Heh...  I ordered the Witcher a few weekends ago from Steam during a sale... Steam ran out of license keys, so the game could not be played for four days.  Hmmm... deja vu....

I'm old-school and am putting my faith in Amazon  :)

(or just old as I have no experience with this newfangled Steam, other than seeing it mentioned on forums.  However talk to me about booting m/c's with paper tape, how to physically patch code on punched card input, or play Colossus Cave, and I'm your man girl).

It was my first and last purchase via Steam.  All my Dragon Age titles are on disc or from EA's download service.

Raen, Steam is actually very nice and it has excellent pricing on games quite often. You just had a really bad experience there, that's unfortunate. (I own a lot of games from Steam). I especially like the fact that it is also an easy venue for independent developers to provide their games to the audience.

I know I'm only throwing another log in the fire at this point, but I wanted to add my voice to the rest of those who are frustrated with the authentication issues.

While I'm sure the problem will be fixed "Soon"™, this highlights yet again the ridiculous nature of DRM--it hurts no one but the paying customer, while those who obtain the game and the DLC through less scrupulous methods continue to play without issue.  My wish for Bioware and other publishers/developers is that these incidents would be learned from, and that a business model which rewards customers for purchasing a product legally--rather than punishing them through inconvenience--would emerge.

Please, ditch this kind of DRM.

Funny thing... if I play the game while not logged into the servers, I don't get the "unauthorized" error and can access all my DLC content ingame.

Indeed, although sadly, it's not true for everyone.

Totally agree with him on that one. DAO and DA2 are my only escapes from being a single mom with crazy stress all day long.....*sigh*......but kinda glad I'm not the only one suffering (evil grin)

Thanks, yeah I thought it was really fitting... though if this was the blight... that archdemon would have some hell to pay from us Players.

Yep. Happens if you have authorized it previously and for some logging offline may work. Don't log back in until you are sure the issue is fixed however.

Do you guys remember being here, posting about DLC and server problems on Saturday and Sunday...and on Sunday evening you foolishly believed that it would be fixed very quickly on Monday when the techs came in to work? Ah, the good ole days when hope was a common commodity.

I think Andraste best described the state of the servers when she said:

Its gates forever shut.
Heaven has been filled with silence,
I knew then,
And cross'd my heart with shame.

I love Andraste. I am not religious, but fantasy fiction definitely needed more female Jesus.

Want to add my voice to this as well.... what i don't understand is, why authorization of each DLC is required. I know plenty of ppl who only use pirated DLC... so your method of securing it is totally pointless.

I would like call for the full AUTHORIZED dlc be made available on our secure account site. This will allow us to download them and back them up. Because if 5 years from now i feel nostaligic. I better be able to play the FULL game i paid for. Afterall, i can install my baldurs gate, or NWN cds at any point and re-enjoy them.

EA is destroying you bioware... and it makes kittens cry.

Friends, go to: http://www.joystiq.c...tified-failure/

And make a post about the matter, nothing complicated just stating you're also having the issue. That way you bump up the news article and it gets noticed faster.

Also, if you can submit this information to other gamer news sites that'd be great!

PS: Go "Link" Padme's videos as well on youtube! :)

I think I am done here. Tired of being ignored by EA. Tired of being ignored in this forum. To waste any more of my time in either company would be tragic. Fare thee well.

I think I'll just start a new DLC-free origins game and be a total ***** to everyone just to get an outlet for my frustration.

They really need to make it so once it has been authorized it becomes permanent. That way as many have mentioned it will still work "x" years from now, even if EA or Bioware is no longer around.
