2. Leliana
3. Morrigan (the two in same party always makes me laugh. "Stop staring at my breasts like that")
4. Ariane (her monologues with the dog are pretty funny, and her general attitude is likeable)
5. Isabella
6. Aveline
7. Varric
Ahm.....just noticed I do have this tendency to build my parties around women. Probably due to the fact I play mostly male warrior types. Also would not trust Zevran, Anders or Fenris, behind my character looking at his behind all the time. j/k

Leliana
Morrigan
Merrill
Veric
Alistair
Isabella is close to being there i think, but I'm not sure yet. Shale wouldn't be bad but seeing as her endings are so radically different that might be hard.

-Morrigan - For obvious plot reasons
-Alistair - What can I say? I adore him!
-Loghain - My deepest DA character crush ever. The voice, the depth, the background....and finally some Loggy/Ali banters!
-Anders/Justice - Goddammit Anders! *Glomps*
-Varric - Rules the world. And must be a romance option!
-Fenris - I'd pay a full game price just to see him banter with Ali & Loggy.
-Aveline - A strong, deep female warrior. Much needed!
Yes, a very pro gal list and highly unlikely.

So, in no real order, here are my picks:
- Merrill- she is really a good character and the struggles she has within herself only add to her greatness. Possibly my favorite bioware LI?
- Alistair- He had a goofy personallity and was pretty likable throughout the majority of the game. He was also a great LI.
- Aveline- I loved her caring nature and she made an awesome tank.
- Morrigan- So she may have ran off and had a god baby, but im sure she still has a rockin body. And her snide remarks always put a smile on my face

- Varric- I really liked all the situations that allowed Varric to make up these ridiculous stories to avoid a fight. and i would really like to romance Bianca
- Isabela- Oh Isabela, even though you ditched me on almost alllll my playthroughs...I really loved your banter and i believe her and Morrigan would have some funny conversations.
- Wynne- She is basically a more controlled mentally stable Anders. It always made me sad hearing her talk about how she was ready to die, but if she is going to, i wanna be there when she goes..not reading it in some codex entry :/
- Bethany/Carver-I was really depressed we didnt have more time with our siblings after they were taken/recruited. I think it would be great to see them start talking about their new lives and maybe even give them a specialization depending on what happened to them?

- Varric
- Fenris
- Nathaniel Howe
- Alistair
- Wynne
- Isabela
- Zev (or Dog, see below)
I'd welcome guest roles from practically any non-listed companion, though! Plus Bethany/Carver if they survived. I'm also assuming Dog isn't an option, though he could easily (and would) replace Zev on my list above.
I may be in the minority, but the only caster I really felt any kind of connection/attachment with was Wynne. Anders annoyed me from DA:A (no, I didn't just start hating on him at DA2), the other mage in DA:A (name rememberance fail) struck me as too crazy to keep around, and Morrigan would just not be compatible if I was playing as my Warden (seeing as Alistair survived also...) Merril just left me flat. She has her fans, but I'm not one of the major ones. It's OK though.
If it was exclusively Hawke as the PC and no major Hero of Ferelden/Warden involvement, I would consider replacing Zev with Aveline, my canon Hawke's BFF (only because I feel like Nate has a lot of potential story left, and Zev, while ridiculously awesome, could provide some great cameo/questgiver time).
I'm rambling again.

And, uh... Hmm....
-Varric
-Ogre
-Charade (Your cousin, Gamlen's daughter)
-...Uh...
Gigantic spider would make a great companion, though.
PC: So, gigantic spider, tell me about yourself.
G.S.: *shifts fangs around and rubs hairy legs some*
PC: Err, no thanks, actually, I'm taken, she's right over there by the fire...

2. Sigrun (cheery and curious about the world--loved her)
3. Anders (but only if he's more Anders and less Justice--which is probably impossible now, story-wise)
4. Varric (great care-taker and hilarious)
5. Bethany (would love to see how she's matured)
And on the moody/broody side:
6. Fenris (oh...the voice that launched a thousand ships--and easy on the eyes, too)
7. Nathaniel Howe (grew to like him and his sincerity in DA:A)
but if Anders is more Justice, his spot can be taken by Merrill (loved her VA)

- Anders/Justice (go #1!)
- Flemeth (with more than a cameo)
- Zevran (so long as his face is fixed)
- Varric (of course!)
- Finn (there was something not quite right with him, seriously)
- Shale (impossible I know, but I miss her voice so much!)
and although she isn't on the list:
- Cassandra Penteghast (so much potential!)
NB: I adore Aveline but I feel like her story shaped in a nice curve and don't need any closure with her. I also love Fenris but I can't see anything more to his story.
I don't mind any other characters really, but I DON'T want to see Oghren again (joke wore thin in Awakenings) or any more angry/irrational Dalish women.
SPECIAL NOMINATION: Master Wade and Herren for DA3!!
Ooooh Jumps up and down. Yesssss! Master Wade and Herren would be very high on my list for a large cameo/side quest.

