Nuh-uh. After what DA2 did to Anders, I don't want ANY of the old companions to show up in DA3. New Cast please!

And not because I don't understand the gutsy stuff they tried to do with his character arc. Because I don't wanna see another genuinely charming and warm character turned into a broken-willed half-monster murderer who makes you kinda want to end it all with a bit of rusty tin.

Anders, mad mage and all, I can't help but feel sorry for him. I often romance him in most of my playthrough.

Alistair, Fenris, Wynne, Leliana, Isabela... Wynne always seemed a little better at healing than Anders... But I liked having him as well. Plus, just loved Sebastian, even if he kinda died a lot...

It's a tie for the last position with Bethany/Alistair for me. And this is assuming Hawke and the Warden are basically dual protoganists since I don't want them AI controlled. Wouldn't work.

Ahhh... to dream. That would be awesome. Realistically, I hope none of the major characters are companions this go around for the sake of not messing with player's worlds that have been created.

Okay.....hmm.....this is a bit tricky.....

Only 7 slots huh? All right...let's break this down then person by person....

1) Alistair; why? He's a Templar yes, but he's a very level-headed Templar and I happen to find his humor and wit rather funny. Plus, he's a pretty good tank.

2) Ogrhen; why? Ogrhen has a place in my roster as a pretty good damage dealer. Sure, he doesn't have the magic resistance that Fenris gets, but he's also got that personality.

3) Leliana; why? Umm....she's a nice archer and I like her character's personality. Plus, if she's a seeker now, it wouldn't hurt to have her on your side.

4) Velanna; why? I think she's very underrated as a mage. Plus, I've never cared for Anders and I have a gut feeling that Wynne is already dead and that Morrigan will play a role somehow that makes it so you can't have her in your party. Personally, I'd rather have Wynne, but I'm also logically counting her out because she's probably already dead.

5) Sigrun; why? She's actually quite the decent dual-wielder. I liked to use her to stealth and flank with myself or Ogrhen.

6) Merill; why? She's another good mage, compared to what's left if you eliminate both Wynne (age) and Morrigan (plot?). Bethany.....meh....I'm glad that in Legacy she was made into a Force Mage, but unless Hawke is somehow a companion, then leave Bethany in Kirkwall.

7) Varric; why? ....If I REALLY need to explain why Varric should be on this team, then obviously you didn't care very much for him. Hands down, the BEST archer AND trap detector....plus, the man can talk his way out of a great deal of things.


Really wanted Shale somehow on there....maybe as an extra DLC companion like Sebastian was. Nathaniel too....but with Varric and Leliana....his role is already filled. Isabella....meh....yeah, she gained a personality in DA 2, but....she's not the greatest rogue. She's not bad! But her health certainly lacks for when she goes into melee. Never played Golems...and the NPC's from Witch Hunt (aside from Dog) really didn't stand out enough for me. Zevran...he'd be another one I'd love to have on the team. I really didn't use him much....but he was always fun to talk to. Avaline, in the end, didn't make the cut. Why? I use her exclusively in my cannon DA 2 game. But, I always play a "sword-and-shield" warrior. And...since I already have Alistair.....I'd like a little variety. Fenris and Sten; liked Fenris and loved Sten, but in the end, I think Ogrhen is just that right balance that fits the party.

If I could give a slot to Dog, I would. But, if he fills the same role that he did in DA 2, that's actually better I think. It gives you a 5th person without giving up a slot.

EDIT: Oh right....Carver....always played a warrior. Sometimes a rogue....so he always died.

I always wonder why people choose Velanna over Anders. I mean, I can see Anders whining on DA2 being annoying but Velana is as obsessed as he is. And I can see people condemning his actions on DA2 but Velanna is worse. She is a serial killer that kills with massive cruelty to the innocent victims that she didn't even bother to investigate if they were guilty.

She is a good mage, but her killing spree on DAA turns me cold. Anders at least had a somewhat valid reason. Velanna ? Couldn't be arsed to investigate what my Warden discovered in 5 minutes. And Merril is so much nicer!!! I really can't see why anyone would chose Velanna.
