Ariane (Possibly more insight into the Dalish, which I'd prefer to hear from her over Merill. Could take Fenris' spot.) 
Aveline (I also really like her, but her story doesn't need expansion. I assume she rides off into the sunset with Donnic.) 
Sigrun (Needs moar funny dwarf. However, I always assumed she went to the Deep Roads and died after Awakening.) 
Wynne. (I'd like to learn more about her spirit and what she'd say/do about Anders. But I just don't feel like I need her on my team. Assuming she's still kicking, I'll take her as an NPC.)

I'm... torn. There are definitely characters I think need a return, because they have unfinished business. But on the flip side, I was a bit disappointed that the DA2 squad contained so many characters from previous games, when there are so many possibilities out there.

I'd like to see Cassandra and Cullen on the DA3 squad, but they don't count...

So instead of being teammates, these are characters I think need to be involved as NPCs:

• Varric - his relationship with your Hawke could have an interesting effect on his involvement...
• Morrigan - aside from the obvious, some of the epilogue rumors placed her in the Orlesian royal court.
• Sebastian - even more so than Varric, how he and Hawke got along could change his involvement dramatically.
• Leliana - love her or hate her, she's probably a given... would make an interesting temporary party member.
• Tallis - see above.

I'd also like to see cameos of major characters from the novel, Asunder.

Sebastian - even more so than Varric, how he and Hawke got along could change his involvement dramatically.

This is the only character i want to return and for practically the same reason. I would like to see him return as a companion, purely because he has so much potential to evolve.

Sebastian isn't the strongest character in Dragon Age 2, as he's a DLC addition he suffers some constraints that other characters don't, but he has the potential to be possibly one of the greatest characters Bioware have created.

Starkhaven, the Chantry, his past of rebellion, debauchery, grief, pain and betrayal, there's so much untapped potential in his story. And his continual struggle with who he is, who he should become and if he even *can* become that person.. It offers up so much opportunity for character evolution that it's almost untrue.

There's a number of possible out-comes for Sebastian's future (the retaking of Starkhaven and the hunt for Anders to name just two). That offers up a lot of opportunity for Bioware to craft him into something that not only hits us hard in the gut as a first impression, but continues to evolve through-out a game, becoming something utterly unsurpassed by any previous Bioware characters.

Of course, my hopes aren't that high. I'll just be thankful if he doesn't become a cameo.

Let's see...

- Cullen! I really loved him in DA2, would be awesome to get to know him better.
- Cassandra! She looks like she could swing a sword.
- Dworkin the Mad! A tinkering Dwarf with explosives? Bring it on!
- Maraas, the former Tal Vashoth. I spent an hour trying to recruit him in DA2 and was so vexed when that wasn't an option!
- Finn. A different take on a mage than what we've seen and I liked his sense of humor.
-Tallis. Those throwing knives were so sweet.
- Zevran. I really miss having that sassy rogue along!

Well, if I'm just choosing anyone I want . . .!

I'd say Alistair/Anders (as they're my favorites, hands down) but they're both pretty busy raising hell with my Warden/Hawke, so . . .

- NATHANIEL HOWE. Seriously. I cannot beg hard enough.
- Finn. He was great! And funny. Definitely wish he'd reappear.
- Varric. Such a smart, supportive, sarcastic, witty, ridiculously sexy . . . wha? Where was I?
- Carver. Possibly problematic, but still much desired.
- Silas Corthwaite. He was involved with Leliana/the Chantry, and I kinda liked the guy.
- Sigrun. She's just about the cutest thing ever.
- Ariane, especially if she's still with Finn. Their chemistry was great.

I'm noticing an overwhelming number of male companions in my list. Oh well! I guess I'd just have to suffer through it.

If Sarcastic Femhawke isn't the protagonist, I'd laugh madly if she is a companion (and LI, I'll go ahead and say it).

Her snide comments and jokes could make Alistar cry tears in his little pillow.

I'd prefer several new characters, though having a few old ones wouldn't be bad either. A Garrus and Tali situation if you will.

I think the only companions from Origins who could return are Leliana and Shale. Alistair is king, Morrigan will most likely play antagonist, Sten might go Arishok, Wynne is too old, Oghren was already a returning companion in DA:A, Zevran can become the Crow Grandmaster, Loghain is too much of a wild-card (too many people kept Alistair), and Dog has retired.

DA:A - Nathaniel or Sigrun

DA2 - Varric. Everyone else sucks >.<

You can't go without the sacred ashes characters or Alister. The DA 2 charcters wernt as good as the Origins characters but ive got a soft spot for isabela and fenris. And zevrans got a very diverse back story and he likes to party, so i'll take him to.

I guess 7 was the number of companions we could choose so i had to leave out: Arianne, Varric, Nathianel and Wynne

-Leliana: She seems to be building to a really interesting story arc, especially with the events of Dragon Age 2. Plus I like her, she's interesting to talk to.
-Sten: I just want to see more of the Qunari. The changes that have come from DA2 with regard to the Qunari are a great setup for more tension in future titles.
DAA:
-Anders/Justice: If you didn't kill him, he's got an interesting arc that began with going from rights advocate to terrorist.

Dragon Age 2:
-Merill: She's just funny to talk to.
-Varric: As above, plus he's a non-archetypal dwarf and that makes him great.
-Fenris: Just an interesting arc that was very
