I never grieved in the first pace. <3

This, exactly. Bioware is a company which is a subsidiary of a larger company. Dragon Age 1, 2 and probably 3 are games.

I've enjoyed the games Bioware has produced for the most part. I don't wish anyone involved with them ill. I hope they will continue to produce games I will enjoy playing.

The quality of my life is not dependent upon anything with which Bioware, EA or any of their constituent parts are involved.

Hope that helps.

I appreciate the sense of perspective. Image IPB

And there are a lot of things that I don't like about DA2 that I knew before I bought it I would not like.
But it failed beyond those things, for me, by failing with the story and with the implementation of that story.

So it has been a lot of fun to come here and complain. Image IPB
I am somewhere between anger and acceptance. I keep coming back to check the Motivational posters thread.

I can't wait until BioWare's Acceptance stage. They're going to announce DA3, and all of its selling points will be them bashing how terrible DA2 was, and how DA3 is going to fix all of DA2's mistakes. (Hint: They're going to fix all of those mistakes by making DA3 just like DAO.)

I'm pretty sad that the guys who made bg2, nwn, kotor seem to be going a direction that I have no interest in. Sure the witcher 2 and skyrim are looking good. But only bioware do party based story rpgs and da2 was a complete miss for me.

I'll miss the excitement I've always had leading up to a new bioware game.

I am still sitting in the anger phase. I am hoping another game will come along soon to take the pain away. Only then do I think I will hit the acceptance phase. Acceptance that Bioware might never be the same. Well, maybe when I stop checking and posting on these forums I will have reached the acceptance phase. Actually I may be hitting denial after the anger phase. Great I am so distraught about DA2 and Bioware's laziness I am in a state of confusion in regards to my feelings. Bioware has helped create a new medical excuse, PDA2SD.

I think the grief cycle applies to both players and devs alike.

I hope the DA team and leadership have gone through or are going through this while doing a post mortem. With all the rosy marketing speak and glowing chat about how awesome the game was going to be, they need to read feedback and come to accept that what they put so much of themselves into didn't work out the way they'd hoped.

As far as myself, sure, I've gone through it.

1. After I heard the announcement, I was sure it woudln't be as bad as it sounded.
2. By the gods, they really going in that direction...on purpose! Argh!
3. Well, they have the same writing team so it won't be all bad. I hope they can make up for the poor gameplay.
4. Looks like I was wrong. They tried but it wasn't enough. /sigh
5. DA2 is just not a good game. I guess all I can do is try to say where I think they veered off course, hope they own their mistakes and make a good game next time. If not, I guess I'll have to find somewhere else to play a new rpg in the future.

You know, denial, anger, acceptance.

I know a lot of you guys were in the Denial phase before the game came out (look at all those funny necroposts!) and after the first few weeks, then I've seen a lot of you join me in the Anger phase. Some are even in the Bargaining phase, no wait thats Bioware giving free games for this one...Do you guys think we'll reach acceptance soon, that Bioware is a necrotized zombie and the RPG legacy they championed during their life is gone? If we support each other we can get through that Depression stage before the Acceptance without destroying our lives...I believe in us.

Age of Decadence
Dead State

RPGs are not at all dead,  and interestingly,  they manage to be more innovative than "AAA" developers.  One's a setting where the Roman Empire never died,  the other one is a Zombie Apocalypse RPG.  It'll be a good year for RPG Players.

Dead State sounds awesome. It could be an 8-bit RPG Maker product and Zombie + RPG = Awesome. Going to check into it now.

"Can't wait to try it with a different class." Despite all the bugs, flaws, and questionable third act events, this game is crazy addictive. A good combat engine and good characters will always bring me back for more. Yeah, it could have been a lot better with more polish, but the core of the game is really good.

Coming off the anger train.
I've just accepted that the Dragon Age team (Mass Effect sounds like its getting its head together again) is either a lazy bunch of incompetent mooks, or that the Lead Designers didn't have the balls to say "No" to EA's unreasonable limitations.

Personally, I don't think the wonderful team behind DAo is gone.
So, I suspect the problem lies with the Leads, Publishers and the religious following of Metrics driven design.

To sum my thoughts up in game terms, I found myself relating with the Qunari's Arishok.
I hated Kirkwall and just wanted to leave. I did not like the city or its people. I did not connect.
No amount of "Button-Awesome" could fix that.

Nah. Laidlaw (jade empire, DA2 lead) was sad he didn't get to do a JE2, so we got Dragon Empire 2 instead.

Oh is that why he seems to be not so fond of DAO?  It was just this impression I got, always subject to being wrong. But it seemed to be he didn't and that he got stuck on it at the very end when it was mostly finished.

Its the first Bioware game I have not replayed, as I don't think I can grind through it again!

Don't think I'll be preordering on the next one unless big changes are made.

I've got a pre-order on ME3 so thats Biowares last chance for me..

And this, unfortunately.  I watched hubby's playthrough on a aggressive/ snarky mage..he only had one thing different than I had (I play a snarky/friendly character). There really isn't much choice (well you can kill an entire group of <spoiler> or not, or a certain <spoiler> <spoiler:> or not, or certain <spoiler> could <spoiler> and never come back depending on your dialogue wheel choices (why do I hear beeps when I type spoiler? LOL). There weren't a lot of differences that I could find.

I´m at the "uninstalled before finishing" phase, just watching the forum implode, it reminds me of Deus Ex 2, for a while after release it was funnier to check the forum than to play the game, it´s the same with DA2...

So, since you think 'thirties' is old, you must be, what, twelve? The average gamer age is 32.

So, your mummy allowed you to play all those M17 games?

Man some of you guys must have be living WAY better than me when one of the things that ****** you off the most and seems to occupy most of you time is how much you hate a video game and the time you spend ranting and raving on forums like spoiled children throwing tantrums to get mommy and daddy's attention. When I get that concerned about  something it's usually something major like maintaining my household or some grave injustice in the world or family concerns etc. It must be nice........PS. Bioware and EA hear everything you naysayers rant about, but they probably don't care.  They're going to keep moving right ahead with the franchise and most likely none of you will be happy with where they're going. Your words are falling on deaf ears.

Yet here you are, whining about people complaining about a video game. And here i thought your time was so much more important and that you'd be bothered by much more important things. Oh well.

Wow, denigrating others while maintaining a "holier than thou" cuz I focus on the world's problems while you all are a bunch of whining losers while still managing to post a whining ****ing nag for yourself.  You win! I would pin a medal on your chest or a gold star on your forehead. Nicely done! *golf clap*

As to worrying about other things...well lets just say if your job is talking to people who are just diagnosed, their loved ones, or those dying from cancer like I do...****ing on a forum about a game that was supposed to help me escape that for a while and failed, is something I think I should be allowed to do, regardless of what you think of my ****ing and moaning.
