Ah, how stupid of me to not notice.

It works like a charm, 10 min after my post I run the Service.exe once more to discover that the Dragon age - Content Updater was there once I used the program, the "DAUPDATER" as it is called. (scroll over it and you will find it's named "Dragon age content updater")
Which is exactly what you told us to do, in a sense.

Thank you, Cadim. I wouldn't have been able to activate it if I wasn't inspired by your little guide.

P.s. "C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Electronic Arts\\Dragon Age™ Origins - Ultimate Edition\\__Installer\\DAUServiceSetup.exe" is not correct for every user.

I say, look up "D(or whatever you've got):\\Program Files\\Dragon age\\bin_ship\\DAUPDATER" then run it, and then look it up on "Service.exe." to change the command to "Automatic"
You just have look it up by yourselves to find it. Ofc, I could be dead wrong in my theory.

Have you tried running  "C:Program Files (x86)Electronic ArtsDragon Age™ Origins - Ultimate Edition__InstallerDAUServiceSetup.exe"? I had to run it for my service to appear...

/facepalm

that worked! and now I see that it was in your earlier post, which I should have noticed. I'm off to play, humbled yet thankful...

SOLUTION

I just bought Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition through EA Download Manager and everything was "unauthorized", even though I redeemed my bonus content code (which is required for everything to work).

Didn't have to reinstall everything!

Run "services.msc"
There should be a service "Dragon Age: Origins - Content Updater" initialized and in automatic initialization mode. If not, initialize it and set it to automatic initialization mode.
Run the game, log out and log in again. It should all be authorized now!

If you have errors on initializing the service (like I did) at first or if the service doesn't appear in the list, run "C:Program Files (x86)Electronic ArtsDragon Age™ Origins - Ultimate Edition__InstallerDAUServiceSetup.exe". I had a wrong configuration of the service (due to a previous installation) so I had to run that twice: the first time to remove the wrong configuration and the second to install the correct one. Don't forget to initialize the service and to put it in automatic initialization mode before running the game, and don't forget to logout and login again inside the game as well.

Hope it helps!

I don't have the Content Updater service running so I ran DAUServiceSetup.exe as detailed above. I ran it once to create the service. Then I ran it again to start the service. I clicked on Details and saw this:

http://i56.tinypic.com/2d0kk5d.jpg

I think this is probably at the heart of the issue of what's going on here. Any one have an suggestions on what to do from here?

It's really frustrating that I purchased DAO Ultimate, however did not recieve about half of what I paid for and have spent tons of hours trying to access something I purchased.

If you didn't have the service listed, you wouldn't need to run it twice. In my case, I had to run twice because I already had a service configured due to an old dragon age origins installation, so it wasn't pointing to my new installation (Ultimate Edition).
The message you sent indicates the service is installed. Run "services.msc" from windows command line, look for the service named "Dragon Age: Origins - Content Updater", start it and set it to automatic mode.
I know it sucks having to do this bullsh*t in order to play! I am disappointed too. But the game is worth playing in my opinion. Hope BioWare resolves this issue somehow...

Bought the Ultimate Edition today via EA Download. I registered my promo code here, but none of my DLC was authorized. Have tried Cadim's solution - thanks, by the way, that had to help - without success: the service is now installed, running, and set to automatic, but almost all the DLC is still showing as 'Enabled' but 'Unauthorized'.

This is intensely frustrating. I don't really want to start a new game with most of the content still locked up.

Ok guys, I just bought the UE today. I installed fine. I started playing Leliana's song, and it was absolutely fine. After 20 minutes, I saved and closed the game down. When I came back, all of my dlc showed as unauthorized. MAddening!

This is the exact state I am in right now. The service is set to run automatically, all dlc is enabled, and apart from Awakening, everything is unauthorized. Got a physical disc btw.

To you folks that bought UE on disc and can't get it to work, be sure to let tech support know you are having trouble. They will tell you to reinstall and edit registry and some other things and eventually send you a polite email saying they are aware of the issue and working to fix it. The forums are great, but our problem cannot be solved completely here. In the meantime, be happy you can at least run the main story lines.

