Garrus seemed to be more like the Punisher to me. Punisher just shoots the bad guys, like Garrus.  Batman throws them in jail.

True, true.

And so was Thane for a while (after his wife died).

Why do all my favorite squadmates murder for justice?

Heh, "Murder for Justice". I just had this funny DA2 moment when I saw that.

Actually, DA2 doesn't fit that one.  My faves are Varric and Isabela.  WHAT NOW WHAT?

Garrus is like, one of the least plot important characters in the games. He is pretty much just there

Also Keener just said he started recording lines for Garrus on Facebook.

Saw that. Hopefully we here some info regarding the rest of the V.A's. Have they got Facebook or Twitter? Just so we can keep tabs on any annoucements similar to Brandons?

In terms of "plot importance", yeah, Garrus is pretty much insignificant. However, he does fill the role of "close friend and advisor" quite nicely. It's true, though, that he really shouldn't be one of the "Oh, you have this guy backing you up so we're totally going to listen to you now" squaddies. He's too much of a rebel for that.

Unless the commander of the Turian fleet happens to be his flexible sparring companion or something.

I'd pay money to see Garrus' face during THAT cutscene.

Brandon is the only one who is actually active.

Though Legion's and Jack's have a twitter.

FemShep and the hypothetical Commander wold totally have a joke about Garrus' reach. He would be devastated.

FemTurian: Vakarian?

Garrus: Uh, yeah.  Hi. *avoids looking at her*

Shep: You two know each other?

FemTur: We served on the same ship together.  ****** thought he could get into bed with me if he beat me in a sparring match.  I kicked his ass.

Shep: Wait...  So that whole "reach and flexibility" thing...  You made that up?

Garrus:  No, I--

FemTur: *glare*

Garrus: Yes.

Shep: You are so full of sh*t sometimes...

All I want as teammates are Liara, Samara, and Wrex. Wrex is the greatest teammate, unless grunt becomes a krogan battlemaster, then I would be fine with that, but you have to have both asari. Double biotic masters by your side, nuff said

I feel bad for Sanders.

He is going to be hated since the fandumb of this forum will hate him for replacing one of their favorites.

Poor fella probably won't deserve it, either.

I'm already prejudiced against him because he's probably related to Kahlee.

Someone (Sorry, but it is most likely going to happen) isn't going to get in.

And that person's fans are going to take it out on Sanders.

...anyway...

I reckon that there'll be a core group of compulsory squadmates, say, Liara, Ashley/Kaiden, Wrex/Wreav and James Sanders, then you'll pick up various possible recruits along the way - since there are 12 spaces on the Normandy, there will be a maximum of 8 other characters that you can recruit, consisting of, say, Mordin, Grunt (both gained from solving the genophage issue), Garrus (gained whilst gaining Turian loyalty), Tali, Legion (both gained from solving the Geth/Quarian war), one of Miranda, Jacob or another Cerberus employee (a choice you make on a mission involving taking down Cerberus), a new Asari (whilst gaining asari loyalty) and, just maybe, Kolyat, Thane's son. Evidently, the less who survived ME2, the less squadmates you'll have in ME3.

As for those who I have ommited, Thane would have died by that point, and I imagine that there will be a mission involving going to Kahje to his funeral, gaining Drell and Hanar loyalty along the way, and picking up Kolyat, Samara has probably gone off doing justicar-y things, providing she survived, although she may appear in a non-squaddie role, and Jack might appear in some cameo role, maybe joining you briefly to help take down Cerberus, but otherwise staying out of your way.

Your thoughts?

Does anyone like Kolyat? And actually want him as a squaddie?

He keeps getting brought up as a Thane replacement, and, while Thane is not even in my "top half" of squadmates, I'm not trading in my assassin trained from birth for some whiny pipsqueak who can't point a goddam gun straight.

Feron, maybe. Some Drell to be named later? Sure. Kolyat? Ugh, that is made of no. I'm not trying to make fun here, I'm just curious if anyone disagrees - is anyone super excited about the idea of having him on board? Or are people just pulling him out as "the only other Drell whose name we recognize."

I'm also not convinced that Thane will be dead yet. Still dying is more likely, given the timescheme. (I'm assuming about 6 months from the start of ME2 to the start of ME3.) He might have another few missions in him, or at least a single mission cameo, with optional romance continuance if romanced in ME2.

I can confirm that I, at least, don't give a damn about Kolyat. Better to bring back Thane (though still dying), or give us Feron (who is way more awesome than Kolyat), or an unnamed new Drell.