Fenris
Varric
Sebastian
Morrigan
Zevran
Shale
Vellana

- My DA:O Warden as my player character [warrior]
- Leliana (as my Warden's LI)
- Wynne
- My DA2 Hawke as an NPC [mage]
- Isabella (as Hawke's LI)
- Avelline
This would also give me a good balance of 2 warriors, 2 mages and 2 rogues.

- Sten (favourite DA:O companion. He would probably add a lot more insight on the Qunari in DA3. If possible, romanceable).
- Shale (awesome golem was awesome. Also, there are pigeons that need to be dealt with)
- Aveline (she was an awesome character and she kicked ass)
- Sigrun (awesome character, the world needs more female dwarves. Romanceable...please. *drool*)
- Varric (gotta love the Bianca-wielding, hairy-chested storyteller. Romanceableplz).
- Morrigan (obvious story reasons. Shapeshifter is fun too, if it were improved upon)
- Finn (spirit healer, and he's funny. xD)
Personally, I'd prefer it if it was just a romeanceable Varric and Shale that returned, and that you could make a new character of the race Human, Elf, Dwarf, or Kossith, and the rest were all new characters, including a Kossith (that is, the race that Qunari and Tal'Vashoth are). I'd also love to see a Nevarran (Cassandra?

-Merrill, likewise for DA2
-Varric, my constant DA2 companion, I'd love to have his banter in chat.
-Aveline, who I WANTED to romance. I find her charming, agressive and moral yet with a lighter side to ehr.
-Alistair, my DA best friend. Doesn't really make sense, though, what with him being king and all.
-Finn, the little I saw of him in Witch Hunt I loved. He was a nerdy, awkward and slightly cowardly healer and that make him likeable.
-Oghren, I want to see him chat to Varric. PLEASE let me see him chat to Varric.

- Varric Tethras: Perhaps my alltime favourite BioWare character. He's definitely alive post DA2, is a fan favourite, and is just so much fun to have around. Personally I can't imagine a DA game without him in it now, although obviously if the franchise continues on into the far distance I will have to accept that likelihood. For DA3 though, let the chest hair return.
- Merrill: Purely because I love her to bits! I went from not even wanting another Elf Mage character in DA2 to adoring where they went with her character, and particularly if Hawke returns for DA3 I would want to have my rivalmanced Merrill alongside him. Plus, Eve Myles!!
- Sten: The challenger for the position of my all time favourite BioWare character. I still think they could (and should have) fit Sten into DA2 somehow, and needless to say I want him back for DA3. I know there are numerous opportunites to lose him in Origins, but frankly I would accept any insane retcon that allows his return in a major role.
- Isabela: She is devestatingly awesome, absolutely gorgeous, and like Varric is great fun to have in your party. This is all my opinion of course, one less people share than with Varric, but from what I can tell she is popular enough around here that her return would hardly be unwelcome. She will have been in every game if she turns up in DA3 as well! A minor detail that I'd love to see. Lastly I feel that she fills a great role, one that could end up just being replaced by an inferior character or even just one who is always judged against Izzy.
- Sigrun: A very unrealistic choice perhaps? Sigrun is all about the death in so many ways, she is a member of the Legion of the Dead, she is eager to give in to her Calling even when she becomes a Warden and there are several chances for a player to lose her completely. With all that said she is one of the sunniest and joyful characters to have around in DA and one I would love to see more of (nudge nudge, wink wink). Basically: More Sigrun please! Thinking realistically I do fear that we are more likely to see a new female Dwarf character however.
- This is where it gets difficult for me. There are plenty I can think of, but some I can see more as cameos and not as companions. I'm going to say Finn: I loved both Finn and Ariane in Witch Hunt and was really hoping they would appear in DA2. Sadly not to be, but I still think they could play a role in DA3 and I have chosen Finn particularly as his mix of Jayne Cobb and dorky Mage was perfectly realised in the brief DLC if you ask me. I just really want to see more of him, and against the backdrop of a Mage rebellion would be perfect. Particularly when you consider he apparently never returned to the Circle after Witch Hunt... His and Ariane's loose connection to the Morrigan storyline also makes me hopeful they will return.
- Fenris: This was tricky but in the end it can only be Fenris for me. I had very low expectations of his character going into DA2 and was pretty much blown away by how much I liked him. Yes he is broody and argumentative, but he is also sophisticated and funny (certainly in a very dry way but still). His banter was often brilliant and of all the characters in the game I feel he is one who has so much left to give.
Wynne: Really want to see her and Anders have a chat somehow amongst others things.
Shale: Got a couple of mentions in DA2 and I wouldn't mind seeing everyones favourite bird hating Golem crop up somewhere. Especially as making Golem characters that interesting can't be overly easy.
Nate Howe: He cropped up again in DA2 and almost pipped Fenris to my 7th spot. Great character, deserves to play a role in any future Warden related goodness.
The Hawke Siblings: If DA3 features Hawke I think we all expect/hope to see the surviving sibling (should THEY have survived) turn up at some point. They have so mny different potential fates that I just can't see them as a companion however.
Morrigan: A popular choice I'm sure. I want her to return, but I'm happy for it not to be as a companion. In fact I think of Leliana in the same way, I want to see them both feature heavily in the plot (and I suspect that they will all things considered) but I think both have too much potential as antagonists as well as allies to be permanant companions. Maybe Liara style temp companions? Anders is in the same boat as well actually.

