Anyone else when playing Dragon Age II insist having their hawke being a completely different character to their Warden? through their LI's, their personality, their looks and basically everything?

I find myself doing this, My Warden was always going out of his way to help people, was best friends with Alistair and morrigan was his LI got along with all his companions and refused to put a prince on his assistance. Had Black hair.

My Hawke I dont want romancing merrill since she is to similar to morrigan imo apart from the whole friendliness thing lol. He has to not have black hair and has to be a colossal bastard to everyone and all his companions pretty much hate him lol, He is out for power and trys to get gold off of people he helps.

Anyone else like this or is it just me? lol

Yep. My first playthrough was with a female mage Hawke who was basically the Yang to Elysia Cousland's Yin. Raven haired, pale skinned (her skin tone being one of the few things she and my Warden had in common) and a snarky little b*tch who couldn't resist pulling a wise-cracking joke in even the most serious of situations. Anti-Chantry and Templars and Pro-Mages.

Contrast this with my little miss goody-two-shoes Cousland, who always did the right thing. She was a white knight who was a hopeless romantic, a believer in the Chantry, Maker and Andraste (although not overly so. She wasn't a fanatic, nor was her faith on the same level as Leliana) and thought almost everyone deserved a second chance. Fair skinned and blonde haired.

Your Hawke sounds a bit like Morrigan lol thats cool. What about LIs were the ones you had chosen  in each game similar? Maybe its just me making the Morrigan merrill connection. But Mage, Dark Hair, Maleficar, Not used to society lol.

You're lucky Morrigan is a fictional character.  She'd kill you in your sleep for that kind of slander.

Hmm... I wouldn't say so. I romanced Anders in DA2 and Alistair in DAO (with my first playthroughs as Sophiana Hawke and Elysia Cousland respectively). One used to be a Templar, the other a Mage of the circle. One is a strong pro-magic supporter, and a heavy-hearted character who takes on a very important mission. The other is a cute, funny and awkward fellow who is reluctant to accept his destiny as a potential future King of Ferelden. They may share some similarities (such as their senses of humor), but not many. I think Awakening Anders had a lot more in similar with Alistair than DA2 Anders (hell, they were practically twins! lol)

Quite the opposite. I find myself wanting to make my Dragon Age 2 characters as similar as possible to their Origins counterparts. Creating a band of merry heroes united by a common goal throughout different games, maintaing their views, etc., even the same heritage... I like that thought.

One of the reasons I was disappointed my character choices were reduced to only human. I wanted to try and make an entire generation of dwarven heroes that would show the pretty races what dwarves are made of!

All my characters are rather similar. I guess I miss out on the evil/jerk options, but guess I can actually live with that.
