That would be an interesting twist on things.Mac100 wrote...
Vampires could exist as Templar weapons, kept under lock and key in a keeps dungeon only to be used against powerful blood mages. Not having any living blood of there own should make them immune to blood magic or i could be wrong.

Will we ever see Vampirism in the Dragon Age Franchise, would you want it in there? In origins we experienced a sub-plot based around Werewolves, and Hawke was originally suggested to be a lycanthrope so it got me thinking, what about Vampires? Im not thinking the whole Twilight crap but traditional Dracula based Vampires i'm thinking would be cool. Would you like seeing Vampires in a future installement in the Dragon Age Franchise?
Thedas seems to have just gotten their hands on Gunpowder so i'm guessing they are in their equivilent of 13th century europe, 200 years off Vlad III (Dracula) but heck by their calender they are approaching their 1st Millenium so mirrored timelines aint a big deal =D
Anyways thoughts, opinions?
The Reaver specialization takes some ideas from Vampires, since they drink blood and all. That said, we also have Werewolves in Thedas so I can see Vampires being in there maybe. Especially if as a previous poster said they were Templar Secret Weapons.

Personally, I hope not. I'm kind of sick of Vampires with all their appearances in recent media. If anything, it'd be cool to see something like the Magistrate's Orders in which the guy thinks he's a vampire but he's really just crazy. To fool the player at first into thinking there were Vampires.
As for hunger demons, I agree with the first poster that it feels more like cannibalism than vampirism.
I dunno... as long as a clove of garlic doesn't become an usable item lol
EDIT: typo

Where would the concept of vampires come from for him? They have people that use blood as energy, demons that suck life to replenish their own. Making up a story about an undead dude that sucks blood seems pretty tame.

I think Vampirism itself shouldn't be in the game, especially with the current media's interpretation of the vampire (Twilight/True blood etc), I wouldn't mind seeing a bay like creature, something similar to what Bram Stoker's Dracula turned into or something of the lines of 'A' Nosferatu.
The Nosferatu vampire class derives from Nosferatu 1920 film, Count Orlok being Nosferatu. When people dont put an 'A' before the word its because they are normally referring to the film and Count Orlok and the general image that he has that being the basis for Vampire class Nosferatu.

Idk, I quite like my idea about the guardians of Arlathan or the Ancient Dwarven Balrog based mysterious creature

Which is funny because the only reason for the name changes is because the studio couldn't get the rights for Stoker's novel.

Vampires probably wouldn't break my immersion more than all these I mentioned before though. I mean it is a fantasy setting and there be fantasy creatures who all have been used in some fantasy literature somewhere before. Big deal.

Vampires do exist in the world, as Hunger Demons possessing the living if not the sparkly, romantic kind.
Although, quite frankly, I'd almost be tempted to make them so -- if only to spite the elitist, anti-Twilight crowd. But that would probably be petty.

Not necessarily in DA, but I would totally be sold to it.

Cue meeting a young vampire in the game with his hands placed across his chest who complains, "you can't see me, I'm obfuscating!"

Should totally use my idea of the whole Arlathan Guardians or the ancient evil Balrog like concept that I talked about earlier in the thread. C'mon you know you want to =P

I enjoyed the Vampire the Masquerade universe especially the lore (Diablorie etc), but Twilight just didn't do it for me, and it's spread into the current vampire "image".
Atleast VtM established the different bloodlines/clans with each bearing some sort of racial gift, while we still had the good ol' Dracula esque 13 or so Ancient vampires.
