Jacob's romance was terrible on every concievable level. From early flirting (I'm surprised no lawsuits were filed) to that really awkward sex scene. I felt really bad for Jacob. He deserved better. I felt worse for the player who had to sit through it.  Even showing more skin didn't help it. I thought Miranda's scene was just tacky, but some people seemed to like it. I couldn't figure out why the two people with personal cabins on the Normandy couldn't 'get a room.'

But Garrus, Thane and the Jack sequences were handled fine in my opinion.

American double standards when it comes to violence and sex is always good for a laugh and a facepalm or two. That being said, this version of the TW2 will probably only be for the eu market. The original Witcher shipped for the US market was censored as well, I'm not expecting this one to be any different.

Nudity, even a hint of a side boob = AO and special media debates and 'programs' about how decadent and perverse video games are.

I started playing rpg's back in the early 80's and sex was basically a taboo subject in pen and paper games, and to me it seemed crazy we could massacre and hack our way through crowds of monsters come back to town cover in 2 tones of internal organs, but if you walked into the inn and said sex, it was worse than any black clad staff holding ring wearing magic wielding madman that wanted to conquer and slaughter all living creatures.

In my games i was the first to introduce any form of relationships including sexual encounters even red lantern ladies. And to then start playing computer games, it was refreshing to see games like dragon age and mass effect even witcher have relationships, some which led to sexual intercourse, if you so chose that course, im an adult and my head isnt going to explode because theres sex in a computer game.

And its pathetic to think that they are exposing kids to sex, they can go to google or yahoo or any other search engine right now type in anything go to images and see alot more explicit images than a rendered animated sex scene, which isnt even interactive, its just a cut scene. If people want nice clean video games go buy a console, get a game that has massively pixellated characters, crappy midi sounds, and jump and bounce from mushrooms and islands and throw barrels.

It won't happen unless Bioware takes the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 route, in which before even starting the game the whole "adult advisory, explicit (and in this case, extreme sexual) content yada yada yada, show or don't show" prompts

There's no way an American game would get scenes like that. It would get rated AO and some retailers wouldn't carry it. I doubt the Witcher 2 will have those in the American release, although we might get a patch at some point.

Hey I have an idea. Instead of showing sex scenes to innocent young adults under eighteen who've probably never had sex before (going for realism here), why don't we have a nice schoolteacher talk to them about the birds and the bees.

Well...<3 and waiting to upgrade myself possibly Witcher 2 or The Old Republic still not sure.

@trixyblueeyes Sadly true. Especially when a game like God of War which is more popular has a minigame which is 2 one dimensional women all naked, wet, and ready to please Kratos by rapidly pressing a button or circling the analog stick. Yea an rpg which tries to make it apart of a story and takes out all of the eroitic parts and make it more sentimental gets alot of negative attention by the worst news station ever. Seriously what the hell is wrong with Fox?

personally feel just to remove romance from games. No one is ever 100% satisfied with how they turn out and who or what they can romance. If I want to watch a sex scene, I'll google it. I don't understand why it's "important" in a game. I really don't.

They're very important. Sex and violence dude, they go hand in hand. Except in Prude Country where people scream murder if there's a hint of a boob in sight.

Well other then the fact content would be lost it's a roleplaying game. We're roleplaying how would we act. I don't know about you but if met a real life Merrill...I'd have to chase her

Besides that Bioware has had them in since they first started they wouldn't simplying take them out. Also like I said in my post. the romance adds to the story. Maybe not to the main plot but it helps to understand your companions better. You learn Isabella isn't the free spirited pirate she always tries to be. Merrill shows she can't do everything on her own and needs someone to just keep things simple. Anders has someone else inside him and is scared and deseperate and shares all his problems to Hawke.

Romances just add to the game. They're optional no need to do them but most people do want them imo.

I thought the ME1 sex scene was very tasteful, intimate and sensual but without being potentially offensive in any sort of way (then again, I have breasts myself, so side boob really doesn't shock me). I really wish that BW would go back to that standard.

One huge thing that's always surprised me about the DAO sex scenes, beyond the absolute hideousness of everyone's underwear, is that they actually seemed *more* explicit than ME1; in the Alistair/Warden scene, for example, there's a moment where he lowers himself down onto her, and then a shot of their faces which seems to heavily imply that's the moment of penetration being depicted - I'd expect prudish sorts to have a bigger problem with that than the infamous alien side boob.

Fen striding in front of the fire in full armor more had to due with them not having the time/budget to make a whole new model for him shirtless with those tats--I believe it was David Gaider who said it in one of the Fenris threads, if someone wants to find it.

But yeah, I thought the sex scenes in DA 2 were handled much better than DAO simply because the boobs don't look retarded anymore (everytime my lady warden would get it on, I'd pray for the bug that kept your armor on x.x ). But yeah, the Fenris/Anders kiss scenes were super sexy.

And IMO, buying a game just because it has boobies is silly. Because romance scenes should be <i>supplemental</i> to the overarching plot, not the main attraction. Because honestly, if softcore pr0n's what you're after grab the second season of True Blood for half the price of a new game--that has a full on softcore orgy and everything.

And let's not forget, adding in boobies and naughty bits is what modders are for ;x

One, I hate that show.
Two, that's ignorant and like saying Bioware should worse with each game they come out don't you think? Mass Effect 1 was fine not great but not bad. Origins were bad and DA2 probably worse since it's just dry humping with clothes on.

This. Mass Effect 1 got it so right it was unreal, and yet, they have never duplicated that style since. Begs the question as to what the hell is going on up at Bioware as the romance scenes are just getting worse and worse.

meh - I actually liked how the sex scenes were done in DAO. I'm planning another playthrough soon, so I'll look at them more critically.

I didn't mind the Isabela/Hawke (female) sex scene - I thought it was appropriate and sexy. The one with Merrill was pretty lackluster both with female and male Hawke.
