Hey forum is back, so whats the new,s did they fix it or it was just another forum glitch?

Just another forum gitch, all it takes it 2 users to try to refresh a page in the same second and the forum has a hissy fit

DA:O has improved slightly, it now at least tells me it failed to login, please try again

I understand the fury over the servers not working for like 3+ days (or even more?) now, but isn't there a pretty simple fix in the meantime? Just logout of the server, and your DLC should work just fine?

work only if your DLC are already installed and even then i think you will lose some items, so it is not a viable solution for most people.

I have to say, this entire experience has left me with a SERIOUSLY bad taste in my mouth when it comes to EA and their tech support policies. If you create a game which requires server contact in order to authenticate your DLC, and if this authentication fails then all save games which utilized it will be unplayable, then that server simply cannot fail like this. [...]

bla bla bla people will never read that<_<

I should admit I tryed, lol. That what's called "a wall of text"..
And on the topic: too much hatred here...RedundantCookie and other guys, where are ye??..Blessed are the peacekeepers, champions of the just.

Aww poor thing! Don't worry the Cookie is watching from Morpheus land... with insomnia! The dream continues to repeat itself - ahem - and here it is:

I dreamed everything was fixed. In my dream I opened the door and there were most of you, Harpy, Fuzzy, Raen... cheering and smiling, and you said: "We did it Cookie, we did it!". Some of the EA Reps came to the party too, we all joined Ferelden and cheered as Duncan was expecting us and told us: "We defeated them at Ostagar, we won, Warden, we won!"

We celebrated with some Orlesian pizza, dwarven ale (tasted horrible), and we danced! Then, in the dream, Duncan morphed into a Darkspawn, and it all turned into a Nightmare, the Darkspawn pointed at the screen where a big font text reading, "You are Unauthorized" showed up, and he started laughing. I gasped, in fear, and when I turned to look at the group, you were all Darkspawn as well! - It was horrible, HORRIBLE I tell you.

And now, back to bed to bury disappointment into the pillows! Ah, bitter-salty tears of unsated geekness!

PS: Also check out my song about the issue, a few pages back! :D

Honestly, with the time that this mess has gone on for, we should all get free bioware points or something. :/ I wanted to finish Golems this weekend as a reprieve before heading back into study. Guess that didn't happen!

Star, most of us were "compensated" with a $20 coupon over our odessy of pain and torture trying to contact EA with regards this issue during the weekend. I see no reason of why you couldn't politely request yours.

Ugh! What am I doing up? It's 5am! Back to bed to sleep at least two hours. *Shakes Fist* Darn you E.A., the emotional damage!  - Ok, bye now.

- Cookie out.

Ah, an official forum thread... Hm..
Don't think that will do much, some European online game sellers have already frozen all EA products.
So I guess Bioware better get of their lazy arses, and do something.

I sense a change in the Force... Servers are kind of up again, but still not working properly:

I can now start a game while logged in, however, I get the message "unable to access your online storage bla bla" and Levi Dryden is back in camp, tryin to sell me DLC I already own... so, it's LOG OUT again...

At least now we get an error message, so poeple won't shred their game in order to fix things on their own...

BTW, every DLC is authorized and working fine when I log out. Nothing missing.

Dam it bioware just fix this problem now its getting silly.
I hope this isnt a sign of things to come with swtor out later this year this kind of server down time with almost no public info would be disastrous.

thats the funny thing, EA seem surprised that people are still playing DA:O and awakenings, but they dont relise that what you do in DA:O changes the story (slightly) in DA2, plus after seeing the demo and reading Reviews DA1 is better than DA2

Offtopic:
Agree DA2 is a good game, but DAO/A is bettter.

DA2's have, what I know 2 drawbacks.
1. You can't gear up you companions as you like.
2. Reuse of caves and areas. Aka "Dejavu, haven't I been here before?"

And the 3rd I didn't count is that, the game feels short. (And there aren't any DLC's that adds game time atm)
/offtopic.

Ontopic:
Would love to see a "We now know exactly what is wrong, and it will be fixed as soon as we unplug the coffee machine, and reconnect the Server"

I just got a reply from Technical Support. I knew it was going to be bad when it started with "There are variety of programs running in the background on your computer which may be using a considerable amount of system resources ..."

How do you know? You've never seen or heard anything *about* my computer! The message goes on to suggest a bunch of ways to shut down background processes, then escalates to various levels of retry-restart-reinstall. All without ever *mentioning* the actual problem, which is their servers. My question is about suddenly unauthorized DLC, and that is never addressed in any way, in the response (which has obviously been cut and pasted from a standard list -- "Here is what to tell anyone running on a Mac").

Not really surprising, I guess, and yet I'm still a bit surprised at how completely this reply missed the point.

Sorry, but you are stretching my imagination a bit too far... although the result is, of course, the same.

2250803479: Sure
Philbert: thanks
Philbert: I would like to inform you that it's a known issue and is being worked upon. Please stay put and it'll be fixed soon.

(snip!)

Philbert: Is there anything further I may assist you with today?
2250803479: Doesn't look like it. Thanks.
Philbert: Thank you for your participation in the EA Games Chat Support
Have a wonderful day.

They should just release a patch that overrides any need for authentication. It's not a new game anymore there is no need for this kind of aggressive DRM!
