actually in the squad and that was about 10 minutes of 20+ hour games.

Yes and that is the reason why ME2's plot sucked. Nothing really mattered! Nobody had any impact on anything. I just went ahead and assumed Bioware did that in order to avoid too many variables going into ME3 and that ME3 will be different in that regard.

Nobody had an impact on anything you say? Tech specialist, fire team leaders, biotic barrier and line holders, everyone was really good at least one thing on the final mission, which was the entire point of the game. Building a squad of specialists for the 'impossible' mission. If you didn't make characters loyal, chose specialists in the mission poorly etc. Shepard dies. So of course the characters in ME2 were plot integral.

This. People tend to mention plot, but seem to forget that combat situations is a huge part of survival. If your squad didn't help you out in fights all the way to the end chances are you wouldn't survive the suicide mission. That was certainly a possible ending in ME2. Pretty important to story wouldn't you people say?

As long as Garrus is a companion I'm happy. I also hope Legion returns. For some reason I had a feeling that Legion was Shepards #2 fan

I have some reservations about temporary squadmates.

Will we be able to level them up and customize their weaponry? We could in LotsB with Liara, but she didn't have as many points as other squadmates for some reason.

How frequently will new characters be introduced and how long do they last? Liara worked as a temporary squadmate because you were with her for a significant amount of time in the DLC. If I only get to have Mordin on my team for fifteen minutes before being shuttled off to help Samara for ten, I'll be left wanting more.

I like the flexibility in combat that ME2's wide array of squadmates provide. I understand being forced to use specific squadmates for specific missions, like loyalty missions in ME2. But I still want to have some choices about whom I take with me.

Honestly...if you didnt romance Jack, then she is most likely gone. She left for the nearest port. Cameo.

Jacob...not sure about him. May be one of those low level squaddie

Miranda...I romanced her, I think she'll be in. If you didn't romance her...she'll still be in. She's pretty much your
second in command still, and broke all ties for you. She'll play a big role I think

Garrus...yes- Big role

Tali...back to the fleet- possibly big role with Quarians

Legion...Geth- do I need to say that he plays one of the biggest roles in the game?

Mordin...working in A lab...hopefully Normandy's

Liara...with you undoubtedly. You gotta believe that she installed some SB tech on the Normandy. I mean, a drive by broker is super effective in this situation. plays a big role

Samara...gone...cameo.

Grunt...definately returning. OR, he may be able to fight by Wrex's side...as a proving type thing/hyping the Krogan race.

Ash/Kaidan...they're gonna be back. It's been a longgg time coming. Big role there
Thane...possibly for one last fight...if not, Cameo

Zaeed/Kasumi...Cameos. They were cool, but thats about it for them

you might be right about miranda if she with you at the last fight and do the good ending she quits Cerberus