Morrigan: Because I did the ritual with her in Origins (was also my romance option) and I want to see how deeply involved in the story she is.
Fenris: Because since he was my romance option for my Hawke, it makes sense that he would stay with Hawke and appear in the third game.
Bethany: After making her into a Grey Warden I no longer thought of Bethany as just a character who was just meant to fill a blank spot in the party selection. I think it was cool how Bethany got her own chance to shine and I would love to see how she benefits Hawke.
Anders: This is mainly because I sided with the mages at the end of the game and after everyone splitting up and war breaks out, it would make sense to regroup with those you aided.
Zevran: Other than Morrigan, Zevran was my favorite character in Origins. And I thought he was my comic relief type of character for the majority of the game.
Merrill: Call me soft but I thought Merrill was cute. Although I would very much like an opportunity to "harden" her in the third game similarly to Alistair and Leliana.
Velanna: Yes I know she came across as a hardass but I'm a sucker for elves. Also she would obviously side with the mages in order to finally oppose humans who believe mages must be watched.

Also I would my Warden from Origins to be a party member. While that is unlikely, I still think it would be cool.

If it's the devilishly handsome warden that is my Avatar I would gladly go with,
Warden:
Morrigan (romanced)
Alistair (Post King)
Zevran (Adventurous Thief)
Oghren (Drunk comic relief)
Shayle (in dwarf form)
Anders (Ser-Pounce-A-Lot is rescued and Anders returns to DA:A self)
Nathaniel (Arl of Amaranthine)
Hawke:
Isabela (Romanced)
Varric (Trusty Bromance Dwarf)
Merril (Adorable, finally learns Healing spell)
Fenris (Everyone needs a brooder)
Aveline (Pro Tank)
Cullen (He earned my mad respect when playing the game)
Sebastian (He's just there..)
However! If I can have my cake and eat it too by getting to play both, I'd go with
Warden
Hawke
Morrigan
Isabela
Oghren
Varric
Anders
Nathaniel
Zevran

I need someone else to be the two-handed warrior (I always play rogue, dammit). But I don't really like any of the options. Sten is an ass, Oghren is gross and Fenris is so annoying.
Oh, Shale! How could I forget?

Merrill, Anders, and I guess Morrigan
Warrior:
Fenris, Cullen and Cassandra ( I'm guessing that Cassandra is a warrior )
Rogue: ( edit... always mispell it as rouge =) )
Varric, Leliana and Isabella ( you can't have Isabella and Zevran on the same team. It would be far to much fun)

#1 ) Merrill. I like her, her story, her desire to work to restore the Elves. I dig it. Would love to see her at the center of some sort of resurgence.
#2) Sten. I really liked Sten iin DAO.
#3) Isabella. Sort of a Zevran like character, I would like more time with this Party member.
#4) Morrigan. You gotta have her now.
#5) Leliana. She has a digable character.
#6) Arianne. When I met this character, I was bummed she was not in DAO!
I suspect we will see some in DA3, but i expect to see all new characters, vice recurring ones.
