I'm at the cupcake stage, definitely. Which is, "Few things are all that bad when you have cupcakes."

To use the baseball analogy, it's like the Giants. Once upon a time, they were the best. Then they went through a long period of being awful. Recently, they had a brilliant season, ending with winning the World Series. While it's way too soon to tell, though, the early indicators for this year aren't so good.

I'm at the acceptance/apathy stage: at least now I have an excuse to buy the Ultimate Edition for the PC. But then oh yeah! the Origins servers are messed up, and have been all weekend, so looks like its back to anger. Oh well.

I'm only grieving about the ~ 56.00 euros I spent. I'm not over that one yet, because everytime I see a sweet pair of shoes, my heart breaks - mostly because I have to tell myself "No! Your play-around money is already spent! Move along!"

My "angry" stage was saying to myself: "You idiot! You are an adult, are you not? What on earth made you run out and blindly buy something? You deserve what you got, silly Sabriana! I hope you learned your expensive lesson!"

As for a baseball analogy, I don't have one. Mainly because we don't play that around here. I have family over there, in the Maryland area, and they are Orioles fans. The only thing I can gather from their Orioles baseball stories is that the main objective of O's fans is:

a) hate the Yankees

B) hate the Yankees some moar

c) whine about the Orioles owner

d) whine about the Orioles owner some moar.

Anger. I'm waiting to see what else happens before I hit acceptance, which is probably when I stop caring completely.

I'm at the I'm-not-playing-DA2-anymore (but not uninstalling it yet since I have lots of space anyway) and re-installing other games and waiting for The Witcher 2 (and hoping that it is, unlike DA2, an improvement, overall, over the first game) stage.

I'm at the "Moved on but come back every other day or so to laugh at the nerds who are still here everyday for hours crying about something they have no real stake in except a misplaced emotional attachment" stage.

I'm currently at the "I moved on from that lying and cheating ****" phase. Though I do grieve when I see any other game that supposedly handles well wondering why I never gave that a chance instead...

There are stages? I've just been writing what I think without thinking of any stages.

  • Denial — "I feel fine."; "This can't be happening, not to me."

Denial is usually only a temporary defense for the individual. This
feeling is generally replaced with heightened awareness of positions and
individuals that will be left behind after death.
  • Anger — "Why me? It's not fair!"; "How can this happen to me?"; '"Who is to blame?"

Once in the second stage, the individual recognizes that denial cannot
continue. Because of anger, the person is very difficult to care for due
to misplaced feelings of rage and envy. Any individual that symbolizes
life or energy is subject to projected resentment and jealousy.
  • Bargaining
    — "Just let me live to see my children graduate."; "I'll do anything
for a few more years."; "I will give my life savings if..."

The third stage involves the hope that the individual can somehow
postpone or delay death. Usually, the negotiation for an extended life
is made with a higher power in exchange for a reformed lifestyle.
Psychologically, the individual is saying, "I understand I will die, but
if I could just have more time..."
  • Depression — "I'm so sad, why bother with anything?"; "I'm going to die... What's the point?"; "I miss my loved one, why go on?"

During the fourth stage, the dying person begins to understand the
certainty of death. Because of this, the individual may become silent,
refuse visitors and spend much of the time crying and grieving. This
process allows the dying person to disconnect from things of love and
affection. It is not recommended to attempt to cheer up an individual
who is in this stage. It is an important time for grieving that must be
    processed.
  • Acceptance — "It's going to be okay."; "I can't fight it, I may as well prepare for it."

In this last stage, the individual begins to come to terms with his mortality or that of his loved one.

From the wiki, probably on 4 with DA2 ~

Apparently, I'm in denial, because I'm still quite happy.

We could make a Cricket analogy, but unfortunately I lack any credible knowledge of the sport, but as a Red Sox fan, I can actually agree with A, B, C and D....cause the Orioles are kinda bad.

Grief Cycle? Isn't that a bit melodramatic? Even if it's not a classic, DA2 is still a great game. I had fun while playing it, and I am looking forward to DA3. As far as I'm concerned, the biggest problem DA2 has is the recycled environments. Remove this problem and I would have loved this game. As it stands, it feels like a Mod. The greatest mod I have ever played, but still a mod.

i dont think its too melodramatic, because as people we are prone to going through the same routines of handling issues.

however, i dont think its quite accurate in this case, as much of this forum representation are simply no life trolls with nothing better to do than sit here multiple hours a day and hate-monger while they sip their coffee, tea, or what have you.

Am I pathetic? Or is xbg pathetic? And maybe you could tell him/me/us why he/I/we are pathetic. That way a discussion could begin.

Heh, these forums are full of melodrama, its so far out there that I now consider it to be a joke, I mean, would you take anything serious that people say who claim to be in a grief cycle over a game?

The game was good but didnt fulfill its promise, next time better.

The 2004 team and the 2011 team were both built using metric - very similar metrics.  Theo Epstein hasn't changed that much.

You're just drawing some really poor conclusions based on a small sample size of 2011 data.

No Sylvius, you are incorrect.  I am not "drawing poor conclusions"  I am basing my opinion on the facts about which players were signed by which GM.

Manny was a Dan Duke signing.  Pedro was a Dan Duke signing, etc...

Theo has gotten rid of the Dan Duke players and has his "own" players like $100 million worth of Dice K :o:o:o  and JD Drew, and Satchy etc...

The 2011 Red Sucks are Theo's team (98% of them)

Statistically, they can still win the world series.  But if you actually WATCH them play,:sick::sick::sick::sick::sick:

the '10 Red Sox had a record good enough to be in the playoffs outside the AL east.  But they were still incredibly boring and horrible to watch.

Throughout MLB, attendance correlates extremely well with the previous season's winning percentage.  Fans might say they think the games are boring, but if the team wins they'll come to the games next year.  No matter how the team wins.

I'm gonna go ahead and guess, you don't even watch sports do you?

Johnny Damon is simply  more fun to watch than any player on the Red Sox right now.  As Manny used to be, as Pedro used to be etc...

Ever watch JD Drew play?  He's boring.  It's not a stats thing.  Manny used to go take a pee in the green monster, or run out to play LF with a water bottle in his pocket.

THOSE ARE LULZ!  If you can't understand LULZ, we can no longer date.

Tim Duncan is another example.  Great player, but B O R I N G boring to watch play.
Scalabrine, horrible player, but a TON of fun to watch.

Yes, it's very Hellboy the movie.  It's not bad, has some pretty parts, but in the end, it's water off a ducks ass.
