Sigh....somehow I knew I'd logon tonight and it still wouldn't be fixed. That's how much faith I have in Bioware at this point. Think I may go back to that old copy of Oblivion as well....

It really makes no sense to me why the usual problem even exists (it's more understandable with the server down, though crazy that the sever is STILL down). It tells me to be sure I am logged into the account that is authorized to use the content... I am logged into the account that is authorized to use the content. I just... I don't see where the complication in that should be. Why have they still not fixed that issue in the years since release? It's hard to believe they're really that uncaring about their customers, but there it is.

Honestly, what the eff is the point of having to authenticate EVERY TIME you play, anyway? FYI, EA, pirated versions of your games don't check for the DRM... idiots.

Why the ultimate edition still requires you be connected.

It does NOT.  However, if you opt to always be connected (to upload your player profile online), it will CONSTANTLY check to make sure your DLC is valid... causing the occasion error, or in this case, a massive one.

See:  http://social.biowar...8/index/7005639

Well, if the game was bought on or after Friday, you do need an internet connection to authorise that DLC content the first time.  This is why people like me who have received the game after Friday are pissed off.  I am being told I am "not authorised" to play content I damn well paid for.  I can see DLC quest locations on the map and when I try to do one of them, it just gives a server error message and will not let you start or add the quest to your journal.

You're lucky if you can even play the game at all, honestly.

Something about "making sure the people doing the right thing continue doing the right thing" I think is how Ubisoft said it.

They honestly believe that the number of people that would buy one copy of their game then share it amoungst their friends is greater then the number who would dsay "DRM? Balls to you!"

There is no cause for emotion.

So, just to be clear, I'm wondering if what's happening with my game is consistent with this issue.

This here is a shot of the "Your registered game content" taken minutes ago.

This one is from in-game.

Some of the stuff that the website says is authorized is, and some is not. Doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it though.  Very confusing.

Logged out.

I've been back on Federen roads for two hours now, wearing all my authorizations, fully equipped and with a big, bloody grin on my face.

Only I'll never be sure what awaits me tomorrow in that upper fade they call the cloud.

May their demonic servers be condemned to a dull, sloth fate.

(back to original addins.xml - everything is authorized and apparently accessible for now - items are back, only the Dragonbone Cleaver is mysteriously missing from my previous saves, don't remember if it was there in the first place, even if I completed the Witch Hunt)

UPDATE:

We're continuing to investigate, both here and at EA. We have some theories about what is occurring but no firm fix at this time. We apologize for the inconvenience and request your patience while our engineers continue working towards a solution.

Thank you.

Just gotta say, y'all have really crapped your pants on this one.  Someone needs to lose their job on this one.

This game is a year and a half old, the newest DLC is 6 months old.  Anyone who was going to pirate it has done so already.

Patch out your DRM!

The one thing this and other threads makes very apparent, the PC customer base is still a very significant demographic for Dragon Age and other Bioware games. Compare the number of posts in the PC Technical Support forum to any of the others (360, PS3, Mac).

Sure, it's likely that fewer Xbox, PS3, and Mac users have run into this issue, but I still think it's significant.

It's special training. They don't believe we're real. We're just the occasional nightmare.

Over the April 9, 2011 weekend, some of our Dragon Age: Origins content servers experienced an as yet unidentified failure. As a result, users began to experience error messages when attempting to access their downloadable content, indicating that the DLC was unauthorized.

We apologize for the inconvenience and are currently investigating and working to resolve the issue on our end. We will update this thread once we know more.

Seriously? 5 days and you people can't find the problem in your authentication system?

That's pathetic.  "Engineers" my foot.

Maybe you could, oh I don't know, put the customer first and ok all authentication requests until you get it sorted out?

Is using the "all seeing eye of God" as an avatar supposed to tell us that you are reading these forums and know what we are saying, or is it just ironic in that you are doing the total OPPOSITE?

I hate DRM, why punish paying customers? If anything it encourages me to get a cracked copy..
I bought both DA-O and DA-A and still cant play 'single player' because I need online auth?

Dont wait for my $59.00 for DA2.. I'll just get the 'extended' demo version.

I wish we had someone like Luke Barret on the Dragon Age: Origins forums. At least we'd feel like someone is looking out for us.

If this isn't fixed by this time tomorrow, I'll seriously start clamoring for a refund....
I love the game, but what good is a game you can't play?

Thank goodness. I've been trying for two days to fix the dreaded "Unauthorized Content" error, all the while thinking it was on my end. Now we just have to hope that they can fix it.
