My brother has given me this game(DaO: UE) for my 24th birthday, installed the game, redeemed the code. I followed the instructions correctly (if I was not mistaken) and I was looking forward to the DLC included in the Ultimate Edition. But when I looked upon the DLC section, I was unauthorized to get them? So this happens when I get my birthday present, EA server shuts down.

So, are we going to be emailed or something when this is working again? First timer on Dragon Age - so a couple of other queries, namely: if I started playing the game now, would I have to re-start it once this issue is fixed to get the DLCs or will they auto-include eventually?

Ouch! Thats Unlcuky. But don't give up on it yet, Dragon Age:Origins is one of the best games I've played. The servers will get up again eventually. *Touches Wood*

Yes, for you that could be a viable option, as long as you start the game with all the DLC disabled.

"Diarrhea (from the Greek διάρροια meaning "flowing through"), also spelled diarrhoea,"

Perhaps even both at the same time too?

Wow, still haven't fixed it?

READ- IMPORTANT MESSAGE for users with "Unathorized DLC" issue.

I just found out the horror when I went to my resume save game after the "Blight Weekend"It didn't work. Of course I went to scramble mode, first came haere after the normal log out log in did not work as usual.

I saw that it was an epidemic. I found out two things after experimenting.

A Client side WORK-AROUND -READ ALL BEFORE taking any action

First of all I always had issues with the server side of DLC so I had to do this and it works now.

YOUfollowing these instructions and conditions

1.) First of all I started the DAO Updater services, It was off in my services. ( I don't know if this has any effect but it was the first action I did so thought I would mention.

2.) Next you must have manually downloaded your DLC and Campaign content.

   *
Login to your Bioware Social Network Account ( you have already if you are reading this)

   * Under your profile Picture you will see your option menu (whats new, profile, My Content, My games, etc.)

   * Roll over the Profile option

   * Select Your registered game content from the slide out list

   * This will show you all DLC from every BIOWARE game that is handled by this Social Network that you own
    (DA:O, DA:A,DA2,ME2,WHO,etc.)

   * This list will have more info text or just download listed next to each item.

    * Click on these for each DLC you want and once it opens it will give you the option to manually download the
ZIP file with the DA.zip file contained for that specific content.

    * Once you do that unzip that content after putting it in a folder (I reccomend keeping a good file system for
    ease of use).

Double click the DA.zip and the DA Content update manager will open, add all files for that DLC.

     CLICK install

I installed the Campaign Darkspawn Chronicles over again via DA.zip updater and then ran DA:O

DO NOT LOG IN, UNCHECK the auto login option. I checked again all my content was installed and registered for use. If you log in the broken server will break your DLCs again. You must play in LOGGED OFF

Thats it I reinstalled one campaign and that cionvinced the launcher that it was authorized, as long as it doesn't try to contact the broken server, if your DLC updater service works, you may or may not as mentioned have to stop that as well.

The end result is launch DA:O uncheck Auto log in, log out. follow instructions. Try installing one campaign DLC at first. Launch DAO. DO NOT LOG IN. see if your content is all registered. if it is- THERE you go. PLAY ON my friends. If you have all the content who cares if it doesn't sloppily log your stats and screenshots for a while.

If not see if the content you just installed manually is there, if so you may need to do so for each DLC.

Do this for any content that you have in your DA:O section of registered DLCs YOU must Legally OWN the content and have had it authorized at least once somewhere along the line. That means it shows as authorized in the Social Forum not the game menu. As long as you own it basically.

IMPORTANT you may not have to download all of the content, but at least one.

I say this because my DA Updater service malfunctioned and I had to install all my DLC content manually so you MAY or May NOT be required to do this.

Mine were all installed by me on the client side previously, but this shouldn't matter but if the final step next does not work manually install all content you want to work

I hope this works for you all

Got it for my Bday too man, I feel your pain. I'm just going to disable the DLC and start playing - I feel as if I wait something else will just come up to cause problems - and judging from the posts about the issues with DLC I'm probably right.

Not entirely sure if this works for people who did a fresh install (New purchase, reinstall, etc). Or newly purchased DLC... but if someone wants to go through that and confirm, that couldn't hurt.

Some of the DLC (e.g. Feral Wolf Charm and 18 others) does not have a standalone download.

There's no evidence that this ongoing issue is the result of some sort of third-party, denial of service attack.  Indeed, given the number of people who post problems with DLC on this form when the servers are working... what we have here is a poorly executed system made worse by some sort of server outage or error.

One reason for the slowness of the response seems to be that Bioware is one division of Electronic Arts, and the server in question is operated by another division.  It's pretty obvious to me that no one from EA told the Bioware folks that there was a problem... or that, obviously, Bioware monitors this themselves.

Rob did not give us an official response until I and some others sent personal messages to the various Bioware employees listed on this site.  This appears to be compounded by the fact that Chris Priestly, the usual flak for Bioware, is appearanly on vacation this week (according to one of his co-workers).

That makes sense,
What does not however is that the game still has issues in game.
One of which on pc dates from release, and was frequently posted about then.
Some posts here also show recuring issues, a few of these problems have third party work arounds.
Why does Bioware.. not EA, spend some time fixing issues for a game that is both still being bought and releasing new editions for.

Having one hand wash another and not checking what is going on for fear of finding out is ethically dubious.

It is still not fixed, really? Is there something you do not want to tell us perhaps?

Please bring out an update that removes this not so great DRM system. Those who have hacked the game can happily play it and the honest buyers can only hope that this problem will be fixed by the end of this week. If you ever implement such a DLC scheme again in one of your future games I will most definitely not buy it. EA and BioWare, shame on you!

And tell me this, can we still play it 5 years from now if we wanted to?

I've played PC games since the earliest adventures of Sierra came out, where you actually had to type something in to complete an action.
This is one of the most ridiculous things I've encountered in all those years playing PC games, not being able to play a single player game because there's a problem with a server.

Would this be why I get the 'unable to load area' when I try to load into Return to Ostagar? Or is that another issue? I was able to get the starter quest just now, which I thought was also DLC content. I just can't load up Ostagar. I also noticed that Soldier's Peak isn't showing up on my world map at all. I am, however, still able to play.
