Cave Johnson here.

Same old story, same issue: I installed/authorized the full DLC game last month, everything was ok until Friday 9. If you think that almost all friends of mine had cracked, played and finished the full DLC game something like three years ago, it's kinda funny that I've waited three years to BUY the Ultimate Edition PAYING for it 45 shining Euros... and I still CAN'T play it!

I can wait only few days for some fix. Then, well... Cave Jonhson here, pirates attacked us and from now on everithing will be ok.

Pirates, enjoying the game I paid for. Myself, dealing with an issue that Bioware could surely fix by placing a small team of programmers on for a couple hours. Irony at it's best no?

Sadly yes, the way they have handled this situation at the moment has made more people inclinded to play a pirated version of the game. Since you can't actually play the legal one at the moment. How I hate irony.

I myself am considering that outcome if this nonsense continues. They already have my money for goodness' sakes.

Too little info, too late. I thought it was something I'D done, so spent the weekend uninstalling/reinstalling the game, searching the forums for info on how to overcome the problem (which is difficult if you don''t know EXACTLY where to look), I finally got info from a gamers website). I'm disappionted about the lack of communication/action, and am starting to rethink my decision to buy DA2, if an 'Unidentified faliure' makes the game unplayable.

Just a quick word of warning. After some wobbly ISP problems that resulted in my losing some other DLC (I wondered why the once blood dragon armour wearing Alastair was dreaming of living with his sister wearing only his underpants and a big sword) and having to restart I realised I had played for the last 50 hours or so logged out. I thought I should log back and found this problem.

Don't log back in!!!!! Especially on logging in and finding you can't load a save don't log out, load a game and then log in from the main menu screen!

It was the wonderful experience of what happenes when a provider begins losing interest in an MMO that pushed me to buy this game as I laughably thought I wouldn't be at the mercy of a company that takes my money at point of sale but when it comes to fixing a mess takes it's own sweet time :o(

Gaming companies dont seem to rearlise that pirates are cleaver people, with tools that can crack anything used. This today is a prime example of why trying to tackle piracy is a bad idea from a software perspective; it does not work.
It takes someone to sit in there dark room a few hours to reverse engineer code and have an outcome of a cracked game. Origins is one of such, they have gone through the effort to implement servers to authenticate a SINGLE player game to stop pirates, has it ? Nope. - While we have paid for the game to support the developers, the pirates run free and enjoy the game.

Not only that i would have thought EA / Bioware (whoever holds the servers) would have a back up image, redeploy it if this problems unpatchable ?

Silly me. I assumed that after close to a week this problem would be solved. Here's to editing xml files and playing offline. Perhaps I should thank BW. With every action they are convincing me to save my money and not spend another dime on this series. Sad given the fact that this is my favorite game of all time.

Not being funny, but I bought the digital deluxe edition of this game at full price, the 360 version and more recently the ultimate edition for PC. Not to mention DA2 on 360 and both Mass Effect's for both PC and 360.

Now, the 360 purchases were mainly so my fiancee could play the games but the PC purchases were for me. I recently decided to finally sit down and play through DA seeing as I have the ultimate edition and currently can't play it properly because of this issue.

I would have thought that if the game is linked to my EA account that should be enough, why should it have to phone home everytime I want to play?? This is really frustrating as all I want to do is play the game I've paid for (3 times over) and enjoy it.

My DA:O won't load at all now. I may just give up and go back to EverQuest, and Assassin's Creed on the Xbox!

It doesn't help that the primary Answer for unauthorized DLC issues on the EA Support Website will get you into a position of being completely unable to play with DLC until this is resolved. Even for those folks who might have been able to play while logged out.

Glad to see Joystiq finally picked up the story.

Tic Tac Tic Tac... Well seams I'm not wasting money on DA2. And I thought that BACKUPS were a main and important solution. THAT and real info on what its going on.

Geee... We pay... we should know the truth.
But hell... It's an EA company... what do you expect.

This is pretty ridiculous. You've lost a lot of respect in my eyes, bioware.

On my old savegame I have all the DLC available, on a game I started this weekend I cannot do Soldier's Peak or the Shale quest. I certainly won't buy any DLC in the future.

So I am a brand new player... Just bought DA:Origins Ultimate for the first time yesterday.... I have been raging about the unauthorized DLC for hours now... Kinda glad to know its a server issue not an issue on my end. What I do not understand it what UE and all the DLC for that matter requires an online dragon age server to play. If I had this on xbox this would not be an issue; buy a dlc on xbox and its downloaded to your system for you to play whenever! Why would they require PC players to be linked to an online server like this was some sort of MMO?! It doesnt make any sense... Bring back the diablo days wherin one could buy a game, install it and subsequent expansions, and await PATCHING instead of server links.

That being said; there is little I can do about the situation now so does anyone know when the issue will resolve itself?

Has anyone else tried this?  Does it work or further break the game?

Hello D_Thoran, yes this is a "workaround" that has been discussed and discarted very shortly after this whole issue began. What that allows you to do is load your save file, but if you had any DLC, they won't load, work erratically, and furthermore if you happen to overide your Save File, it may cause problems after (and if) the servers are fixed.
