Hey All,

Just a thought, I think giving things tell the end of the week will be fair and should see some progress to this DLC issue by then,

If not however I think that people should start cancelling pre-orders on stuff if they haven't done so already, maybe that will speed things up for a fix.

Not at all.  I think cancelling pre-orders and stuff is a little bit of an extreme reaction.  Insisting on a response is not, however.  I've noticed that many of those folks who have gotten store credit over this issue have said they'll buy more Bioware points, and thus more DLC.  Bioware and EA should take it as proof of their customer's high regard (and thus, in this case, profound disappointment).

You're a lonely and insignificant troublemaker unless you can inspire a couple of thousand more to join you.

Cancelling your pre orders is a bit silly. It's like punishing yourself for feeling wronged by EA due to the recent server issues. Why ruin your own enjoyment of the latest games just to prove some sort of point?

Do we have a choice? I can't play the DLC I paid for and want to, I'll only be able to do so once EA/Bioware gets this issue fixed.
So I HAVE to wait for them to get this fixed, if it takes to the end of this week or to the end of this year.

My options? Limited, nothing I can really do. Those that think lawsuit etc., the amount of money I paid for the DLC is less then 100$, not worth my time and hassle or a lawyers either.

I did cancel my pre-order for SW: Old Republic, but not as form of threat or retribution. It's a conclusion I made. If they can't get their servers working for an offline game I highly doubt they will be able to do so for an online game.

I can vent in some threads here and I can contact EA Support every day till they get it fixed, but that is all I can do.

(As a side note, if everyone contacted EA Support everyday till this issue gets fixed this would have more of an impact on EA then canceling pre-orders)

How they have not fixed this yet is beyond me, it's unacceptable and should get their full attention. I usually don't get riled up like this, but I have payed money to play a game and I expect it to work, they've made this absurd system, they should take responsibility for it aswell.

They should've fixed this a couple of days ago, giving them until friday is being way to lenient.

That you won't be able to use due to, " Server Issues "  Hmmmmm...........

Are you a computer engineer? Do you work on server maintainence? How do you know when it should have been fixed?

I'm neither, but I can say that other companies who's businesses depend on having functional servers do manage to have functional servers, and when their servers go down, replace them immediately.

Seriously, its just an authentication server. If I had to guess, its just a dime-a-dozen server you can buy at a store. Its not like its hosting multiplayer instances or anything. Its responding to a bit of code. Its probably less difficult to operate than a website, once you have functional software.

So even if they totally fried it, or installed some software update that completely wrecked things, they could just plug in a new server running the old software.

If its more complex than that... it probably shouldn't be.

Oh and by the way EA has the right to share all the info they have on you with other companies if they want to sell you stuff as you agreed when you accept EA online privacy/term of service contract with one of their games.

I've done lots of such stuff (including head sysadmin at an ISP for my sins) - and I just wanted to annoy you by claiming that it's almost unheard of for these things to take as long as a day to resolve (one way or another).

As a matter of fact, I had planned to (finally) buy Awakening and Witch Hunt these days, but I'm waiting now how things develop...

Manure does happen. And things need time to get fixed. What I cannot accept is that over the weekend, NOBODY was informed about the real issues at hand, not even tech support. They told people to re-install DLC, to re-install Dragon Age, to wipe their HDs, whe all it would have taken is a simple sticky message on these boards and a note to the tech support team!

And meanwhile, people spent the weekend on these boards trying to figure out what really was the problem.

Moondoggie:
I work at the NOC in a ISP, and I can tell you for sure, when we have a problem with our authentication server, the problem is gone in 1-3 hours, so whatever excuse they have, it's worthless.
Once you paid they don't care, and I keep telling myself time after time I won't buy any more Bioware Games because their support is awful, but besides The Witcher there hasn't been any decent RPG during the last years, so I keep caving in.

Hi All,

Sorry to read your all having this issue as well, and I tried everything I felt comfortable doing in the trouble-shooter threads. I never did the XLM edit of the 1's and zeros but I would suspect that this is just a slight work-around and no different then what the main game tells you already if you get the window for the forced load option, " Nice try Bioware " I'm not force loading anything that may make me loose DLC content and mess up my game for later use. I am almost at the end of this approx 2 more areas to go then I HOPE I can start DA2 to follow the story line.

The one thing I would like to suggest to those like myself that have no DLC appearing at all is to go to th troble shooter pages for this and MANUALLY download all your content that your intitled toat least it will be back in there and "Enabled " but " Un-Authorized " Then don't do a thing with it, we'll just have to be patient.

I was in contact with EA Chat support and basically got nothing for a definitive answer and the suggested fix that was given to me only made me loose all my previously ' Manually " download DLC now I am back to square 1

Thanks Alot support,

Just a thought????? Wouldn't it be a better idea to test new updates and patches on a seperate sever first for adverse effects before making it availible to thousands of fans of DA only to mess up their games and causing undue head-aches for leagally purchased content. We bought this DA series to sit down and relax and get away from the Head-Aches and Hassles of Life and Work, only now to be brought down by these hassles and headaches.

If there are sever issues and need to be addressed fine or maybe you need to set up more servers to accomodate that more people are playing this series, well I think it would be a better thing to just make a post or send and e-mail and say something to the effect of,

" Due to the growing intrest in our DA series Bioware/EA will have to use more serveres thusly it is reccomended not to play DA while we install the new servers as it may cause adverse effects with your game.

We here at Biware/EA are sorry for your inconvenience and only want to bring you the best gaming experience possible with the least interuption "

An email will be sent when servers are back online."

Heck you wouldn't even have to send an e-mail just put the message in the load screen of DragonAge where I have seen all the other info for new patches and new DLC, if you do that then people wouldn't even log in to big disappointment, and try all these potential fixes that only will more than likely cause more head-aches.

Well I said my 1000 gold pieces, can you tell that I'm upset.

Anyway hope we fans don't have to wait too long for a fix.

W.S

Well by the looks of things there still hasen't been any fixes yet oh my what a let down I was so close to finishing up DA:O.

Just for Giggles ( NOT!!! ) i reinstalled my DA:O. And Just for more Giggles ( NOT!!!! ) I maually downloaded all my DLC because I also got nothing showing in any of my tabs after that. So now after all my MANUAL downloading I got all mystuff showing again with some of the content " Enabled " but the majority shows enabled but UnAthorized.

I contemplated the 1's and 0's fix but I think I will leave well enough alone for now, I listened to EA support and thats what got me into that MANUAL Download mess in the first place, well at least I am back where this all began.

I seem to recall another situation like this reguarding NWN Premium Mods I legally paid for that stuff to, they took my money now I can't even get those mods anymore from my once online storage for them.

If I get shafted like that again I think I will just have to start a petition for a class action lawsuit.

HOLY-CRAPP!!! E.A/ Bioware I know you don't want your stuff pirated but there has to be a better way of authorizing, Geesh... if you want me to type in my CD key everytime I play I'll do it if that will somehow be an alternative.

Time to figure out a better way to treat your loyal fans, and not letting a server tell us we are pirates.

Cheers, W.S. Posted Image

If you had your content authorized once before Bloody Weekend (i. e. last), all it takes is log out before starting the game. So DA:O won't check the authorization servers and rely instead on informatioin stored on your own HD. DLC is enabled. No need to mess with xmls or re-install everthing.

I don't care how much time this takes for them to fix, a single player game should never have server downtime. Period. I can let it pass for a couple of hours, but a whole weekend and more? No way, they have implemented the system and should therefor take full responsibility for it.
