I am in acceptance. Sold the game for 40 bucks so only took a 20 buck loss for playing what I did of it before throwing in the towel. I loved DA:O so much I didn't think DA2 could be as bad as it was, but shows what I know.

You know, I can't get rid of a video game unless there is absolutely nothing I like about the game. It has to be unfathomably, despicably, disgustingly horrible for me to sell it.

good news is, very rarely have I bought a game like that.

I'm in the stage of waiting for a certain group of polish guys to come save the day...

That's my stage as well.   Until then, I found a great You Tube video ("Taverne") that sets the mood... looks like betting might no longer be best 2 out of 3, which would be a welcomed change.

As for Bioware, I'm still in for a date end of year most probably.  After enjoying both ME1 and ME2 the user reviews would have to be around DA2 level before I might beg off.  Simply don't think that will be the case, but I will be keeping a close eye on You Tube interviews.... AND Bioware... if I hear the words "button awesome", the sale gets put off indefinitely!

With DA, I've reach the stage of acceptance.  Nothing written convinces me that the team in place can/will make the changes that would be necessary for me personally to enjoy the series.

Edit:  Found this recent review very interesting in that the author was rather harsh on DA2:

Thanks for that link, damn I hope he's right, it sounds like what I have been looking for.

The only thing I'm sad about is that I have to wait until November before ME3 is out. But I'm sure the DLC for DA2 will help the time pass. But I'm glad that the people that have been kicking and screaming about DA2 seem to have finally punched themselves out.

It says a lot about a game´s quality (or rather, lack thereof) that people feel the need to apologize for having enjoyed it.

It says a lot more about the Bioware social community than it says about the game.

No it doesn´t. There is a lot of criticism for the game, but noone* blames people for liking it in spite of its flaws. Tastes differ.

*Note: The occasional troll not included. But they aren´t representative.

i usually sell off games that i'm just bored of or feel add nothing to my library of titles, regardless of quality

ie: why i kept Too Human but sold off Killzone 2, because TH is at least memorable and somewhat unique despite its badness, if i want more Killzone i'll play call of duty (lol)

It happens with enough frequency to look very representative.  Since the day of DA2's release, those who like it have been stereotyped and insulted by those who don't.  That someone feels the need to apologize or otherwise qualify enjoyment for the game is a direct result of that sort of abuse.  I know you've seen it, because you've been in the center of many of those threads.

I see precious little tolerance for varying tastes around here.

Stage 1. Denial -- "Some people don't like Dragon Age 2, but they are the stupid minority."

Stage 2. Anger -- "ALL THESE COMPLAINTS AND BAD REVIEWS ARE 4CHAN TROLLS, BAN EVERYONE."

Stage 3. Bargaining -- "If you buy DA2, we'll throw in a copy of ME2."

Stage 4. Depression -- ???

Stage 5. Acceptance -- ???

Upon further review, Bioware is on Stage 3: Bargaining.

Stay tuned.

That is sadly true. I think we (referring to the DA2 critics or "haters" here) harm our cause with that sort of thing.

I stand by my point that DA2 is the worst game I ever played, an absolute disgrace to Origins etc....

But still, if someone likes it, that´s ok. I think WoW is sh!t, too, but still millions of people, even some of my RL friends, enjoy it.

You know, SOME PS3 and X360 players are actually intelligent. They just, sadly, seem to be the minority.

Completely false.  I am online all the time on my PS3 MMO, 90% of the players in game are regular people.  I haven't been on XBL tho since XBOX 1

Acceptance. As in, I've accepted never to pre-buy a Bioware game again  .

me too, UNLESS they make Jade Empire 2 and don't add respawning awesome buttons.  Or if Dragon Age goes back to the Baldur's Gate style of being a WRPG instead of wanting ot be Call of Duty Effect Age

The discussion of DA2 (and damned near everything else on the internet) suffers from the inability of people to recognize that their tastes don't define quality.  There are some things that are pretty much universally recognizable as slipshod workmanship (like the endless recycling of the same scenery, for example), but there are a lot of people who have decided what they're used to is the One True Way.

As a corollary, I'd say that any game developer needs to be wary of this sort of fan.  Designing a game directly to their tastes will tend to limit the general interest in the game.  The section of a fanbase that has a misplaced sense of ownership may be a reliable (if relatively modest) source of income, but it can also turn on you like a rabid doberman.

I really got sucked into the fantasy. I read both the books and absolutely fell in love with Dragon Age. I think i'm about to go into depressed phase. I loved it. especially the baldur's style combat with the overtop optional view. They could have made the whole game that way and it would have still been just as awesome. But it being just an option made it that much cooler. I even liked the little things like the character selection screen and how they'd move and react to you picking them or not. I guess they thought that kinda stuff would put their new social experiment groups off?

Abo****ely! The only good way to develop art is to pander to the mass market!   Every video game should be designed to attract Justin Bieber fans, because anything else is "modest".

Why be modest when you can sell Zhu Zhu pets to trailer trash?

I pressed the ABSOLUTELY AWESOME button by mistake, it was right next to the "want awesome blood" button which is too close to the "lulz sexxy" button ;)
