So how did you feel after finishing the game?

Goddamn it Anders. This is why we can't have nice things.
Seemed kind of abrupt though. I was surprised at how short the epilogue was, and how much it left out. I guess there didn't really leave more to be said though. Where you went, who you ran off with, etc.

I went through my first run in a romance with Anders. I never saw his betrayal coming, and I have to say it hit like a punch to the gut. That's strong writing that can produce such an emotional reaction.
For some reason, "strong writing" always boils down to seeing a character you're attached to either dying tragically or betraying you in the end. There must be other ways to evoke strong emotional responses.

*Credits*
"Wait... what? That's it? ..... But... Oh well. I won't be missing that combat anymore..."
*At the fridge*
"Wait a minute! If Hawke is supposed to be the most influential person in TheDAS... why wasn't he able to do ANYTHING and why did all of his actions amount to piddly? Aren't influential people supposed to... I don't know, influence things?"
That was almost verbatim what I was thinking. I loved the plot for DA2... but I still don't buy any of that garbage that Hawke was more influential to TheDAS than the Warden... The Warden decided who would rule of TWO sovereign nations!? And much, much more... Hawke... Was there when other people found an idol... which set of a chain of events that allowed for the Circles and the Templars to both break away from the Chantry... Hawke was there when Isabella inadvertently started a Qunari uprising in Kirkwall... Hawke was there on the sidelines for one of the biggest changes to TheDAS's culture... but Hawke didn't influence nothing and nobody.

This is some of the worst writing and plot scenarios i've seen in a BioWare game. Yet.
For example: *picks warrior Hawke* 5 minutes later...
Leandra: Say, Carver. Don't you think we have too much melee in the party *wink, wink*
Carver: What?! But... *sigh* Fine
*Ogre proceeds curbstomping Carver*
5 minutes later, again...
Leandra: Oh Carver! My poor, sweet boy, who i've practically known since the intro of this game. Damn you all to HELLLL!

I felt kinda... "meh".
The game never really built up to anything. It was just business as usual the whole time and then Anders comes out of the blue and sets off a bomb. All of which would have turnedout the same regardless of any other quests you did beforehand. Act 3 seemed shorter than the others with less main plot involvement. Personally I preferred the qunari plot so the game actually went backwards in terms of my interest towards the end. I had no real personal arch nemesis kinda beef with Meredith (or Orsino) so that final fight isn't very climatic. The lack of credit music putting the final nail in the "meh" coffin. Meh!

for some reason if the game "ended" at Act 2 I would have felt good about the game but complained it was short. The Arishok and Qunari plot was really interesting and challenged beliefs. The mage and Templar "debate" was tiresome, if I was Hawke I would have walked away from that mess and moved to Starkhaven.

Picard sums it up nicely for me here.
I liked Act 2 and would have gladly teamed up with the Arishok to waltz over the most bland city in gaming history...instead I had to kill him. Meh. Then in act 3 I got railroaded into problems I didn't give a rats ass about and also couldn't change in the slightest...no matter what I did before. And the final straw on my nerves was the first enchanter loltrolling me with "WE R WINNING! LETZ GETZ BLOODMAGEZ!!! LOLOLOLOLOLOL" and the absolute ridiculous anime/JRPG-fight with "IMA SOOO EVIIIIL, MUAHAHAHAHAR" Meredith and her light-saber of righteousness/ fighting statues.
After minutes I spend in laughing tears about the cheapness of all that and as my fit of laughter finally did abide...I was able to finish her off, just to end with an "INSERT COIN TO CONTINUE ADVENTURE" screen.
Ffffffffffff... WTH, Bioware?

Not even a debate really. Both are some what irredeemable. Meredith is a tyrant and seemingly every mage is an abomination or a bloodmage.

I will say that the gameplay and story get better the more you play... the first time I completed it, I had a lot of questions and criticism, but some of that has faded (fighting Orsino on a mage run will never make sense to me). As far as this game's right to be called an rpg? Sure, why not? The game is just kind of a lesser version of Mass Effect. Nothing wrong with that, especially if they improve on the formula when they make DA3.

It ends in worldwide war no matter what you do. That's what you call going well? Low expectations...