May the Maker watch over you.

yeah I had a previous install of DAO as well, which I why I foolishly thought I should run it twice :-p  It was wrong tho for sure, had to run it a third since I ran it twice. It's now showting up in services (yay)....Start....ups error message....start again....omg it's working...run automatically....launch game....sigh unauthorized....sign out....sign in....OH MY GOD ENABLED....run game....SOLIDER'S PEAK! THERE IT IS! TEN HOURS LATER! THANK YOU SO MUCH.

so yeah, anyone who purchased DAO Ultimate recently and could only access the main game and Awakenings, with everything else "unauthorized", try following cadim's advice. I tried like 10 other things, and this one actually worked for w/e my problem was. Thanks a lot cadim

I'm glad some people are able to play the full content. In order to help more, I will list the two essential steps of the workaround:

1) Ensure that the "Dragon Age: Origins - Content Updater" Windows Service is started before you enter the game.
2) If you have auto-login enabled in the game, logout and login again (inside the game). The game seems to only authorize the content when you make the login manually inside of it.

Everything (with more details) is in my first post, but I would like to emphasize not to miss the hints above since they are critical for the workaround.

The final part of the "official message" from Rob Bartel is the issue "should be fixed". I just bought DAO Ultimate yesterday and all the DLC is still unauthorized for me to use. So has the issue been fixed or not?

Hi i purchased 'return to ostagar' and 'warden's keep' while playing on my old computer. i've upgraded to a new computer and reinstalled dragonage origins. i then downloaded those expansion packs from the bioware website under my account and installed them. Unfortunately on launching dragonage, i'm told that the modules i had installed are 'unauthorized'??

the bioware website under my account also indicates that i had redeemed 'stoneprisoner' and 'blood dragon armor' but do not present download links for them. i am therefore unable to reinstall those modules.

Any solutions to the two problems above? Any help appreciated thx.

the ones you cannot download are automatically on your account, all you have to do is log in and they should be there, in your "Installation tab" in game

It is a shame that the system is so fragile. And that it takes so long to fix the problem. I find it somewhat irritating that having the DLC's suddenly become "Unauthorized" is something that happens quite often and to quite a big number of people. So please, Bioware... please sort this out. Patience is a virtue, but can only last for so long.

yeah, I tried to play again, and all of my content went to unautheruzed, even my Dragon armour and stuff, and I wanted to beat the first one, before I started the second one, I started to play the first one when it first came out then got way to busy, and now that I have time I can't even play it unless I start over, because it won't let me use any of my DLC in online or offline mode.

I wholeheartedly agree it is very frustrating. The program worked for me for 6 months than in the last 3 months I had the problem but was able to correct it now it seems it is consistently saying unauthorized software yet says registered on profile and keeping me in logged out mode at main dragon age screen. Really makes me wander if worth future purchases of their products if this does not get resolved.

I reinstalled all my dragon age content today and I have same prob as everyone else above.Liliana's Song,Darkspawn Chronicles, and Golems of Amgarrak are not listed in Other Campaigns.I am pissed off Bioware needs to sort the problems out before releasing a MMO or they will have major problems with sales.

yeah, I found this one article tried every possible fix on it it said, and nothing happened, I remember I get hit and miss on having some autherized if I launch Dragon Age The Awaking through steam, but right when I try to play the game online or offline the had already reset to unautherized, :-(

I think they need to take two steps backwards before taking another step forward, put it back to 1.02 where all client that I had orrigionally purchased worked, then reintergrate that with there 1.04, and have that all work, then make a 1.04r, so we can atleast play with the previous content, then... go another step forward with 1.05, to get all the acounts to update properly... Ok guys, found the problem with my situation. My situation was that my dlc was unauthorized even though the updater was set to to run automatically. The problem lies in the file:
My Documents/Bioware/DragonAge/Settings/profile.dap

What you have to do is rename that file to profile1 or something, and then click properties. For me, read only was selected. By de-selecting read only and then logging out/back in again, everything worked fine, and has worked since. Hope this helps!
