Bah! I'll not be purchasing another DA:O DLC over this. (even tho I know Sussurus was joking). Gee.... 6 days (I doubt now that it will be fixed today) and counting. The only excuse I will accept is that something fried the servers and the reall problem is getting replacemet servers. Since this is highly unlikely....

Not that I don't want others to see the vids but means my dad watched them o.0

Dad's aren't all that bad ;-)

He isn't bad, just for some reason I find it more embarrassing having him see/hear me act or sing...

Of all the times to start playing this again, it had to be today. It's been over a year since I stopped playing, and after reading about DA2, I suddenly had the urge to play DA:O again. I come home from a long days work to discover that I can't boot my saves. What's worse is the 2+ hours I've been reading up on the problem and troubleshooting before coming across this thread.

I'm not upset with anyone on the tech side. I work in a similar field, crowd controlling when things go wrong with servers, so I can understand that sometimes problems occur and troubleshooting takes time..sometimes lots of time. I'm more in a position of disappointment with my terrible luck.

my guess is that servers went haywire and they've lost the source code

I know this comment comes from 8 hours ago, but let me just say I haaaaaaaaaaated doing The Fade as a rogue. Rogues are more of an assist than one to go all out against the forces of evil, especially when you get hit by a hoard. I did much better with my warrior the first time through. Haven't done it as a mage yet, but that's because I suck at magic...

Really?  In my opinion, dual wield rogues is the second most solo friendly class in the game after mages. :3  And in the fade you can use the nifty shapeshifting ability.  I'd recommend getting burning man as soon as you can, and use it to grab the golem shape.  After that, large numbers of enemies are easily AoEd with Quake and / or Fireball.

Is it not fixed yet? I'm so pissed by this. Why do these companies want the consumers to suffer.

It has been mentioned hundreds of times in these threads (I know, I've read every post). However I'll say it again. It is unacceptable for a company as big as Electronic Arts to blatantly disregard the time of its consumers for the sake of a flawed system to prevent illegal use of their product. When the cold slapping irony is that those being negatively affected by this system are the paying customers, whereas there is no doubt that those who steal through piracy can in fact enjoy the game.

I want to make the nearly 1,000th post in this Thread alone (Which has only been up since yesterday, considering the problem started over 96 hours ago - Friday), for Bioware and by extension Electronic Arts to please address this situation, regardless the time it will take. A Responsible PR attitude towards your paying consumers is to at the very least respect them by avoiding condescension through omission or disregard.

Thank you.

Yes I feel the same.. add in all the Cunning boosts and the talent "lethality".
Mix in a bow to draw the hordes one or two at a time, then for the demons go spirit and use the crushing prison spell.

Just wondering for fun I've been thinking of the perfect adjective for this "issue"...
An Ostagar.
Or Broodmother are my favourites.

Right? I can only say how thrilled I am I bought this game on a lark before SWTOR dropped. Saved me some money. Only Bioware game I've played since Jade Empire and no EA since like the Sega Genesis.....

Guess it's time to look into FF14 as a post EZ-WOW alternative instead of SW.

Nuuu, don't do it. :C FFXIV is an abomination, I know from experience.

That might also be because I usually play as a warrior with a shield (in all my games) and this time I had no idea how to avoid damage. My warriors always delt with it. I'd probably do better now with a rogue since I've played the game to the end (mostly ending up saving Alistair/Sten's ass when they got in trouble). I managed to get through the fade by using stealth and bating people to leave the room they were in, away from their frends, so I could fight them one on one. It was time consuming, but it got me thorugh it.

Hello everyone,

Quite a lot of people blame EA herefore, and just as many blame Bioware.
Now, I'd like to know, who actually does provide the servers?
As mentioned before, Bioware's database seems to be up and working correctly, as I can see all my content right on this site. On the other hand, it's an EA game account I'm logging into within the game....

I just shouldn't have reinstalled Windows this week xD

As do I.

Edit: Know from experience that is, nothing like other final fantasy games, in fact is a joke in comparison.

The last time I followed a suggestion from ea I went from 1 dlc to all of them listed as de authorized. I do think this shows once again that DRM is only good for being a pain to paying customers.

Bioware and EA are the same company-- Bioware merged with Pandemic some time back, and the holding company that held them was aquired by EA.  So what's the difference?

C'mon people. We are smarter than the apparent hacks at both Bioware and EA. In looking through the .xml files where the authentication information is stored, I came across this line in the dragonage.xml file : NucleusOnlineLoginAuthenticationToken (after which was a very long string of random letters and symbols) There were also several lines that seemed to relate to online function and authorization.

Someone here can back up their stuff and fool around with this? Or perhaps someone who is sucessfully offline with all working dlc could post copies of their manifest, dragonage, and related files? Perhaps they have a valid authentication string within those files?

5-6 days is enough, let's see if we can do their job FOR them...

(I am not in any way advocating piracy here of any kind, and I think that is obvious)

Initially I thought that EA ran both the support and the servers, but after several conversations it has come to light that while EA does provide the tech support, the servers are run by Bioware.

EA tech support probably provides support for all EA games (and there are a lot). They are most definitely at a location far removed from Bioware or any game development. And they don't read the forums. I was incredulous that they still had no idea about the server outage on Sunday night when I asked them about that.

The Tier 1 folks you get when you contact them are essentially just a verbal/live chat interface to the information already available on the web at the EA support site.
