 Since I've never modded anything in my life and have the Mac version of the game, this is going to be tricky. But I read somewhere that someone managed to give female Hawke the same freckles Aveline has, probably by using this link:

Thing is, I don't want any of the stuff that comes with it -- don't want to alter anything else. Not the complete revamp, not the family presets... Anyone have an idea how that might work out?

The freckles in the mod you linked is applied as a tatoo, so you would need some way to add only a tatoo to the xml file. Sorry if that is no help at all.

Well, there's a similar mod to the one you posted.

This mod only allows you to edit default Hawke's face, but it adds a lot of new skins (undead skin, tranquil skin etc.) and tattoos. It has Aveline's freckles, too. As a tattoo.

Edit: If you wish I can PM you the resource names for the tattoos this mod adds, so you can add it manually to the chargen. I don't know wich one is Aveline's freckles, you have to figure it out.

I popped into this thread thinking you wanted to get rid of Aveline's freckles, and I was ready to chastise you for being prejudiced against gingers.

I would love to be able to have freckles on my Hawke. It's really cute. Wish that was possible in the game without a mod =)

You probably should know, at this point, that while I am not ginger, I do have freckles. And so has my boyfriend. Who is ginger.

Right, that sounds good. But like I said, I've never modded anything in my life, so if you could gently point out to me how to add something manually / which files/ folders I should be rummaging around in? If it's too much work, no problem, I'll just try out the first option, or give up on the idea. Don't want to claim all your time

All you need to do is add this line to your chargenmorphcgf file under tattoos:

resource name="art\\characters\\playercharacter\\shared\\heads\\textures\\mt_tat_pmta_0t"

The freckles are right after the nutella smear

What marquiseondore said. Just to be sure, I write down how to add that line to your chargen. I'm on PC however, so I don't know how Mac works, but I hope I can help.

On PC, you can find the chargenmorphcgf file under:

C:\\Documents and Settings\\User\\Dokuments\\BioWare\\Dragon Age 2\\packages\\core\\override

The chargenmorphcgf is a XML file. Right click on it -> Open in Notepad.
Copy the following line (thanks to marquisendore between <tattoos> </tattoos>

resource name="art\\characters\\playercharacter\\shared\\heads\\textures\\mt_tat_pmta_0t"

Save.


EDIT:
I found this on a different site, someone was asking about the chargen and is on Mac, and someone said this to him/her:
"Download Notepad2, hopefully you can run that, or get something comparable that will open and save .xml files."
