So at which stage of the grief cycle are you guys now?

Trying out a lot of mod I missed in the past few months.
After that, I'll think I'll go playing Arkham Asylum and Demon Souls on my PS3. Gotta muster my motivation for that though. I hate playing without mouse and keyboard...
I'll get back to DA2 once it's 'patching/DLCing' life cycle gets to an end. Hoping that import bugs at least are sorted out (they even said they could look at ways to fix issues in DA:O saves with plot flag and romances)

Meh..
DA2 isn't a bad game nor is it a great game.
Its just Mediocre.
That's pretty much my feeling, I'm sort of nuetral at this point. It's nice they fixed some annoying bugs, but even with that, I just don't get excited or attached to the story of the game. Mostly because I feel like it could have been good if they had respected their fanbase of DAO better and hadn't pretty much tossed everything good about DAO out the window with everything else. Don't fix what isn't broken next time. And don't call out your fans for not getting it or failing to understand the developer's great vision as a failure of the fans rather than a failure to execute their plan. Take blame where it's due, don't dump on your loyal fanbase.

Mass Effect: At least... 4 times? Vanguard, Engineer, Adept, Infiltrator.
Mass Effect 2: Engineer, Vanguard, Infiltrator.
Dragon Age: Origins: Twice as Warrior, once as Mage (all of it -- DAO, Awakening, and all the following DLC)
Knights of the Old Republic: Twice light side, once dark side
DA2, though. <.< I got stuck in Act 3 because of the bugs and import errors.
I ended up deleting that save and starting again.
But now I'm just dillydallying around in A1. Not much motivation to go through it until I've read that it's fixed/patched to satisfaction.
Kinda wish I could just skip all treadmill combat in the game and watch the dialogue. That's the only part I like

- I accept that I will not purchase the next Bioware game that interests me without waiting at least a month to read reviews, examine the forums, and wait for the first patches to fix the initial bugs.
- I accept that I might not purchase another Bioware game for the PC. While I find the platform to be wildly superior - I cannot deny the return policy on games is a great advantage for consoles. As an owner of a 360 - I will likely enjoy the next few Bioware games as fast as possible and then return them.
- I accept that gaming might be changing into a form I am not interested in. I will then treat it like movies. Sometimes - I am interested in Blockbuster trash, but watching a movie is currently $10 (or free if I'm patient enough - and I mean legally) - so I tend to be more forgiving. I will only spend money of the DVD/Blue Ray for movies I believe to be quality. Sometimes "entertainment" is enough of a quality - but that's very rare. But $60 for mediocre entertainment? I consider myself far discerning (and possessing less disposable income) than that.

It says a lot about a game´s quality (or rather, lack thereof) that people feel the need to apologize for having enjoyed it.

I love DA2. I really do. For a game developed in such a brief amount of time it's good. But..... it could've been an amazing game had EA not been involved. It's not Bioware's fault. It's EA's. If that makes me a Bioware "fanboy" so be it.
But EA needs to learn from this horrific decision based on their insatiable greed, or Bioware needs to find another big name company to support them that isn't all greedy.
So in terms of grief cycle, it has nothing to do with DA2. Rather it has to do with EA.
I was in denial prior to release thinking EA wouldn't diminish the game.
Now I'm in anger moving on to acceptance.
That being said however, I still immensely love the game. Mainly due to Merrill, Isabella, and Varric. And Act 2. I don't really know how to accurately describe my feelings on the game, so please don't yell at me or anything

Grief is a bit strong for the situation but I guess I have accepted the game is average and too rushed to have been really good. Guess there's nothing to do now except wait for some DLC that will make the story a bit better in the future and some bug fixes to improve the story itself.
I'm kinda the same way I guess. The game can be salvaged through DLC and patches into anywhere ranging from above average to relatively awesome.

I'm in the stage of waiting for a certain group of polish guys to come save the day...
That's my stage as well. Until then, I found a great You Tube video ("Taverne") that sets the mood... looks like betting might no longer be best 2 out of 3, which would be a welcomed change.
As for Bioware, I'm still in for a date end of year most probably. After enjoying both ME1 and ME2 the user reviews would have to be around DA2 level before I might beg off. Simply don't think that will be the case, but I will be keeping a close eye on You Tube interviews.... AND Bioware... if I hear the words "button awesome", the sale gets put off indefinitely!
With DA, I've reach the stage of acceptance. Nothing written convinces me that the team in place can/will make the changes that would be necessary for me personally to enjoy the series.
Edit: Found this recent review very interesting in that the author was rather harsh on DA2:

Let me hack my own thread if you guys would allow me, and ask those who are indeed in the cycle this question:
How can we help things get better? How can we make EA/Bioware understand our point of view. Ranting on this forum will do absolutely nothing in the grand schemes of things (looking forward to having naysayers quote me on this). Regardless if it's a vocal minority or just a majority of apathic people who just moved on after the deception, how can we make our voices heard?
-Send EA emails?
-Call their customer service?
Believe me, I fully realize EA has it's share of guilt in this fiasco, but I also believe that the new direction (Mr Laidlaw being the major culprit) is to blame for this. He's the one who came out with the idea to make everything ''awesome'' and streamlined. As if that wasn't enough, I think we can agree his arrogant attitude towards the fanbase is unfit of the quality of the later, Bioware fans have always been supportive, appreciative and knowledgeable about the market and don't deserve to be treated like fair weather kids who don't know better than to question the absolute truth of his gospel.
I know from being a business grad that the client's voice is ALWAYS important, and the word of mouth of 10 clients with a positive experience will be negated by only one unpleased client. As such, I believe it's completely possible to make our voices heard and change the tangent the company is taking.
If all else fails, then I'm willing to leave this forum and forget about my favorite company from now on. But I'm not yet going down without a fight. I have NEVER, ever written to a game developper before, I've never ranted on any forum about a game before. Then again, a game has never disappointed me so much, it actually feels like a good friend stabbed me in the back.
PS: MrTijger, if all you're going to add to this conversation is calling people nerds or telling us how stupid we are, then please feel free to not post in this particular thread. I assure you, the rest of the forum, heck the rest of the internet is yours for the taking.
We cannot save Bioware from Bioware. They have chosen their path; their business analysists believe that rapid development and shallow games will make them rich in the short term... it's a business decision, that's all. We can't "teach Bioware a lesson" or "set them back on course". What we can do is stop buying their products. A new company will rise to take Bioware's place as King of Quality (and King of RPG). I'm sure there are people out there rubbing hands together, thinking that Bioware's market share will soon be theirs. That's how capitalism works.

been playing call of duty black ops, outrun online arcade on the 360 and left 4 dead 2, crysis 2, oblivion on the pc... need to get back to finishing fallout new vegas as well
i haven't finished my second playthrough of dragon age 2, will probably finish it later and then do a 3rd playthrough as a mage, but i'm having fun enough doing whatever right now... to be honest after dragon age 2 and mass effect 2 arrival dlc i'm kind of burned out talking about bioware for awhile

By the time I get tired of The Witcher 2, Skyrim will be right around the corner and Bioware and this pathetic Dragon Age will be something everyone will just forget.
By the end of the year I look to see Dragon Age 2 on the "greatest hits" shelves going for 20-30 bucks.
Bioware doesn't care about producing great RPGs anymore, they only care about making more money and appealing to crowds of players who don't even like RPGs while totally throwing their old fans and loyal RPG fans under the rug.
