Perhaps for now.  The battle for Helm's Deep is over.  The battle for Middle Earth has begun!

Oops... wrong wizard.  Oh well....

*Laughs* Indeed, they still need to actually amend the DRM mechanics.

Interestingly enough my DLC is still unauthorized, surely needs to be refreshed... But the Bioware points loaded. So I'll see ...

Funny that as soon as news sites start reporting on it it gets fixed pretty quickly afterwards ey?

As I've mentioned in another post, I've worked in the news media in one capacity or another for about 15 years.  So I am not surprised....

That said, I think what we've experienced here was a sort of "perfect storm" of EA/Bioware screw-ups.  A questionable DRM policy (or ignorance), a significant problem that developed over a weekend, and developers/forum managers seperated from both tech support and server control by daunting wall of internal corporate BS.  So it may be somewhat coincidence that Bioware/EA finally got their techincial fly zipped up just as the outside world was starting to point and laugh.

A healthy reboot of your computer and relaunch of the game may encourage communication.

My sincere apologies on the delay, and I'll post more details later on tonight - we're still tying up a few other loose ends from the fix.

You'll have to excuse us if we're underwhelmed

I had to laugh at that part Posted Image

BTW like the others i'd like to personally thank you (and anyone else here)  for all the tech/emotional assistance over the last few days.

Definately made it more barable having these forums as a support group.

This brought more of a smile to my face than the announcement that the server is fixed. Now I get to go and make sure I have finished hacking all of the pieces of authorization that the installer seems incapable of successfully integrating and then give this another try...

*Nervous chuckle* Still not - But at least now I know it is something I can troubleshoot. *Heads over to the Ultimate Edition thread*

By tying up loose ends, I do hope they mean "removing our horrible DRM."

They are fixed, you could be experiencing what I am. Which is not having the Update service installed (Could have happened for me when I installed the Steam UE. Let me see if I can fix it and I'll let you know)

It is for me. The game did come up with "Please Try Again" when I got to the main menu, even though my email and password were saved. I re-entered the password and boom, there's everything back to normal. Phew.

*IMPORTANT READ* Kdarnell and others. Some versions, I believe the UE from Steam may not install the DAUpdater service right away, this won't let the game connect to the DRM "checker". Follow the following steps and everything should be all right:

Jason Leong wrote...

We have a preview application that contains a number of the DA Updater fixes for the upcoming PC Patch.<br />
You can try it out and see if it helps solve your problems in the meanwhile.<br />
If you do, please let me know if it helps.<br />
http://supportfiles....tic_beta.exe<br />
<br />
<br />
Also, you'll want to confirm your service starts when you boot the game. A few users have reported they need to manually start their service for some reason.<br />
1. In Windows, Press start<br />
2. Run "services.msc"<br />
3. Find and start "Dragon Age: Origins - Content Updater"<br />
4. Restart game<br />

And with THAT said, I think it's safe to say I deserve at least 1 hour of FINALLY being able to play before heading to bed. I love you all! Happy gaming and I'll keep showing up to help in whatever I can.

OK, so all of my old DLC is good, but the DLC that just finished downloading is now unauthorized. WTF? It took forever to acually download. Is the server just too overloaded to authenticate?

Seriously? SERIOUSLY?

I know stuff can happen and I'm glad it's finally over, but the way this was handled was more then poor.

1) Where was the official information on this?
It took 3 ! days before there was an official post about this.

2) Support was out of the loop the whole time. All it seems anyone got was a stock "We know about it and expect it to be fixed in 24-48 hours" and you got this every single time you contacted support, wether it was saturday, sunday, monday or tuesday. Each and every time the same answer.

3) No Information  if this is likely to happen again and if there will be measures taken to prevent this kind of FUBAR in the future.

4) Those that were persistent in contacting support were offered coupons to placate them, those that didn't use EAs resources just got the finger. To add insult to injury, a lot of the support staff were only able to state this offer, but were unable (inept?) to actually give out the codes without additional prompting.

This should be a PR disaster, but it seems noone will really care. It's not as if one has a choice to buy Dragon Age from another company.
It's hard to care for a company that makes it harder on their paying customers then on pirates.
