Last night I found myself staring at black screen, hands positioned to control my new HNF Rogue... I'm not quite sure how I got there...

On the upside I can now push through the Human Noble Origin in 23mins on Nightmare :D

What are the hopes of a progress report before I get home from work in approx 12hrs?

This will allow you to load your save file Forcing the game to "Authorize" the DLC. However the DLC won't be there (Items, locations, plot, etc).

*Edit* I suggest newcomers to this "Ordeal", read on the various threads a bit, before attempting anything. That "fix" is old information prior to this server issue. You may corrupt your Save File by using it to play.

Also take a look at http://social.biowar...8/index/6265850

for further information.

Has anyone else tried this?  Does it work or further break the game?

Hello D_Thoran, yes this is a "workaround" that has been discussed and discarted very shortly after this whole issue began. What that allows you to do is load your save file, but if you had any DLC, they won't load, work erratically, and furthermore if you happen to overide your Save File, it may cause problems after (and if) the servers are fixed.

Thanks.  Just wanted to make sure.

I've called EA twice today, and on the second try talked to someone they called a supervisor...
he repeatedly said he can't get in touch with the developers and kept saying they were working on it.
Well, if he can't talk to the developers, how does he know they're working on it? I told him he should kick this problem up to his supervisor, and then the department manager to the Vice President of EA or whoever, after all, EA does OWN Bioware, and SOMEBODY in EA can talk to SOMEBODY in Bioware and light a fire under them to get this issue resolved.

I'm really not sure how many times I'm willing to start the game from scratch just to see if I can get the content that I paid for with the ultimate edition to work. Sigh.

I simply don't believe this is a difficult issue to fix. I just. don't. believe it.

Don't they back up their servers? Just plug in the backup! Its not like the server is hosting fifty thousand people playing an MMO all at the same time. Its just returning a little bit of authentication code, once in a while, when someone logs in. That's probably lower server strain than most blogs.

And if the problem is the integration of the bioware social media stuff with the DRM authentication, when screw that stuff. Upload the old version. We'll do without automatic uploading of screen shots in the meantime. Better to go without that then to be unable to play.

This is pathetic now.

Errata Corrige: what RedundandCookie says it's true. More troubles after that "solution", bring back the Addins.xml file to the old values and wait for Bioware to fix this. :(

Just had another glorius chat with Customer Support.

The regular rant about not being able to play. And then comes the best part that imo shows CS have no idea when this is going to be solved.

Posted Image Fredrik Andersson: And there has been one official respond, ONE in the period of  FIVE days. It's below any kind of standard. Not a single update regarding a problem that should have been solved four days ago.
Posted Image EARepAustin: I do apologize for any inconvenience caused to you. However,  This a know issue and most  of our customer facing this now,
Posted Image EARepAustin: I can understand you've invested your time and money. But rest assured soon this should be fix and you should be able to access all the purchase content once again.
Posted Image Fredrik Andersson: Yet nothing happens, there is no official comunication at all, no updates regarding the progress of solving the issue. We (the customers) are sitting in the dark, while the very people this "brilliant" system is supposed to be against is enjoying their game.
Posted Image Fredrik Andersson: Well how can you assure me when that is the kind of respond everyone got when they contacted Customer Support on Saturday?
Posted Image Fredrik Andersson: soon is not = with 3 days.
Posted Image Fredrik Andersson: soon = a couple of hours
Posted Image EARepAustin: Actually I've just confirm with my senior regarding this.
Posted Image Fredrik Andersson: That is soon should be fixed ?
Posted Image EARepAustin: I would suggest you to wait for 24 to 72 more hr.
Posted Image Fredrik Andersson: Are you serious ?
Posted Image EARepAustin: Yes,
Posted Image Fredrik Andersson: ...
Posted Image EARepAustin: I can see you've been facing this issue from long time.
Posted Image Fredrik Andersson: How can you one sentence say that there soon should be a fix for the problem and the next say I should wait up to 3 more days?
Posted Image Fredrik Andersson: May I please know your definition of soon. I'm now quite curious.
Posted Image EARepAustin: I've just ask to our senior department regarding this issue.
Posted Image EARepAustin: Yes, I would suggest you to wait for 24 to 72 hr.
Posted Image Fredrik Andersson: Yes you said so a minute ago
Posted Image Fredrik Andersson: Then how can you say it should soon be fixed ?
Posted Image EARepAustin: or if you wish I can escalate your issue to our senior department for further assistance. you will be contacted through E-mail with some sort of solution to your problem.
Posted Image Fredrik Andersson: There is nothing I can do to fix the problem unless you want me to help your IT personal solving their server problem.
Posted Image EARepAustin: It's server problem.

