I do appreciate the fix, although blaming it on the "oh we thought it was the same old problem with our game that has existed since release" was not helpful. The real question is, why have you allowed this known problem to exist AT ALL in any form since RELEASE!? That is by far the most lazy and incompetent excuse I have ever heard. Here's an idea, "Just FIX it once and for all". While you are at it, fix the loading times issue that has also been there since release.

And contrary to your statement, "it is just a small percentage of people, and it just happens every so often, and was so beneath our notice that we let forum people fix it..." It is a problem that tons of people have, and have had since release. It is not isolated, it is not a small number. You just relied on "customer fixes". until it broke beyond our ability to fix. Had we been able to fix it amongst ourselves, you still would not even be addressing this, ever.

Excellent points D_Thoran. I would like to add that

1) please listen to the "small" percentage of people, their errors in this case turned out to be valid.
2) Did Customer Support tagged the complaints as "Resolved"? If that's the case there's seriously something wrong with them. If not, did Bioware/EA just completely disregard non-resolve complaints?
3) Why not fix this existing problem instead of relying on the users to fix it themselves via workaround? surely there's still room for improvement.

I love the games, but not the bugs :(

Soooo How will you compensate us for your SNAFU making our legally purchased games unavailable?

Thievery, some may call it... Incompetence, others.

As an update everything is working properly but still having authorization problems. If I log in, everything authenticates, and all my stuff is in game, everything is perfect. However, if I quit the game after an hour or so due to the old load time issue bug or whatever, when I restart the game again my content is once again unauthorized, forcing me to log in again. If I do it authorizes it again, but this needs to be done away with.

What if I am playing in a place with no internet access and have to stop the game for awhile? I will not be able to play my paid for content again until I log in again for another round of authorizations!?

Do NOT let this die. They need to make this a permanent fix so that I can play this game, with all my authorized content, without problems 10 years from now if I want, or if Bioware or EA ceases to exist. FIX THIS. Two years is two years too long...

Tested what D_Thoran said, and in my case, same thing happens to me. After achieving authentication status, I logged out and turned off autologin. everything good so far. However, after quitting and accessing the game again, its unauthorized again, so in my case I need 100% login everytime to play :|

Why do I need to be logged in to play DLC or the game?

You don't - or are not supposed to need to be logged in. The system was designed such that after the first authorization you should be able to play offline, and it does do this for the overwhelming majority of players (based on data we see). As mentioned above however, there is a known issue which affects a very low number of players, and can be addressed either manually or with a beta tool we've provided (see below). But otherwise you should not need to login/re-authorize.

Cool story bro, I guess? Sure hope said patch will do away with this. I'm getting my hopes up and will be waiting for this.

For those of you who still have the issue, please check my latest post here. It has to do with starting the daupdater.

(always good to read a little around the thread and not just the last message)

PS: Posting from my cellphone so I can't reply with quotes or too much info.

Guys....it's a game. Relax if you can't play for a few hours, or even a few days. It's ok, you'll live. Go get some sun or something for a change.

If you had read through the thread, you would see that most of us treated this snafu in a lighthearted and upbeat manner.  We know that these things happen and were mostly frustrated that they only way to get to the bottom of the problem was through the community and not through the company.  There were the occasional CAPS LOCK outrage posts, sure but most of us were just having a good time. We were (are) in the true sense of the word a community, come together for a common purpose and helping each other out.  But it's all cool.  You can still come to the hottub party.

At this rate, it doesn't seem to be IF but WHEN EA/BioWare ceases to exist.  Not a great way to keep customers, for sure.  I'm not on the "I'll never buy another BioWare game" bandwagon yet but I may jump on it if I can't get the DLC when logged out.  Especially since I bought the UE and have it on disk and all that.  I will be travelling extensively in the next six months and I had hoped to be able to play DA while by myslef at the hotels.  If I have to log in to do that, I won't be able to.  For a single player game, that seems a little off.

Seconded - completely and totally seconded. Flag his account and give him goodies.

Most of you already know about this thread, but it helped me.

http://social.biowar...58/index/759141

In that thread at the end she said this,

"None of that works, my content is still unauthorized

This can often be caused by a problem writing to the My Documents\\Bioware\\Dragon Age\\Settings\\profile.dap file. Make sure that the file is writable. You can also try renaming the file to something else, and forcing the game to regenerate it, which it will do the next time you log in. Achievements are also stored in this file, so you want to make sure you don't delete the old version until you're sure everything is working. If your achievements have been uploaded to the social site they will be redownloaded to your computer when you log in."

This is what fixed the game for me. Thought it could help.

I woke up and was happy to see it fixed. Yay! Also Deathwurm you're welcome. If I hadn't done them myself I think I would have been more in a mood about this. Thanks to everyone. This forum has been brilliant (shame for the circumstances). Major thanks to Raen, Redundantcookie and Fuzzy

It was a pain being stranded, but at least it was fun being stranded with you guys - This is an excellent community! :)

Cheers to that!  My account doesn't tell me I have no friends anymore!  I feel so loved.

I agree with Cookie... Merlin, her and you, Fuzzy, have been a fun distraction. ~smiles~

I've enjoyed the comments with Jen, as well.

I like this place...well...the people. I really don't want to consider leaving...

So glad they fixed this issue, though it would of been nice for Bioware to post a thread about it earlier instead of me (And others I expect) shouting andscreaming at anyone who comes near and trying to find a way to solve the issue through technical support with gritted teeth. I thought my account had been hacked!

It is not fixed for me. It seemed fixed for a moment and then I purchased Witch Hunt and suddenly it was unauthorized again. I am using DAO: Digital Deluxe myself with every available DLC there is purchased/earned.

You know, one good thing about the Blight  DLC failure is how it brings people together.

lol @Fuzzy! Nice!

Okay, so I know it's not quite the right place to ask, but since the issue is largely resolved (except for isolated cases not having to do specifically with the server down issue)...

I have to ask something. Are the mod projects generally considered safe? I really want to get into Sappho's Daughters ~smirks~ but I have to ask that question before I even try it.

As I said, many are still having the issue where it all becomes authorized, until you log out. Still happening on this end. I love Bioware. I have followed them since the early Interplay/Black Isle days, and they make some of the best games out there. I do not want to stop buying their stuff, but they are almost forcing me to with the customer support we are receiving (or not rather) on the glaring issues with this game.

A few weeks ago if you had asked me if I was going to buy the next Kotor, Mass Effect, mmo, whatever I would have said yes without hesitation. Now....I'm just not so sure...and that makes me sad.

Still having the authorization issues. I purchased this PoS game because i enjoyed the 2nd one so much I wanted to try the first as well. I cant even play it and don't think i ever will even try to again. I'm just uninstalling this garbage and going to try my best to forget about ever wasting 40 bucks on it

I hope you will reconsider in time. If you liked DA2 you may well find that Origins is a far superior product. More choices, the ability to customize your companions gear, and an epic story.
