While I'm certainly happy a solution has been found.... I'm a little confused by the explanation. It says that it wasn't until Sunday that you became aware that this was something new... something for which there wasnt already a fix posted. However, on Friday I (and many other people) were told by tech support that this was a known server problem and that engineers were working on it... they even went so far to issue credits to future purchases. So who told tech support that this was a server issue on Friday?

well, they now try to save the face and it is normal that they do.
For this very moment, i am just happy that everything work again.

EDIT :
Just open the game and...  i was scared,  on the Downladable content section the page "Available Content" was still empty  ...  :(   i was like nooooooo  another problem for me :(
It took me a few second before i realise it is because they are all in the "Downloading Progress" table...  what a relief...  lol

While perfectly understandable--believe me, I'm glad it's fixed too--that is why companies like BioWarEA get away with poor customer service thinly veiled after the fact with obvious lies like "We didn't know there was a problem, HONEST guys!"

If we don't care and all is forgiven after the fact just because at the end of five days of misinformation and being ignored we can finally play again ... there's no incentive for anything to change in the future. And the next time the game goes down, it'll be down five or more days because we were all placated with a much delayed 'fix' that probably isn't a fix so much as a poorly applied bandaid.

I can promise I will not be buying EA products in the future. When Blizzard is better customer service, it's pretty sad. Because oh how I love ragging on Blizzard's customer service. But at least they HAVE some. Patchy as it might be.

Why companies like to punish actual customers I have no idea. The pirated copies of DA:O and all the DLC will never lock you out of content, I promise you that.

Either realize DRM is pointless and stop using it or at least patch it out after a certain number of months. This kind of stupid BS helps no one and hurts both Bioware and the customer.

I've gotten all my DLC authorized, backed up my authorization files and now I am off to bed. Tomorrow it's back to Ferelden!

Yay, my PC version of Ultimate is finally complete! Thank you for the explanation. I knew it had to be EA's fault ;) I still love you BioWare, although I am very very new devotee, I see it lasting for a long time. Now that DA2 is out, my most anticipated game this year is ME3 (and Uncharted 3 and Torico if it makes it out) but I think that even Uncharted 3 will pale in comparison to the experience I had with DA2.

*sigh* I was really hoping I'd be one of the lucky ones, alas I am not. All of my DLC are still unauthorized. The daupdater service is running. I've logged in and out several times, rebooted, et cetera. Still no go for me. (I have the Steam version of the Ultimate Edition).

Well, if the game was bought on or after Friday, you do need an internet connection to authorise that DLC content the first time.  This is why people like me who have received the game after Friday are pissed off.  I am being told I am "not authorised" to play content I damn well paid for.  I can see DLC quest locations on the map and when I try to do one of them, it just gives a server error message and will not let you start or add the quest to your journal.

You're lucky if you can even play the game at all, honestly.

Not true. I have Ultimate and have owned the game for several months. I am getting the authentication errors as well. For the older users, it has to do with the autologin feature and whether or not you changed the default setting to stop you from automatically logging into their servers every time you load the game.

Side Note: I was really looking forward to ME3 AND swtor. I even considered buying DA2. BiowarEA, you lost a LOT of credibility after warhammer and now THIS?! I will NOT be buying your games in the future. Both Blizzard and NCSOFT would never allow something like this to happen. Six days of downtime is absolutely unheard of and unacceptable for an MMO, much less a single player game. Maybe you guys should start taking notes. OR keep losing paying customers and go bankrupt. GG

How is this "not true" exactly?  What I said is that if anyone was able to play the game in any sort of form, they were lucky.  As many of us (myself included) were not able to.  I have Ultimate Edition too.

I'm sorry, I'm just really confused by this post.

I still had to log in every session. I have the Impulse UE version, and found a fix for that on the Impulse forums. Yeah, you have to edit the registry. Basically, the install puts your CD key under "Dragon Age Ultimate Edition" instead of just "Dragon Age", so you have to copy it. If other people who bought downloadable UE from other sources also have the log-in problem, this fix may work for you since it deals with Electonic Arts reg keys and not Impulse.

When Ubisoft had this with Assassin's Creed, as an apology, they gave away some of their games to the disgruntled customers...

So please send me a DA: Origins code so I can give it away to some budies in my WoW guild. Thx. (not requesting anything for me, since I already have all of the Bioware games).

I spoke too soon... my DLC still does *NOT* work. Even though it all comes up as being authorized in-game, none of it actually appears. I checked Bodahn's inventory, there are no feastday gifts or pranks. I can't access Warden's Keep, even though Levi appears in camp. Just what the hell is going on? Why is this still not working for me?

I want to point out that Sunday might have gotten their attention, but only tried to verify the error on Monday. IMO this should be verified ASAP since the spike. Not to mention that the servers are elsewhere in EA? So no Network engineers or experts were available to check? In that site? No one maintaining/monitoring the servers?

EDIT:
Even with above happening, I want to thank Bioware/EA for fixing this error. At least they did their best.

Because you are a filthy pirate and must be stopped, obviously.  :\\

I'm still so frustrated with this.  *sigh*

Yes, that's for the Impulse version, but Steam might have the same issue.

Have you change anything this W-E in an attemp to make the game work?  if so, try to revert those change.

This is possible, however from what people have said, they were told upon calling customer service that they were AWARE there was a problem and engineers were working on it. So either they were lying then, or they're lying now. Either way, it's not a good practice.

Besides the fact that I find the excuse "We thought it was the same old problem" elicits no forgiveness from me ... what it should read is "We thought it was the same old problem that we also haven't bothered to fix."

My CD key is in the registry already, so I guess that's not the problem either.

Edit: Yet another oddity. It seems the Steam version of the game uses 2 CD keys. One for the game, one for the DLC. My registry had the game CD key. So just for the heck of it, I changed it to the DLC CD key. For whatever reason, this has finally fixed my DLC. I just started a new game with Witch Hunt, and it seems fine thus far. No idea why this worked, but it might be worth noting if anyone else has problems with the Steam "Ultimate Edition" version of the game. Try swapping your CD keys in the registry.

Just got back from work, DLC still a no-go while logged in. I'm one of the lucky few who's already registered the DLC and can play offline, but I still can't install the patch because it tells me to register, and then when I enter my code it tells me to reinstall. I'll continue to play offline, but this is far from a fix for Ferelden (how was that for alliteration?). Fix it for everyone, get a patch that makes this not happen, and let us play the game.

I think you need to register game in this social network. I can only see ME2 registered to your account?

Left Hand meet Right Hand, now talk to each other please!

After 5 days of back and fore (and already explaining to 4 other staff the steps taken to confirm where the problem lay) , being told I'm a total idiot 'use the right account to login' is fairly insulting, when the studio had already confirmed that it was a new issue.

Sorry Bioware, but that has really annoyed me! (And I know that EA is total out of anyones control)!

It worked before I registerd it. It's worked for months. Now that I've bothered to register it, it still doesn't work. If registering the game was a problem, then I wouldn't be able to play the main storyline. It's the DLC that's acting up. So it's not that. It's server-side over at EA.

Have a look at the steps in this thread http://social.biowar...58/index/759141

There are serveral things that it could be, all detaled in that thread, CD Keys no longer in the registry, DAUpdaterService not starting properly, firewall exceptions missing, to simply using the wrong account details (I doubt its this), also check your Profile : Your registered game content just to check, as well as some remaining issue with the server.
