This is good stuff, and I'd be totally okay with it if BW handled it this way.

Once again, you have created a situation where I want to go to there.

If you had to choose between an all-turian squad or Entire Team is Jacob, what would it be?

I plead the fifth?

I'm going to kill all the new squadmates! Don't ask me how! I'll find a way.

It would suck if we only have 4 permanent squaddies. But I could definitely live with your thesis. The Garrus withdrawals would be significant, but I can cope.

Maybe.

I'll kill Liara just so she can join the realm of us lowly mortals, then I'll try to find a way to kill anyone who can't die.

Bioware hates me. The two squadmembers I like the most are either absurdly hard to kill (Miranda) or immortal (Liara)

The real question now is, will the comic let you choose who lives and who dies in the SM to an extent?

Eh this is the one thing that scares me the most for ME3. Thing is we'll all have to endure some horrid comic now at the start of ME3. Not looking forward it, especially given how bad the PS3 one was. I will not be surprised to see Mordin using Biotics... and Shepard will probably say stuff like:

"Dr. Chakwas was a cute girl, had a few drinks with her in the med-bay."

If you tell Miranda to generate the barrier, does she die?

No, one of your other squadmates will die.

Honestly, I think that the comic (or the default save) will both default to you only having a couple of characters dead. Probably no more than 3-4, and less important ones, most likely. Allowing you to choose to kill of squad members who are coming back full-time, while saving the lives of cameos, seems unproductive - especially for those who are using the comic to jump in, rather than those who are using it to test something.

I... got the impression that you'll only want to use the comic if you didn't play ME2, or possibly if you realize you want to change a major choice you made?  Even if I want to gin up some interesting scenarios with different choices, I'd probably use one of the ME saves databases, rather than the comic.

Oh god, you aren't a... PS3 player are you?

Miranda can't die until the hold line part (and like nearly the entire squad has to be dead), or if you take her to the final battle and she isn't loyal.

Otherwise, her plot armor saves her.

At this point I'm not expecting to see much of anything of Zaeed and Kasumi. It's a shame but I'm not going to be surprised.

As far as Garrus being a permanent or temporary squadmate it's really going to break down to how many new squad members are revealed.

If we only get a few, it's likely Garrus will stay as a perm and if we get more he might end up a temp.

No, but I do own a PS3. But between the lack of ME1 and the (IMO) subpar intro comic there's no way  I'd switch over to ME2 on the PS3. If ME1 was present I might be tempted too, namely cause I never had my PS3 die (and teh interwebs usage is free). Of course if I was truly wise I'd upgrade my aging PC, but I prefer to have controller in hand for most games.

But from what I understand everyone who plays ME3 will see a recap comic. If you import a save you will still see the comic, but it will play out automatically with all your decisions.

I don't think the comic will kill anyone off. It will most likely recap solely the Suicide Mission and let you make the same decisions. That way could play a new game in ME3 with everyone alive. I guess it's not entirely bad since it will be something of a "save editor", but the PS3 ME2 comic made me cringe a bit. The art interpretation doesn't bother me, well it's not great, it just recaps ME1 very poorly and somewhat inaccurately. Although it is difficult to sum up a 40 hour game no matter what, this is true. Although what I dislike most is the notion that there are really only 6 important decisions from ME1.

-Did you have sexy time?
-Did you kill that bug Queen?
-Did you kill Wrex?
-Who'd you let die on Virmire?
-Did you save the Council?
-Udina or Anderson?

I got the impression that the comic would be available but optional, and that everyone would get a "previously on mass effect" cutscene at the beginning, unrelated to the comic. Does anyone who has read the actual article have a solid handle on which one is probably correct?

And yeah, I play ME on a PC. I don't even have an XBOX and never have, I have a WII and I borrow a friend's PS3 sometimes, but I can't imagine living without a PC. Then again I'm also an MMO player, sooooooo. Yeeees.

Yes that would help make "6". Should probably edit that...

Well I have actually uh... read a certain article in full detail about certain things.

(But yeah pretty sure comic intro is mandatory.)
