Inventory icons look OK in toolset but are broken in-game.

Does anyone have ideas on what could cause this? I did a search on the topic and the only suggestion I could find was that the filenames were inappropriately capitalized. Which, I checked, and that isn't the issue.

These are not my icons by the way, the problem is with Feanor's Medieval Armory, but it doesn't look like the uploader is going to fix this, so....

Could you be a bit more specific? Broken how? Are they upside down? The icon before it shows up instead? The back grounds are not transparent? Some other strange thing?

Sorry.. what happens is that instead of appearing as they do in the toolset, you get whatever inventory icon you would get for that combination of weapon parts if no hak was installed.. icons from the OC, since the weapon parts in question are going into slots that were already used.

After checking more carefully, I note that all of the weapons in this hak where the icons actually work correctly, are given parts numbers outside the range used by the original game. This is almost certainly not a coincidence but I don't know what it means. Opening up the BIFs in nwviewer, the original inventory icons have the same capitalization as the ones in the hak, so that has nothing to do with anything.

I tried renumbering a set of parts to outside of the range the OC uses and all of a sudden it works correctly. Googling around I think you just plain can't overwrite any of the default inventory icons?

Anyway, my problem now is how to renumber dozens of models in an expedient fashion...

Heya jhudsui,

I've overwritten icons (various misc mediums etc) before using a hak. Though I'm not sure if I have done that with weapon parts. *scratches head*

If you go forward with the rename game, here is a great tool to speed up the task:
