Yep ETA would be great, one ETA on table 3 please!

ETA has been 24-49 hours since Friday. So....

I'd say 24-48 hours. And if you read this message again tomorrow, it's still 24-48 hours. And if you read this 10 years from now, 24-28. That's EA's policy, apparently. Time seems to work differently at EA HQ... Time loop anyone?

I see Hackers, as a group as pretty stupid once you remove their keyboards from them.
Denial of Service attacks claiming to be done in the name of the customer only end up hurting players...if it is some sort of a Hack, then that is probably the LAST thing they would admit to us.

EA Download Manager just popped up a message that its servers are scheduled for maintanance today. Maybe that's somehow connected.

What if all EA servers were hacked? That'd explain why they were so silent and why they can't fix it so long.

When you tihnk about it ME 2 corrently have the smae server connectivty issus.
Add that to the fact that this very Social Network was taken down for maitanance eariler today and who knows....

BioWare/EA need to be made aware of the true extent of the damage done by this to their customer base.

I truly do not believe I will buy anything from BioWare - if I do, I'll buy it used from someone who hasn't used the special codes. There are people who dont just so they can resell it down the line. Or I'll just wait for a mega steam sale so they make less money.

I feel like we need to all get people to do this. To write letters and petitions on this. This needs to be addressed. For too long we, as customers, have been kicked around and abused by these game companies. They are failing to realize that this can happen, that this can hurt their bottom line.

This is far beyond an apology now. This is about them making right what went wrong. For them to come here to these forums to apologies. For them to publicly announce it on the major gaming news sites and magazines. For them to offer a form of compensation for the last 4 days beyond that 20 dollar coupon some of us got.

Personally, I think that is a bit unfair to the awesome work BioWare do.  I blame EA, not BioWare.  I DO agree that the silence and ignoring of this matter is unforgivable, but isn't it out of BioWare's hands?  EA have always been one of those companies I love to hate, just when I started to kind of like them for the games I have bought the last few years (Mirror's Edge, Dead Space, BioWare games etc, free PC Mass Effect 2 was nice too!), crap like this happens.  GET RID OF THE DRM EA!  It was only after I ordered Ultimate Edition from Amazon US last week,  that I read about the DLC needing an internet connection, which I don't always have.  By the time the servers are fixed, I probably wont be able to log in.  Thank God the PS3 version doesn't need me to sign into PSN to play it!

As a side note, I finally got around to playing Lair of the Shadow Broker on my 360 which I bought just before DA2 arrived and also purchased Arrival.  The game told me 2 of my previous downloads were currupt and needed to be downloaded again.  I'd love to know how they magically became currupt <_<

I agree that this is a problem with EA and thier customer support and not Bioware.
Yes, Bioware should have stepped up and said something sooner, but as far as I know this is an issue with an EA maintained server, therefore not Bioware's fault.
As for this particular style of DRM, I'm pretty sure it has already been abandoned (someone who has DA2 may be more up to date on what the current DRM strategy is)

You have to remove the Bioware Social Network maintainence from the equation. That was a pre-scheduled down-time that was given plenty of prior notice.
I didn't realize until yesterday that ME2 players were feeling the effects of this as well. Then I took a quick look at the Mass Effect forums and saw some players were having issues as well.

I would assume that BioWare is a big cash cow for EA, considering not many of their games appeal to the RPG core fanbase. Unless it were in the contract, I believe that if BioWare were to push back at EA or even threaten to leave based on EAs demands ahd ****ty service, EA might back off. Or sue their asses. One or the other.

Man, I hate big corporations. Square-Enix is pissing me off too.

Considering how their customer service rep acted towards me (denial of any server problems, an exact quote was "It's not that, dear" when I said I heard it was server problems), a hack seems likely, as it's not something they'd be too willing to confess to.

true if they said they got hacked to the public then hackers would more and likely target them more often so i can see why they denide it then

Well at least EA gave money for those who did Dead Space that was one of the best games i played for the last 5 years, but at the same time they almost killed Mirrors Edge 2 and only strong fanbase helped to save it, so yeah they are evil. B)

There's no evidence that this ongoing issue is the result of some sort of third-party, denial of service attack.  Indeed, given the number of people who post problems with DLC on this form when the servers are working... what we have here is a poorly executed system made worse by some sort of server outage or error.

One reason for the slowness of the response seems to be that Bioware is one division of Electronic Arts, and the server in question is operated by another division.  It's pretty obvious to me that no one from EA told the Bioware folks that there was a problem... or that, obviously, Bioware monitors this themselves.

Rob did not give us an official response until I and some others sent personal messages to the various Bioware employees listed on this site.  This appears to be compounded by the fact that Chris Priestly, the usual flak for Bioware, is appearanly on vacation this week (according to one of his co-workers).

Someone probably just tripped out a cable when they left for the weekend. Or maybe they spilled a cup of coffee on the server, and the reason they've been so quiet is because they want us to think the problem is more serious than it is.

I just don't see Bioware in a position to dictate anything to EA. EA made Bioware a subsidiary and I don't think there is anty way they can reverse that decision. The only option would be for the majority of Bioware's Executive Staff and Developers to walk away from their jobs and try to start a new Development Studio with no money, only fans willing to buy what they wouldn't be able to afford to produce. That would lead to a need for cash which would lead to (you guessed it) a Larger Corporation coming in & who knows...next time it could be Take Two and that woul dbe even WORSE! lol

Don't read too much into this... your theory requires one important fact that is NOT in evidence... that EA/Bioware effectively communicates internally.  The server outage went on for at least 72 hours before anyone made an official acknowledgement about it.  And I doubt a lowly "tech support" person reads these forums....

Their support have been saying everything from 12 hours to 72 hours all random the past 3 days.

Personally I'm amazed that they didn't manage to solve the problem yesterday.
I would have guessed that they straight up lied to us during the weekend saying engineers are looking on the problem when they where not. That wouldn't suprise tbh.
But that they can't solve it on a normal workday is strange (it could be understandable if the service was brand new, but it worked before), and it's amazing that they havn't released more information about the issue when it takes this long for them to do anything about it.
