So how did you feel after finishing the game?

Everything is on average but the environment need more improvement. They use same map over and over again so clearly they rush the product at some points. And this is the biggest dumb down in DA2. Story isn't that bad at all but the ending is not good.

I don't know how Pearl Harbor concluded its various characters' stories. I got bored and stopped watching at some point.
With
Star Wars it's more of a, defeat the symbol of the evil empire, it's
not really that dreary unless you really think about the implications of
the amount of residents the Death Star could hold and wonder if maybe
some of them were good people. DA2 though, it's really dreary. Neither
side "wins," everyone just goes crazy and dies around Hawke and then he
just walks away. I guess it's not really similar to the atom bomb thing
except all of the dreariness and death.
I've actually never even seen Pearl Harbor... but I was assuming, based on its title, that at the end, the battle of Pearl Harbor is over. And there's an entire war left to fight. But no one complained about how it didn't have a conclusive ending.
Over one million people on the Death Star. 95% of whom were just doing their jobs. And, again, there's still an entire war left to fight.

Really? Isabela was always far and away the highest DPS in my groups.
I don't mean in terms of performance. I mean that playing a rogue was the least fun I've had since playing a non-mage in Origins. I hated it with such a passion.

Well, nobody was exactly on the edge of their seat dying to know what happens next, because it's kind of a foregone conclusion.
Spoilers: the US wins the war.

You don't like kiting and running away until your mark of death and assassinate/twin fangs are up?

Well Pearl Harbor the movie ended with the Doolittle Raid, I dunno if people complained about how it ended specifically but people did complain about it. Probably because of Ben Affleck.
And Star Wars... yeah, but they had that big celebration at the end.
And I doubt they really intended people to think about all of the innocents dying aboard the Death Star, whereas DA2 is pretty in your face about all of the needless death and crazy. I didn't say it wasn't conclusive, just that the conclusion was unsettling.

I must have raged on these boards for two whole weeks. Now? It's still a disappointing ending but I've come to terms with that. I'm no longer angry at the ending, it's just...meh.

It's an alright movie. I think the thing that really saves that flick is the fantastic cast.
The movie steps down in quality after the whole Achelies vs Hector fight because we're down a great cast member. But it's a decent enough of a movie. I don't own it but I'll usually watch it if it's on a movie channel.
And KoP hits the nail on the head in that OP in that other thread.

Ben Affleck gets such a bad rap. He's actually kind of cool.
And Star Wars... yeah, but they had that big celebration at the end.
Yes, the celebration of celebrations following a terrorist act that resulted in a slaughter five times greater than the atomic bombs. And these are the good guys. The bad guys blew up a whole planet.
And I doubt they really intended people to think about all of the innocents dying aboard the Death Star, whereas DA2 is pretty in your face about all of the needless death and crazy. I didn't say it wasn't conclusive, just that the conclusion was unsettling.
DON'T LIE THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT YOU SAID.
But I agree that it's unsettling. I think it's intended to be. I get that that doesn't sit well with a lot of people, it's kind of like The Empire Strikes Back. It's a pretty down ending. Some good people are dead and everything's gone to hell.
I disagree that this is to make players ready for DAIII. It wasn't a cliffhanger to bring us back for more. The world in Origins was stable(ish). The world in DAIII is going to be ugly and violent. You think people are complaing now? Imagine the complaints if the story of how A became B was told in a two minute intro cinematic.
The point of DAII was to let us understand just how everything's gotten so ****ed-up. We're Hawke. We're really an observer, the captain of a ship that's sailing unerringly into Oblivion.
OMZ. Guise. I just realized... DAII is an art game

I think this is kinda true, or as true as triple A RPG titles get to being art house. Actually, that's not the right word. DA2 reminds me of a cable mini or ongoing series like Spartacus, the Wire, The Shield and the like. Often slow moving, gradual reveal of plot lines, bleak and depressing, but to me more rewarding that a summer blockbuster like DAO or ME2.
PS. Ishmael - loved your work prior to release... they were all bi!

This ending didn't feel like an end, obviously. The Warden's did. (wrap up 'rumors' aside) This one feels like the first part in a movie series. (like seeing baby Kirk/McCoy/Spock heading off)
I cared enough about my wardens, though, to hope they figure in somehow.

Oh, I did. I'm in the middle of my fifth playthrough now.
I love this game so much that I need to hold it tight. I now have my romance perfected. First, flirt with Anders and Fenris. (And Aveline whenever I get the chance) and then I sleep with Fenris. Then I get dumped by Fenris. Then I run crying to Anders, who consoles me. Then Anders breaks my heart. Then I throw caution to the wind and run away with him.

Honestly, I felt as if this game was developed as a money-grab right from the start. The ending proves it (Buy the brand new DLC which contains the REAL conclusion of Hawke's story, only 10$!)
