Ok when the server went down I was currently using Shale and two daggers obtained from DLC thus they all got taken away when it was unauthorised....now its all back up Shale and all the items I found during DLC quests are MIA. Any idea how I can get these back? It's registering that I've completed the quests so I'm unsure what to do.

I wasn't aware of any DLC issues until I tried to play the game today, and hit up the forums to see if it was just a login issue. Sadly, it is not, and now I can't actually access any of the content that I've paid for and downloaded, and continue my playthrough of the game. :/

Are there any updates at all for this particular issue? I'd really prefer to not have to reinstall the entire game again, like I did the last time I had DLC issues.

@ donnakeitch, Narsuss, & Farlianth: I am fairly certain the larger server issue has been completely fixed. I've been playing logged in for 2 days now.
I am not in any way good with Computers...sorry...
Those Community members that are really good at this kind of thing look like they are either Playing or taking a well-deserved break.
The only thing I can suggest is to take a look at "DAO Solutions Round-up: April Edition" thread posted by RaenImrahl in this Forum (I don't even know how to create a Link...that's how Computer Illiterate I am)
Our very own Merlin has put together some pretty usefull help and there may be some answers there.
If that doesn't work, I know the more Tech-Savy Forumites have been checking here pretty regularly, so hold tight.
I'm sorry I can't be of more help.

The orginal explaination behind the server error is here:

http://social.biowar...6701/52#7058914

... it includes some links to help trouble shoot issues for those who have problems regardless of the server issue.

There is also a roundup of recent solutions on this forum here:

And official tech support is available at support.ea.com.

If anyone is missing items or companions from the server outage, and everything looks as though it has been installed correctly, make sure you didn't edit the Addins.xml file to change all those 1's to 0's. If you did, even though your DLC is correctly installed, the 0 value for RequiresAuthorization actually turns off your DLC. If you did make those edits I'd look there first.

+1 for Aelina here.

Yes...changing the addins.xml file shuts off the DLC so you stop getting errors and lets you load saves that had DLC in them.

If you are simply stuck where you can't play with your DLC while logged out, check my post, and those of others, regarding your cd key and your windows registry. This seems to be the most common culprit.

I have just logged on after several days of problems and would like to say a quick thank you to Bioware/EA for getting this fixed. Personally, I think that some people need to take a step back. Did anyone die? No. Did the world end? No. It is, at the end of the day, just a game. Sure, it was a little inconvenient but I am sure they were working hard to fix it. Sometimes these things take a little bit of time to do. I think that in this digital age some people just want everything instantly when it is just not possible. Again, thank you Bioware/EA for a nice resolution.

Thank you very much for pointing me in the right direction RaenImrahl.

It took hours to fix the problem, actually days to be honest, but it seems to have worked.

Yet another reminder why I dropped PC gaming years ago.

I read a great post of yours regarding this fiasco on some thread.

I'll start a new thread, as recommended by you, and let everybody know what version of the game I have and how I fixed the problem.

This will be my first and also my last post on this issue.

Thanx to the community who helped me. With that thread i was able to understand that the error wasn't connected to my installation but to some server issues. (To make long stories short cost myself 4h of sparetime and another day where i couldn't play cause i reinstalled Ultimate Edition without backing up my profiles.dap << means no savegame was playable)

After all i still want to express something:

To whoever is responsible for the DRM system. Asked yourself a few questions:
-How can it be that it is much easier to install a hacked / cracked version of DA:O with all DLC's than a bought one?
-Is it ok that your customers seem to have more troubles with the DRM than the one you don't want to use your software?
-If you find pirated versions throu google does it make sense to keep DRM?

I have bought Dragon Age Origins when it came out first. Since this time i hear from people that they have problems with the DaUpdate service. Most cases belongs to Vista and Windows 7 users, where the service still isn't installed correctly / doesn't work correctly (eg: shutdown after first start of the game / never gets started when windows is started <-- normal installation), Even on the new release (eg: Ultimate Edition) the DaUpdate service needs to be lauchend manually on a Windows 7. I for myself don't understand why there isn't already a fix for that problem and even there is one (eg: this beta tool) why it isn't included in the ultimate edition?

I can only advice you to remove that DRM or at least give a patch out which handles at least all the issues related to the DRM.Still i prefer the remove option. If you need an example where it was a good decission, ask the producer of the witcher. I think they still sell their product, even all protection was removed. An other reason to remove it would be that the game + DLC might be much easier to install under wine. That might also make some linux users buy the game. See http://appdb.winehq....rsion&iId=19677 << part about DLC (what a trouble).

Instead of discussing if there needs to be more supporter on the forum start understanding that your customers are the one which gets most hurted by a DRM system.

Last words:
All the time i'm working with pc's , there was always someone who hacked the best protection.
- dongles (hardware) -> removed by software emulation
- saftedisc (hardware / software) -> removed by software change or software emulation
- PS3 (hardware) -> removed by bugs inside of the implementation (usb dongles / usb bug / other os)
- PS2 (hardware) -> removed by a hardware chip.

So why do you try to invest lots of money into a DRM / Protection System where it will be hacked / cracked anyway. Wouldn't it make more sense instead to invest money for infrastructure / code / support of the DRM system investing this money in better games? In my experience customer gets year by year software with more bugs / with less hours of gameplay and more stress to play (stupid DRM systems which wants to be always online for single player experience...)

I am still having trouble with this. Logged in, or logged out, it seems pretty much everything (except awakening) is still unauthorized. This problem seems to go away when I log out or exit, then restart, but it still gives me the error message.

Honestly, I think this whole issue pretty much ruined my game.

Rob and RaenImrahl

I've installed my DA ultimate edition disc version exactly when there was a problem regarding the dlc's glad to know that it was already fixed, but I still havent try to check if its really ok, and I've got another question, Do i really need to insert the cd before playing the game? because after I've installed the game I thought I could play it without a cd but when I try to play the game it asked me that it needed a cd to play. Kindly inform me if there's something I have to do first before I can play it without cd. Thanks!

Just went through all the trouble of rebooting, uninstalling, realizing that the EA download manager auto deletes the installer upon completion, watching the 27GB download begin all over again, AND THEN realizing that there's a promo code emailed to me that I have to register. Part of me feels like an idiot and another wishes there was a more intuitive way of authorizing content that is purchased through EA's own store. Honestly...

prolly a stupid question tada- but did you remain logged in when you restarted? some earlier posts mentioned that if they logged out the old problem reared up again. Basically had to be logged in for the dlc to work

After giving up on ever getting a replacement disc from EA from my original game, I bought and installed DAO-UE on April 9th. I've been reading the posts and trying suggestions for a week now. While I appreciate the thoughtful efforts to solve the problem, nothing has worked for me. I miss Shale, I want the Warden's Armor, and I want to go after Morrigan. I will keep checking in to see if a solution has been found, but ALMOST (as in separated but not divorced) ready to give it up. Thanks everyone (except EA for the mail fraud which happens to be a felony btw).

Does anyone know what "NucleusOnlineLoginAuthenticationToken" is and what it does? Found it in the DragonAge.ini file.

Still not fixed... Wow. I´m done with EA´s and Bioware´s DRM products. Congrats in losing another customer. This hassle just isn´t worth it.
