To anyone who saw my earlier post about a mod on Nexus, that was for fixing the memory leak issue for Asuryan's benefit, not for fixing THIS issue here. I don't want to be blamed for sending someone on a hunt for fictional code.

And like many people have said, they make back-up servers. I realize IT can be difficult, but this is 3.5 days now and that's rather inexcusable. Furthermore, it's the lack of considering by the company that's killing us more than the downtime; I could see them not bothering to acknowledge the issue for a few hours, if they thought it'd be fixed in that time. But after that, this topic should have been sometime Friday afternoon, and we should get updates every like 12 hours or so. I don't care if the update is just some guy apologizing again, at least it's an update. EA won't even pay someone the 50 cents it would cost them to tell someone to make a single, 2 sentence post on a message board, and to update their customer service reps on the issue. THAT is where it veers into "We don't care about you gamers" territory, because they CAN control that and choose not to.

Ah, the trials and tribulations of questing around the Anti-Maker's macinations.  The evil demon, Bioware, plucks my stings like a marionette then tosses me to the side yet once more...unused....unauthorized.

Let me tell you a tale of woe and striffe that started out on a day much like this one.  Well, actually this one to be so precise.

Much did I toil to remove the dastardly enchantments that pocessed my magical mirror.  One, twice, thrice did it reject my pleas to reveal to mine eyes what I desired.  Distraught over my failure to illicit anything of note from the mirror, I traversed to the local blacksmithy to barter and hopefully have my faithful wagon repaired.  With a grim smirk, did the smith tell me the news that my aire conditionable compressor was nigh on close to failure.  It was with a saddened heart that I recieved his bill for 500 gold pieces!  Alas!  What was I to do with such a heinous debt?  With a saddened heart I returned home from these travels to be met by mine own aged grandfather with news that his Outlook Express Chanter's Board was no longer spreading the messages he so dilligently affixed day in and day out.  From the sweat of my brow, was I able to at last able to repair the board....to a certain extent.

Now doth I sit upon my throne gnashing my teeth staring vainly into the magical mirror that started my tragic comedy.  Now doth I sit and wait till the stillness of the night close my eyes to restless slumber and a quiet murmur upon my lips.....a quiet curse I wish upon that dreaded demon.  "From the Black City, I stab at thee!"

My latest exchange with EA Tech Support:

Philbert: Hi, my name is Philbert. How may I help you?
2250803479: Seriously, your name is Philbert?
2250803479: Sorry, that was just a little surprising
2250803479: So what's the deal with the DAO authentication servers? Any news?
Philbert: hi
Philbert: May I please place you on hold while I check this for you?
2250803479: Sure
Philbert: thanks
Philbert: I would like to inform you that it's a known issue and is being worked upon. Please stay put and it'll be fixed soon.
Philbert: It's not an existing bug but a known issue that just popped up. It's temporary and will be fixed in next 24 - 48 hours.
2250803479: This issue started on Friday. And they were telling people 24-48 hours on Friday.
Philbert: We are sorry for the inconvenience, we are still working to resolve it, it should get resolve in next 48 hrs.
2250803479: So why didn't you just have your name on here say Phil?
Philbert: Its Philbert
2250803479: But... Wouldn't most people named Philbert just go by Phil, for the sake of ease?
Philbert: Yes, it's true, you can say phil
2250803479: Well anyway... The general gist of things is you don't really have any idea when it will be fixed, then?
2250803479: Wait, do I need to send that as an "off the record" message to get a real answer? is that the trick here?
Philbert: It should get resolved in next48hrs
2250803479: Man. Eddie Murphy and Nick Nolte can save San Franciso from criminals in 48 hours, but it takes you guys that long to fix a server?
2250803479: I'm forced to assume something must have exploded.
Philbert: I really appreciate your time and cooperation
2250803479: Right. Well, thanks Phil. Looks like neither of us is getting anything else out of this. Have a good one.
Philbert: Is there anything further I may assist you with today?
2250803479: Doesn't look like it. Thanks.
Philbert: Thank you for your participation in the EA Games Chat Support
Have a wonderful day.
Philbert: bye
Philbert: take care

Playing GalCiv2 instead of reading this thread sounds like a solution for me, actually.

I doubt they'll fix it in the next few minutes since it's been down for several days now...

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Huh.
People complaining on the forums, then suddenly... the forums go down for maintenance. And DA:O says it's unable to log in. Hopes arise! "They're bringing down the servers, maybe they're working on the problem right now! I can picture them in my mind, casting Resurrect on the servers (or bashing them repeatedly with hammers to get them to work, doesn't matter)!" And then the forums are back up again! And then DA:O can login again! And...
...no, still nothing.
Totally. Anticlimatic.

Now I won't ever be able to read the Support's answers again, without hearing in my mind those words as if they were spoken by the Wonders of Thedas shopkeeper.

I understand the fury over the servers not working for like 3+ days (or even more?) now, but isn't there a pretty simple fix in the meantime? Just logout of the server, and your DLC should work just fine?

That only works if you haven't been logged in prior. As soon as your account logs in, it deauthorises the DLC and then it stays that way.

I know what I'm going to do as soon as the authentication server is back up and has authorised my DLC... Disable auto login and never log in again :)

Philbert says "nope, if you've already logged in it de-authorises your profile"

*EDIT*

Apparently Philbert is a Frog, not a dog

http://en.wikipedia....i/Philbert_Frog

I'm going to search for him on youtube
