haha people have chosen their own definition of streamlined.

It's certainly smoother, but they reduced the length and girth.  It's far too small and shallow to be stimulating.

That's why they need to use the strap-on when the original fails to please the mass.

Yes, I just called ME2 a strap-on.

Strap-ons are so cold and artificial. I prefer my games to be more real, with warm blood pumping through them and a firm plot and solid gameplay.

But that's part of the problem. Bioware is stretched out so thin that it didn't have any energy left for this game. Thus the embarrassing, lame-ass try and damage control with the strap-on.

Well, I agree. BioWare should stick to the RPG genre and move away from the action/shooting. If I want to play shooting/action games, I will play games that specialise in those areas, rather than play a hybrid. I didn't like the combat in DA2 one bit. It was just hilarious to watch all those ninja moves. It's supposed to be a mature game, but I felt it was from some kind of action movie the 12 year olds watch.

When I played DA2, it didn't feel like a BioWare game... I can't explain... Atleast I played through it... <--- Even that was hard because the story was VERY bad in my opinion. The end boss was stupid and the ending was a let down. The fact that I "atleast" played through the game should tell you how much I hated it, as a BioWare game. If it would've come from another developer, sure, it would've been a decent game. But coming from BioWare, my favorite game developer company, it was a horrible game and should NOT have been called a sequel.

*Sigh*... I hope Origins would get a sequel... A real sequel that would blow our minds just like Origins did... *sigh*

Good times... Good times.

Why does someone toss that in at least once on every one of these threads?  It's an absolutely meaningless comment that does nothing for the conversation and proves nothing either way.

It is meaningful. I'm not sure how hard it is to register a game, like a couple of minutes tops? Unless then his definition of entitlement is void.

You saw what happened to that guy, he complained about EA so they locked his games that he paid for, all of them.

I'd rather keep Origins, thanks.

Hmm I remember you, do you make multiple accounts just to troll this specefic part of the forum? How the hell do you lock someone out of a single player game? DLC might be deactivated but from the main game? Yeah I don't think so.

This is one of the weakest lines you can ever utter - why would he register his games? hell I plan to remove my registrations once I'm through with DA2 and DA:O UT as I have in the past with games like DA:O.

Because he speaks as if he's bought the game without giving proper proof, ie going in the proper forum to discuss critercism. This part of the forum needs to be locked down entirely.. it serves no purpose whatsoever.

You know he could just register a ps3 copy by googling "ps3 da2 upc number" correct? Would him taking that extra step somehow lend him the credibility you wish for him to have? Or are you going to say anyone who got the ps3 version of DA2 to be a troll?

When the mountain of evidence supports it, then yes it does. Why not add your profound insight to the inner workings at Bioware in the proper forum, if your intention is to start an intelligent debate.

Because attempting to start an intelligent debate with people who will cry "TROOOOOOOOL" from the rooftops because you won't shove a receipt in their face when they ask if you have the game is like spitting while facing the wind.

Let's leave the accusations of troll out of the discussion, okay?

Packardbell, there is NO obligation to register the game to post in this forum. And lack of registration does not mean a person's opinion carries any less weight than someone who has registered.

So enough sniping at each other, and get back to discussing the topic.

I doubt it will be that easy considering nobody would be stupid enough to scan that number and post it on the very public Internet. As a test I searched.. to no avail.

So Mass Effect still has tons of potential. But yeah, I probably won't buy another DA game until I've seen actual user feedback(Gamespot user reviews, and some gameplay vids off youtube)

Dragon Age didn't lose its Lead Writer, Mr. David Gaider.  He and his primary writing staff have been a solid core team for many years now.  I believe you must have been referring to DA:O/A's Lead Designer, Mr. Brent Knowles.

And while that change is obviously felt throughout DA2, it's also obvious that the decision to make such a major change in game-style could have led to a new Designer.  (Whether that change was, in the end, a good one is the subject of many other discussions.)  That Mr. Knowles then felt it was time to leave BioWare entirely is a seperate topic.

Seeing as how this isn;t a spoiler for ME3 it's been in development since ME2 was finished right?
Or was there like a break/vacation type thing or something?

The worlds they create are great and have great potential Even if they use many real worlds references (Andraste - Joan of Arc, Jesus, prophet Muhammad etc)

They just struggle with proper execution miserably in DA2. Story might have been good but storytelling was very poor and that is just one of many great flaws of this game. Oh and I don't want to see excuses like, "It's because Varric is telling a story". Yeah everything else sucks because Varric is telling a story? Sounds like a cheap cop-out.

Slight correction, DAO had 3 Lead Designers, Ohlsen (now working on SW:TOR), Knowles (Left the industry to write books) and Laidlaw (Now LD for DA 2).

Legally there were 3 leads but Ohlsen did not do anything before leavling for TOR and Laidlaw had no DAO input he was added after DAO was done, just in time for the console ports.

I'm sorry you feel like BW killed one of your relatives, but they haven't destroyed any series yet. DA2 is a good game. It's just not a great game like people generally expect from the studio.

You
create a game where your characters backstory is even selected by the
player, with a good long story and a clear motivation. You had the best
combat of any PC game released that year, and the only characters I've
cared about in a long time.

Really? I thought the combat was pretty bland in DA:O.

The characters were good, but they were also very predictable. If you liked them, Kudos.

Then you say the dreaded word streamlined which, basically means "We're removing the good parts in favour of dumber versions of them." that was not shagadellic.

Alternatively, since every single one of the "Good Parts" you mentioned above are in DA2, you're whining about something else and would like to imply that those of us who enjoyed DA2 are somehow inferior to your glorious, golden visage.

THEN you go on to say, we're making the main character voiced, removing
the epic journey, and removing the ability to chose your race.
You removed all the things that made me and the people I've recommended it to love Origins.

What's this? Something new?! HERESY! HERESY I SAY!

Okay, okay, maybe not so much. However, if they removed the things you loved about Origins (and you knew they did this - since they had a Demo and weren't shy about these features)... and still bought the game anyways, it's your fault.

I don't buy games I know I won't like.

I
mean, every part of Origins sucked you in, i only realised i should
have stopped playing hours ago when i got up to go to the toilet and
realised it was 5 in the morning. But with DA 2 i always stopped playing
early.

Cool. It's not your game. Understandable. NFL Matchup 2010 isn't my game, either.

When you have a game that someone can play till 5AM and not realise ti, you know you've made a good game.

You removed so much and added so little, how didn't you think this would bomb?

Maybe once you take your head out of the sand and realize that opinions can differ from yours, you'll find your answer.

I enjoyed the more dynamic combat, the more stylized races and graphics, the storyline that (for once) didn't have you saving the Universe, the complex and commonly occurring party banter, and I honestly didn't mind the VO for Hawke, or being limited to a Human.

I did mind the re-used enviornments, the pacing of the first two acts, and the token appearance by Flemeth.

But what the %$#! would I know - I'm just a dimwitted, knuckle-dragging sheeple compared to the Ubermensch of the Old-School RPG players.

Conclusion: I'm cool with you not liking DA2 and providing constructive criticism.

I'm not cool with you just hating on the game and implying those who like it are beneath you.