Posted Image EARepAustin: I wish I could help you, However, this is a know issue and most of our customers are facing this.
Posted Image Fredrik Andersson: Yes... so why would you escalate the issue so the can email a solution to my problem, have the senior department email the solution to your IT personal instead
Posted Image EARepAustin: Yes, may be our senior department provide you some precise steps and exact time.
Posted Image Fredrik Andersson: But you have still not answered why you in one sentence say it will soon be fixed and the next say I should wait 24-72hours. Are the Customer Support making things up when they can't solve a problem to hope the customers should go away happily waiting?
Posted Image EARepAustin: I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. This is a know issue and engineers are working on, It can be fix within few hr or it will few few more so I would appreciate if you wait for 24 to 72 hr and see if this works.
Posted Image EARepAustin: However, you keep trying to access the dlc may be it will fix within few hr.

some more chat not needed to post here.

Posted Image EARepAustin: I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. I can understand your frustration however, I am escalating your issue to our senior department for further investigation and assistance with proper and priority note regarding this issue. Soon you will be contacted through E-mail with some sort of solution.
Posted Image Fredrik Andersson: Soon ;)
Posted Image EARepAustin: I will put a proper and priority note on your ticket  and your issue will be handled on priority basis.
Posted Image Fredrik Andersson: You mean 24-72 hours ?
Posted Image EARepAustin: Yes, as soon as possible.
Posted Image EARepAustin: Normally it takes 24 to 48 hr however, your issue will be handled on priority basis,.
Posted Image Fredrik Andersson: I want highest priority, since I have already waited a couple of days.
Posted Image EARepAustin: I will do that.
Posted Image Fredrik Andersson: Thank you

I just agreed because I want to know what they will say, since I already know they can't give me a solution to the problem.

Edit: Did some highlightning

TRISTAN: As being an gamer i can really understand your frustration but this is a temporary issue and our engineers are already aware of this. They are working to resolve this as soon as possible. I would advise you to please wait for some time and then try again to login and play the game online. If the issue persists, you can contact us again. We will be happy to assist you.
Highlor3: Give me an estimated time, so I can contact you after it.
TRISTAN: Unfortunately at the moment officially we don't have any information regarding the exact time but i hope this issue will fix with in 24 to 48 hrs
Highlor3: Ok, I will wait then. I've been waiting for 96 hrs.

The only image that comes to my mind are the EA's engineers eating donuts while playing The Old Republic Beta, using the DRM server for this.

Don't waste your time. This issue is server side, and a major flaw within the DRM system EA uses. Hopefully once they fix this, they should (at least we hope) also amend it, to avoid this situation in the future.

To be honest I'm already a bit tired of posting. So I think I should take a little break (or not, depends if my OCD kicks back in) In any case - For any newcomer who just arrived and checked only this last page. Please read the whole thread, and also go to: http://social.biowar...8/index/6265850

Right now there are no solutions, and no official word. The 1 to 0 "fix", will only allow you to load up your game, but not to use the DLC. Only those who got authorized at least once and have remained OFFLINE afterwards can play (but don't login or else you'll be in the same boat).

Let's hope they come up with a solution soon. Until then, I suggest you do something else, and check everynow and then for updates.

Hahahahahahahahahahah.
Still waiting for Ancient elven boots in Lothering to be patched into PC game.
That issue is from release, and had a third party "fix" asap, yet no official patch.
DA still has many bugs that cause crashes as well for years, no "official" response or patch.

Servers down, minor inconvenience we'll fix it in another three years...
Mean time, DA:O Dog armour DLC now available for ££.

Currently stuck in the fade with my human rogue after the Sloth Demon threw me in there! I think this is the only part of the game that I really hate doing. Such a time consumer and a pain in the butt! It's still a bit strange to play without my DLC. My poor other characters in my different saves must be freezing by now!

I know this comment comes from 8 hours ago, but let me just say I haaaaaaaaaaated doing The Fade as a rogue. Rogues are more of an assist than one to go all out against the forces of evil, especially when you get hit by a hoard. I did much better with my warrior the first time through. Haven't done it as a mage yet, but that's because I suck at magic...

Some people have reported issues with items disappearing from in-game if the de-authorization has already occured.  I just posted another possible solution if you are running Windows 7 here.

The length of this delay tells us some interesting things about the problem.

First off if you check your account profile on this website you can see what content you have registered. This tells us that they have a database that correctly lists teh content that all of the users bought. Furthermore this tells us that there is at least one server online reporting the content to web clients.

Secondly we know that there was not a patch to the computer copy over the weekend. This means that the program that writes the Profile.dap file has not changed. It worked before, so given the correct information it should work now. For those that don't know this is the file that stores the authorization to decrypt and load the DLC content.

Thirdly we know that we can log in to the servers via the game.

This points to the fact that the communication between their servers that checks authorization, and the game is broken. Now that may seem obvious, but the important part is that they still have the database, which we can verify as working, in fact all of the separate pieces work. Which means something fell apart that bridged them all together.

Now this is concerning to me. If this was a bug in their program, then restarting the server/program should have restored it to working order while they tried to identify the bug. If this was a hardware problem, then bringing online a backup system should have restored it to working order. Since it has been more than a business day this leads me to believe that the either the software corrupted itself, and they have no backup or the program or its previous states of data, or that they have no backup hardware. Either way for such a critical system for end users I find that disturbing, as well as foreboding for their upcoming MMO.
