because people who just purchased ultimate edition this weekend dont get that option because their DLC was never authorized to have the offline as an option to play DLC. thats why they probably try not to state it.

We are tranquil.

You are all not authorized to play the DLC.

Your emotions regarding this issue are a curse.

This is a true story... [From George_Gordon's experience previously] - I tampered a little bit with it, but roughly here is how it went:

Featuring, Owain, Tranquil Quartermaster at the Circle Tower (Who for some reason found himself as a Customer Service Rep that day).

Owain The Tranquil: Hi, my name is Owain The Tranquil. How
may I help you?

2250803479: Seriously, your name is Owain The Tranquil?

2250803479: Sorry, that was just a little surprising

2250803479: So what's the deal with the DAO authentication
servers? Any news?

Owain The Tranquil: hi

Owain The Tranquil: May I please place you on hold while I
check this for you?

2250803479: Sure

Owain The Tranquil: thanks

Owain The Tranquil: I would like to inform you that it's a
known issue and is being worked upon. Please stay put and it'll be fixed soon.

Owain The Tranquil: It's not an existing bug but a known
issue that just popped up. It's temporary and will be fixed in next 24 - 48
hours.

2250803479: This issue started on Friday. And they were
telling people 24-48 hours on Friday.

Owain The Tranquil: We are sorry for the inconvenience, we
are still working to resolve it, it should get resolve in next 48 hrs.

2250803479: So why didn't you just have your name on here
say Owie?

Owain The Tranquil: Its Owain The Tranquil

2250803479: But... Wouldn't most people named Owain The
Tranquil just go by Owie, for the sake of ease?

Owain The Tranquil: Yes, it's true, you can say Owie

2250803479: Well anyway... The general gist of things is you
don't really have any idea when it will be fixed, then?

2250803479: Wait, do I need to send that as an "off the
record" message to get a real answer? is that the trick here?

Owain The Tranquil: It should get resolved in next48hrs

2250803479: Man. Eddie Murphy and Nick Nolte can save San
Franciso from criminals in 48 hours, but it takes you guys that long to fix a
server?

2250803479: I'm forced to assume something must have
exploded.

Owain The Tranquil: I really appreciate your time and
cooperation

2250803479: Right. Well, thanks Owie. Looks like neither of
us is getting anything else out of this. Have a good one.

Owain The Tranquil: Is there anything further I may assist
you with today?

2250803479: Doesn't look like it. Thanks.

Owain The Tranquil: Thank you for your participation in the
EA Games Chat Support

Have a wonderful day.

Owain The Tranquil: bye

Owain The Tranquil: take care
*Snip*

There you have it, they are!

I'm wondering if they are doing overtime work on this. I strongly lean on the "NO" side though. a critical error unfixed for what, 5 days and no root cause identification (aside from that DRM is complete and epic failure), and no timeline. omg

Of course not.  My guess is they are deciding whether to abandon the title altogether.

Oh... that's already happened, from a developer standpoint.  The Witch Hunt DLC was rushed out to provide a ham-handed "ending" to the Warden's story.  It didn't even originally save a final post-game file... how's that for abandoned?

Rob is the first representitive to post in the DAO PC Tech Forum since i started posting here in the fall.  And look what it took to get him here.

a question when playing vanilla version. If I unlocked achievements while DA servers are still offline, do they get updated automatically to my online profile once I get connected (like in starcraft 2), or do I get to repeat the actions for the lulz?

Sod. though they're still milking the franchise. they should have given this to GOG so we can buy UE w/o the DRM.

We should all take a little bit of time and post reviews on Amazon/Bestbuy/Gamestop warning people against the DRM. Possibly even posting reviews on other EA games that have a similar DRM (such as DA 2). Can someone post a list of EA DRM games?

Probably, yes.  These are flagged in the profile.dap file, I think.

A translation of time estimates for software, provided by a software engineer.

The developer says 2 weeks: They want to work on it and will fix it ASAP

There developer says  1 year: They don't want to do it, and they are politely trying to convince you to not ask

The developer says 24-48 hours: They have no idea what is going on, but are stuck fixing it anyways.

It does suck that BioWare dropped DAO so quickly, I wanted an Alistair and Zevran "prequel" story like the annoying-red-head-with-the-worst-French-accent-ever received.

I was so looking forward to Witch Hunt, the information about it made it sound so good.   When I bought it, it was one of thie biggest disappointments ever.  Once again it was a bunch of re-used assets from the original game and was pathetically short.  I saw no point to it at all!  It just left me with more questions than answers.  Kind of like DA2.  I am sure there is a greater vision at work somewhere, and it will all make sense one day, I hope.

I hope my 360 version did a post game save, that's what I used to play DA2, which included all the other DLC and Awakening.

It's 4 AM, and I couldn't sleep so I decided to see if the problem had been resolved. I guess not. :c

To be honest, I think BioWare should be paying -ME- for checking up on the status so often, because I seem to care more about it than the people actually getting paid for doing so. <3

How ironic is it that my free PC copy of Mass Effect 2's DLC is working fine, yet the game I paid for, I cant use?

It took NASA engineers less time to figure out how to get the Apollo 13 mission back safely from the moon using 1970 technology than it is taking Bioware engineers to figure out how to find the reset button on a login server.

Problem is - the monkey they use to push the button daily has either:

a) run out of bananas and is on strike until fed.

B) broken its finger so can't push the button.

c) is too busy scratching its ass and picking fleas to check.

d) is dead and no-one cares.

Vote for your choice!!

Hey Raen, I've seen this question asked in a coupla threads, but not sure I've seen it answered. Assume I was to start a new game (DLC disabled) and play that game until they address the issue. Once the DLC reauthorizes and I enable it, thatr file, in theory, should be fine, right? Not to minimize the ridiculousness of this situation, but it may give the more recent purchaser (myself, included) something to do in the meantime.

Well, if I had known that the DLC checks in every damn time I want to play a single player game, I probably wouldn't have bought DA:O.  Glad I didn't get DA2 yet, it's now off my list of games to get.  I'll get ME3 to finish the story, then no more Bioware games until my rage over this subsides.

From what I've heard the DA2 DLC authentication systems are much more forgiving than DAO's is..

96 hours and still no resolution.... <sigh>

I was planning to buy the Mass Effect series + DA2 once finishing all the DLC for DA:O, but given the fact that I now know that Bioware's server support is crap, I think I'll spend my money elsewhere.

I hear Black Ops is fun...

Wow.  I cannot believe this issue STILL hasn't been resolved.  I've been unable to continue my game since early Firday morning.   When the error first occured, I thought it was on my end and followed the troubleshooting advice of unintsalling/reinstalling - stupid me - I only made it worse. :pinched:

I was able to download all of my DLC from the entitlements page, which were no longer unathourized after logging off the server, but haven't been able to get The Stone Prisoner (can't have a game without my Shale!) or the promo items so my saves are useless. :crying:

I understand that glitches happen, but this has gone on long enough.  It has also changed my mind about purchasing DLC in the future.  Never again.

Fix it already!
