I'm running into a couple of problems with the creator

1) it's not saving my characters - it's resetting all their features

2) it won't upload them to the site.

As most newer programs, CC stores it's savegames and .ini stuff elsewhere. The path differs because it includes the Users name. That's why I used %homepath% variable. Just use it like a regular path in explorer or command line and you will find it.

Finally, after about seven days, my character posted. That's his picture as my avatar -- ain't he cute?

And as a special gift, the forum thoughtfully changed my name from Chlamydion to 24107. I'm inspired to sing Red and Black.

Ah wonderful, I'm not alone!

I recomment trying this things:

1) Check, wether you video card match the minimum requirements. If youre unsure, post it here. Notebook users will have bad luck in most cases.
2) Update your video card drivers
3) Update DirectX - Yes, this includes users of Vista and Win7.
4) If you are familiar with editing configuration files, you could try to do so on the CC as well. Try to disable everything that looks like video card stuff by setting it to 0. Keep a copy of the original settings. The name is "DAOCharacterCreator.ini". Just search it at drive C:.

ATI Radeon X300/X550/X1050 Series 32Mb is my video card. I'm guessing that's too pathetic to run the Character Creator. I tried setting some video values to 0 but nothing worked, perhaps I didn't set the right values

Can someone point me to the Minimum System Requirements that are for the Character Creator?

I just got a new laptop, darn near top of the line and for the life of me, I could not figure out why the CC would not start (Crashing the whole computer.) After reading the posts about it here, I realized the most common componet seemed to be laptops...most laptops have realtek soundcards, so i disabled my soundcard, and voila...the CC works just fine, minus the VO...but at least it works. Just thought I'd pass this along for others that at least want to make a character.

me too...are we not going to get the unlockable item if our characters dont upload b/c of bioware's errors?

My characters do not seem to upload either. I am running an Dell XPS M1730 with 6GB and Vista 64. Any help out there?

Also, one of my characters keeps showing up with a tattoo every time I review it even though I completely zeroed out the tattoo preferences.

Creator was working fine but now it fails when I hit the play button. starts to launch but after a black screen I get an error saying winndows stoped the program due to a problem.

I edited an uploaded character (Kickaha) and the full body image reflects the changes, but the smaller avatar image remains unchanged.

Did you update your drviers? Latest version is R2.35.

'Run as Adminstrator' didn't work? Try this:

1) Disable UAC. (Should not be a problem, just in case..)
2) Run in Windows XP or Windows 2000 compatibly mode. (Running in 2k switches off multi-prozessor capabilities. Should not be a problem either...)
3) Diasable visual themes, desktop composition and display scaling at the combatibly tab.

There are too many pages to sort through, so I'll just go ahead and post my problem. I don't know if it's been reported by others. I can't upload to the social site. No error message is displayed, it states "uploading", then doesn't. It's been this way for a few weeks now.



The first two characters I made, I could upload to the site. I seem to recall getting an error message about an offensive name. I can't say for sure if I unsuccessfully tried to upload any characters before that.



I've tried reinstalling the character creator to no avail.

Though I have uploaded a character (my avatar several days ago and two more this morning), every time I try to upload from the CC I get a message saying it timed out trying to connect to my account online (even though I successfully log in).

The same thing happened this morning when I tried to upload two different characters: I logged in, tried to upload and got the timed out message.

Then, about four hours later I noticed that both of those characters were in my profile! But they still don't have the portraits or the full-length character images yet (about 8 hours ago as of this writng).

Also, about uploading the characters, the OK button for the timed out error message shows up under the flashing "Uploading Info" message, so when that error happens the only way to get out of the CC is via Task Manager or going to the desktop and rt-clicking the taskbar icon and closing it there.

Boy it'd be real nice to get these issues fixed. I know I'm not the only one experiencing or reporting them! Hopefully they're waiting to put out a patch right after release - or, better yet, a fix is IN the release...
