Additionally there is a good post by Sil in the characters thread that explain how/why the alterations to Ash in the photo are both believable/make sense.

What waiting? They've been doing that since the instant the image appeared.

I wonder how many of those who say Ash's new look goes against the grain of "a military woman" have actually served with women in the military? Its my experience that especially off duty, females (males to for that matter, particularly in high stress jobs) tend to try and find any way possible to differentiate themselves from their job when/if they get a chance.
If you read the thread you would notice that people are afraid that she will have the same hair in combat situations too. I mean do you remember a single bioware character that has had his/her hair differently in the "base"?
Also in my experience military women are much more masculine off duty too and tend to wear plain and practical clothes.

Ashley was way too Terra Firma party for my viewpoint on a galaxy full of life and all that.
Ashley thinks Terra Firma is a bunch of jackals. She HATES them. You ever bring her around for the "My Own Worst Enemy" assignment back in ME1?
People are convinced that Ashley is a racist when she's not.
She just doesn't trust aliens, and considering her family history, you would see why.
Its not even that. Its not that she doesn't trust aliens(although that is a part of it), its that she believes we need to put more faith in ourselves and our own race over them.
You can change her opinion and make her believe that we're all on equal terms though, which is what I did. I hope that has an effect on her dialogue in ME3.
Her comment in ME2 about not trusting aliens was TOTALLY out of place to me after I made her change her opinion back in ME1.
Honestly, I'm tired of her being called a racist when she's not. I hope ME3 can convince others she isn't what they think she is.
Just like how Kaiden has more depth than most people believe. Sure, he's not the most interesting character around, but hey, he's miles ahead of Jacob(in my opinion, at least).

I don't get it. Ash's bun in the first game implies that she already has really long hair however she puts it in the bun to keep it under control while on duty. The only change here is Ash having her hair down casually.

I really wonder what was people's reaction towards the redesign of Tali like before the release of me2
There wasn't anything really because they didn't try to change her whole character.

For now it means nothing, you know nothing, you are only speculating unnecessarily ( yes ashley has a catsuit in battle, yes ashley will not wear armor ), you scare on a single image. That's all.
For the moment, your reactions are not decent.
Liara has also changed greatly, and so much better. Before she lacked personality, now I love it since the DLC.
Tali has evolved graphically, and in personality, I loved it. We saw that each character that has evolved has become much more adorable.

Fanservice is mostly very cheap thing. Ashley in ME 1 wasnt the type that would "whoring herself in that uniform". She is soldier that into battle wears heavy armor, because she has no biotic abilities that could protect her.
We dont know how she will look like in the final game, but worries are not unreasonable, considering high heels and space boobs from ME2.

Totally agree. Tali's body is much more attractive. I had not even noticed her in M1. And in M2, I thought, wow she is hot. Just look at her body, not tell me there was nothing done.so..?tali also looks much plumpier in me2
And especially Mark Walter has done a great job, because Tali has seen her personality grow.

I like ash's new look and i think she is even more interesting than before, and i somehow regret leaving her in Virmire since i like kaidan more.
Actually, regarding miranda's boobs and high heels, some male gamers i know dont give a damn about them because they think miranda is fugly.lol

Ash running in bikini would be pretty bad. jk
Also I find Miranda kind of ugly too. Her face is too near the "uncanny valley" I think.
