I've had a lot of my friends tell me that liked playing
Origins more than Dragon age 2. I have both games, but i want to compare these
games myself to see which takes home the gold (this is strictly personal
opinion and what i like may be different then what others may like). I plan to
compare as much on the games as possible.

My plan is to play each game for four hours each (on the
days I have off from work of course so this may take a while to completely
finish.) and compare the games as I go along. I want to start each game with a
new character so each game is being studied from the beginning to end. I want
to play each game with the same class-like my first test plan is to start both
games with mages, then rogues, then finish with the warriors.

Some of the things that I plan to compare are the graphs,
gameplay for each class and gameplay in general, story, characters, etc...

I thought this might be a good idea, I know a lot of people
who ask me which they should buy or what makes one game better than the other.
I personal adore both games and I feel that each game has its own strengths and
weaknesses. That being said even though this is in a sense a very in-depth
personal observation, I want to make this as un-bias as possible. No fangirl
love during these playthroughs. If I see something that i feel should be
expressed in this little "experiment" of mine then I will post about
it, good or bad.

Now if someone else has already done this then I would like
to know, don't want to go through all the work to do this only to find out
someone did it already like three months ago...

If anyone has any questions, then please feel free to ask. I
may not response right away, cause of life and what not, but I do plan to
answer what questions I can.

It sounds like an interesting experiment, but if you haven't played DA:O already, I'd advise playing it through first. I think to do otherwise will lessen your enjoyment of the game in terms of involvement and immersion, and leave you playing DA2 in a game world that you don't really know. You don't HAVE to know it to play DA2, but it will add a lot, expecially in terms of character interaction. It would also be good to have an end game save to import into DA2

Sounds like a good idea! Only problem I can see is that you'll finish DA:2 before Origins, which will probably bias you slightly towards Origins, as you'll still be playing the finale in Origins, which will probably leave you with a better impression.

Not that any bias would be needed :)

Some thoughts: What difficulty will you be playing on?

It might be a good idea to play on a higher difficulty as this is where you can find stresses in the gameplay. Are the mechanics challenging or ridiculously unfair? How forgiving is the game of unconventional character builds? Are there quests that are uncompleteable without a specific level or build. Are there dead ends where you must regress saves because you cannot progress.
Is playing the game at this difficulty entertaining or frustrating and why?

What system will you be playing on? From what I recall origins of was PC gamer's Rpg of the decade, and it rated at best a good game on console. Bioware seemed more conscious of console mechanics for DA2. This choice will have an impact on your perspective and should be clearly outlined so that the context of your review is clear.

It would be very helpful to try and sync up highlight/boss encounters as well as enemy types. How does the game handle iconic encounters like the first ogre? The High Dragons? How does each game handle other elite enemies. What monsters terrify you and which monsters do you feel safe ignoring?
