Vampires do exist in the world, as Hunger Demons possessing the living if not the sparkly, romantic kind.
Although, quite frankly, I'd almost be tempted to make them so -- if only to spite the elitist, anti-Twilight crowd. But that would probably be petty.
P.S. I know you're just kidding.
Is he kidding? Or is that just wishful thinking on your part? =P

They have always been kind of lame with their allergy against sunlight, garlic and holy water. Only people were always stupid enough to try to hunt them at night with insufficient supply of garlic and holy water.Beerfish wrote...
I hope one day, sometime in the future Vampires once again become the scary evil critters they once were.

Cue meeting a young vampire in the game with his hands placed across his chest who complains, "you can't see me, I'm obfuscating!"
Well, since I had not played Golems and didn't see the Harvester before, the first thing I thought of when I saw Orsino transform was "HOLY CRAP! He just turned into a VOZHD! Orsino is a TZIMISCE!"

Vampires have always been lame. The semi-historical equivalents are scarier to me. It works for an impressionable teenager, though. I had nightmares for a while about Salems Lot... had a 2nd story bedroom window though.1Nosphorus1 wrote...
I enjoyed the Vampire the Masquerade universe especially the lore (Diablorie etc), but Twilight just didn't do it for me, and it's spread into the current vampire "image".
Atleast VtM established the different bloodlines/clans with each bearing some sort of racial gift, while we still had the good ol' Dracula esque 13 or so Ancient vampires.
I admit I hate the bruxae and stuff in The Witcher, with their hovering and screaming.

Sophisticated vampires. Animalistic predators. Sparkly hunks. Victims of a mutated virus. I like them all.
And since someone already brought up V:tM, people might be interested in the 400+ page ultra prestige, 20th anniversary edition of the game they'll be giving out during the Grande Masquerade.

Not one note, but as varied as humans are. The different clans are all sorts of fun. Toreador being my favourite, I love their dedication to vanity and worldly beauty. Sure they might not be as effective as others, but they look good while doing it and that's all that matters!
I especially like the rant that one Nosferatu goes on about Toreadors in VtM: Bloodlines about how they think they're so pretty and stare into the mirrors they always carry around all night.

What I would like to see in DA3 is the revealing (subtle or otherwise) of the various godly entities that are too powerful to fight. I don't want them to be cheapened by an straightforward fight to the death like the ancient pride demon but rather be unkillable NPCs who are integral to current or future plot like Flemeth. You talk to them, fear/respect them or speculate if certain characters are more than what they seem.
Example: the Old Gods, the Maker, their children, the first Demon, the first Blood Mage (or vampire) who is immortal, the Unbound and their ancestors etc.

It's ironic because Nosferatus are all beautiful before the embrace. They love turning other beautiful mortals they are jealous of into abominations like themselves. Yeah I love how the clans are unique not only in their appearance, abilities but ideologies. The Brujahs are like anti-establishment and lofty while the Ventrues are uppity and power hungry.

I find demonology interesting as a whole, I am interested in what David has cooked up.
I've written a bit on a system for a large portion for a fantasy setting for a DnD setting, but I've drawn some inspirations from the Goetia (Lesser Key), the daemons of Ancient Greece, the Oni, and various European depictions of demons into a mishmash, and of course, a whole 7 Deadly Sins tie in.
I like the whole hunger/demons vampire connection. Will this be explored further?

Still, the idea of creatures drinking blood of mages is not entirely unappealing. When blood mages slit their wrists in exchange for power, all that blood has to go somewhere, right? Maybe the demons drink it. Maybe it contains magic that they find tasty. And strengthens the link between the demon and the mage. Is that some kind of fair exchange?
