Over the April 9, 2011 weekend, some of our Dragon Age: Origins content servers experienced an as yet unidentified failure. As a result, users began to experience error messages when attempting to access their downloadable content, indicating that the DLC was unauthorized.

We apologize for the inconvenience and are currently investigating and working to resolve the issue on our end. We will update this thread once we know more.

I do want to play the game but the server is the issue.

I have checked the threads. Considering most of them refer to the daupdater (which doesn't exist on the Mac) that doesn't help me. Delete and reinstall? Did that too. Removed the addins folder and file. Did that. Removed the settings file and folder, did that.

The only thing I haven't done this time is the dreaded "change the authorized from 1 to 0" in the file because frankly it seems pretty bogus.

I understand you're trying to help Marvin_Arnold, but I'm so unbelievable frustrated with this whole situation you can't believe it. I have this very same game on my PC and can't play it there. On my PC I can't use the disc I purchased because the extractor fails at 15%. Every time I bring that up to the techs they ignore the thread from EA forums with dozens of people having the same problem. They converted my game to a digital download. Do you know how long it takes to download 27GB? When the first install didn't work (dlc content unauthorized, how about that?) they had me delete it and redownload it. 110 hours of download time now. Because you guessed it, the second install didn't work either. Somehow the daupdater never got installed on either of the of the downloads from EA's own download manager program. I have talking with techs every other day since the first of this month. I'm getting no where. So I chalked it up to a bad situation and purchased the exactly same game for my Mac, expecting the install to be better. Rinse and repeat. No dlc content.

Sorry for the rant but if I hear the rep tell me to download 27GBs one more time I'm gonna punch something.

Sorry to hear that they haven't been able to help you resolve this.  One thing to confirm is that you can see all the DLCs here, that are attached to the account you are logging into the game with.  (for ex: with this account, I do not see any DAO DLCs on it - so if you are logging in to the game with this account, that would be the problem).

If this is the account you'd like to use, then please ensure you redeem the DLC code(s) provided - you can do so here.

Feel free to IM me directly if that still does not work for you - sorry again that you're having issues with this.

Sorry, everyone - I feel terrible for not updating this thread sooner. No excuse other than that life got busy and I forgot. Let the beatings commence.

The problem we experienced with our authentication servers was corrected on the April 13th and then we took them down during off-peak hours for a couple of 15-minute outages in the weeks that followed to perform some further tweaks and analysis.

It appears that some PC and Mac users continue to be experiencing authentication issues, despite the issue being corrected at the server level. Please join the PC discussion in the following two threads while we continue to investigate:

Thank you for your understanding and patience and, once again, I apologize for not updating this thread in a more timely fashion.

That is also an issue we're seeing and investigating on the PC side. At this point I won't offer conjecture as to why it's occurring but at least it's just a nuisance rather than blocking issue. We are looking into it, however.
