To be fair, the folks working on the Dragon Age II patch and those responsible for getting the Auth server back in working order are most likely completely different. One would be a developer task and the other an IT issue.

Hi there !

I'm coming from the French BSN, and we have the same problems. I hoped that you would have more information about it, but it seems not...

For us: no official communication or support o/

Unfortunately other than the forced OP in this thread, the support you see comes from the Community. Read on the thread a little to see the 'progession'.

Et bienvenue mon ami!

I suppose you're right but still doesn't excuse the fact it took them till Monday to even make an official comment about the problem.

Oh wait guys! We need to stop complaining, if we keep this up they'll HAVE to fix the issue, meaning cutting funds to Dragon Age III! Can you imagine them creating another shotty, half-hearted game?!

Based on the brief messages I've exchanged with some folks, this is most likely correct.  From what I can infer, most of the Bioware staff who comment from time-to-time online are engaged with DA2 in some form or another.  It seems this server issue caught them more by surprise than some of us...

Hi everyone. I have a question about this problem. A buddy of mine, through my recommendation, bought DA:O Ultimate Edition. He did initially authorize the DLC and it all showed ok in game. He has been playing it for the past week or so logged out with I think most of his DLC saying unauthorized. When this issue is resolved, will all the DLC just show up again or are his saves corrupted now that he played with the DLC unauthorized? I want to call him and warn him not to play too much if that is the case.

Thanks.

Once the server is back online, the saves should be fine. Make sure he doesn't delete any, just in case he needs to go back.

If he has been playing logged out since before the sever issue, he should be fine... in fact that's the way I recommend all people play the game from here on out.

If anyone has a backup of their entire settings folder from their documents folder, from a time when all dlc was authorized, I believe replacing it with the backup will fix the problem.  I believe the key to the authorization of dlc lies within those files, or else people would not be able to play offline and still have working dlc.  It is only after logging in to the haosed servers and revalidating (or attempting to) that things get hosed.  If someone has a working retail version, and has all dlc, if they made a copy of their settings folder and made it available I believe it would fix the problem.

Logic says the key to the authorization must lie inside one of those setting files that gets changed when you go online.

I bet if we all believe hard enough, the server will come back online.

Like KoToR 2? Or DA 2? Or a lot of sequels once investors realise the chance for big bucks and therefore push release dates so "WE GET MONEY!!!" and ignore the fact that it's not just the label name that gets the coins rolling?

There's always the hope that the 3rd iteration will be the sum of the best parts of the first two. We live on hope.

Initially I thought that EA ran both the support and the servers, but after several conversations it has come to light that while EA does provide the tech support, the servers are run by Bioware.

EA tech support probably provides support for all EA games (and there are a lot). They are most definitely at a location far removed from Bioware or any game development. And they don't read the forums. I was incredulous that they still had no idea about the server outage on Sunday night when I asked them about that.

The Tier 1 folks you get when you contact them are essentially just a verbal/live chat interface to the information already available on the web at the EA support site.

I'm actually starting to think that Livechat support are nothing more then a bot or maybe Monkeys, I've worked CS and these guys seem pretty clueless

well i have contact them 2 times, and read lot of conversation posted on the forum,  and i have to say they all say the exact same things word for word, and always when you find similar keywords in the question. Plus they keep repeating themself.
They act exactly as the same way as A.L.I.C.E. Chat bot using AIML,  they have just be configurated differently and  data fit for DAO support.
here is a link for ALICE chat bot  :  http://alice.pandorabots.com/
You can see similar things here : http://www.personali...e.com/login.php
and if you search Google on AIML  you can even find software that you can download for telephonic support and Web Chat support using the AIML.

the is no way a human will talk to you the way DAO customer support,  for me it is clear that they use bot, and when they get lost they transfert you to senior that are human.
Or maybe they are just Tranquil Mages... who know...

Sadly, most Marvel films tend to completely destroy this concept.<_<

"When a game sales very well like Dragon Age II did — with over 2 million copies sold — another installment is almost guaranteed to be in the works. The latest issue of PlayStation: The Official Magazine UK says a sequel is already in production and will feature multiplayer."

From http://playstationli...-in-production/

Dare accepted and fufilled =P Haha.

Would it be pointless to say I wish I could play the game I bought yesterday night? @_@

UPDATE:

We're continuing to investigate, both here and at EA. We have some theories about what is occurring but no firm fix at this time. We apologize for the inconvenience and request your patience while our engineers continue working towards a solution.

Thank you.

It is time to begin the systematic piracy of all games that are EA. I've never done that before, but screw 'em.

Oh my god, they ARE tranquil!

It appears that rampaging darkspawn have destroyed our servers...
There is no cause for emotion.

Well, I guess this is what I asked for.

Nothing else for me to say for a while, other than leave frustrated and return to check within a week. Thanks for the update Rob.

*Edit* It does feel so anticlimatic. And yet quite scary that that post is the second official post we have, "We have theories but no firm fix". I am speechless.

Take care guys.

I have a suggestion for a long term solution: a 1.05 patch that solves some lingering problems and removes the drm.

I'm going to remove "Rob" from the list of potential names for my first born child now. Along with EA and BioWare.
